Chapter 17

If that weren’t the case, how could he have so calmly withstood all of James Harris’s attacks?

It was a long while before James Harris finally stopped, panting heavily. That flurry of attacks just now had consumed a tremendous amount of his strength.

In contrast, Ethan Carter remained unhurried, his breathing steady, not even breaking a sweat, as if he hadn’t expended any energy at all.

The difference was obvious!

“I really am no match for you!” James Harris’s voice was still cold, but now tinged with bitterness.

He had launched so many attacks, yet couldn’t injure Ethan Carter in the slightest. It was as if, in Ethan Carter’s eyes, all his attacks were nothing more than a tickle.

Completely useless.

This was a huge blow to him.

He had just left his sect, full of confidence, thinking that he could be considered a top figure in the world, at least among the younger generation.

Aside from those old monsters of the previous generation, there shouldn’t be anyone who could rival him.

Even that Scorpion, who could be considered his senior brother, wasn’t worth his attention.

Who would have thought he’d encounter such a freak here? Ethan Carter was so much younger than him, yet his strength far surpassed his own.

“You’re very strong. Facing you feels just like facing my master!” James Harris said. Though proud, he wasn’t a sore loser.

“If I’m not mistaken, you should also be a fifth-level, Dan-holding grandmaster, right?” James Harris looked at Ethan Carter, his eyes filled with disbelief.

He remembered that he had started martial arts at the age of three, spending countless hours every day, enduring hardships, and relying on his talent to finally break through to the level of internal strength.

Yet Ethan Carter, so much younger than him, was already a Dan-holding grandmaster. Even if he’d started cultivating in the womb, it shouldn’t have been this fast.

“By your standards, I suppose that’s about right.”

Ethan Carter nodded.

“Your standards? Isn’t Mr. Carter a martial artist?” Henry Collins asked curiously from the side.

Ethan Carter smiled and said, “A martial artist is one type of cultivator, but not all cultivators are martial artists. Do you understand what I mean?”

Henry Collins nodded. He understood the concept, but not the specifics, since he’d never seen other types of cultivators.

“You don’t need to be discouraged. My cultivation path is different from yours, so you can’t apply your experience to me!” Ethan Carter didn’t harbor any ill will toward James Harris; he was just a martial arts fanatic, with the pursuit of martial arts as his highest goal.

“Thank you, Mr. Carter, for showing mercy. But when I break through again, I’ll come challenge you once more!” James Harris said.

“Of course.”

Ethan Carter replied.

Henry Collins, standing to the side, witnessed the whole scene, unable to hide his astonishment. When he’d heard about Ethan Carter from his daughter, he’d only thought Ethan Carter was stronger than most people.

Unlike his daughter, who knew nothing, he was aware of many things ordinary people didn’t, such as matters in the martial arts world.

He had invited James Harris through various connections, precisely to prevent people like Scorpion from coming after them again.

He also knew how formidable James Harris was—he’d even seen James Harris in action. None of their family’s bodyguards, not even a group of them, could last more than two rounds against James Harris.

He had thought James Harris was already very powerful, but Ethan Carter was even more terrifying!

Chapter 13: Healing, Ginseng King

He had witnessed James Harris’s fierce assault, which was far beyond any so-called expert he’d known before.

The bodyguards he’d hired were considered skilled, many of them retired soldiers, but compared to James Harris, they were worlds apart.

Even without understanding martial arts, he could see how astonishingly sharp those attacks were.

Yet even so, Ethan Carter was unfazed. The gap in strength between the two was clear as day.

According to James Harris, Ethan Carter could even be compared to his master.

Others might not know who James Harris’s master was, but Henry Collins did. As a super-wealthy man at his level, he naturally knew many things ordinary people didn’t.

James Harris’s master was renowned, very famous in martial artist circles, and had even served as an imperial guardian, responsible for the security of the inner court.

He was a master closely connected to the authorities.

He had been a Dan-holding grandmaster for many years, and was now said to be on the verge of reaching the legendary status of a martial arts myth.

Once he became a martial arts myth, he would be even more extraordinary!

And this young Ethan Carter could actually be compared to James Harris’s master?

That was truly frightening!

James Harris returned to stand behind Henry Collins, quickly regaining his composure from the earlier defeat, like a meditating monk.

“Mr. Carter, you’ve really opened my eyes. I never imagined someone’s strength could reach such a level!” Henry Collins said with a smile as he stepped forward.

Ethan Carter just smiled calmly. Compared to the great changes the world would face in the future, this was still far from enough.

“I wonder if Mr. Carter has eaten yet. Should I have someone prepare a meal for us before we continue?” Henry Collins asked.
