Chapter 7

"Really?" Adam Bennett took out his phone and checked it, and sure enough, he saw an unread WeChat message from Brian Bennett.

"Sorry to bother you!" Adam Bennett hurriedly turned and left the room, but almost bumped into a girl outside the door.

"Sorry." Adam Bennett quickly apologized to her.

"It's okay." The girl looked at him, but the smile on her face made Adam Bennett feel a bit uneasy. Still, he didn't have time to think about it, so he just nodded and hurried off. Eric Foster had wanted to say a few more words to Adam Bennett, but his game wasn't over yet. He got up while still playing, only to see Adam Bennett's back disappearing at the stairwell. The girl at the door, however, was still watching Adam Bennett's back, looking thoughtful.

"Who are you looking for?" Eric Foster looked at the girl and, noticing she was quite pretty, immediately became more enthusiastic.

"I'm not looking for anyone. The blue buff in your jungle is about to respawn, go get it." the girl said.

"What?" Eric Foster was stunned. He looked down and, sure enough, the blue monster in his jungle was about to respawn.

"How did you know?" Eric Foster asked in surprise, but saw that she was already leaving.

"Because I play with my heart." The girl didn't look back, just said this and disappeared at the stairwell.

Chapter 3: Team Lang7

Dongjiang University values greenery, and the campus is filled with all kinds of trees whose names people can't even recall, casting everything under lush shade. The only place where you can look up and see the blue sky is probably the vast sports field.

Adam Bennett went to the student supermarket on the west side of the field, bought a bottle of soda, and sat on the bench at the entrance, sipping it slowly. Even though it was just the day for new students to register, there were already students playing soccer on the field. But the tree-lined path between the field and the student supermarket was even livelier.

Rows of desks lined both sides of the path. All the student clubs at Dongjiang University couldn't wait to set up and recruit new members as freshmen arrived. Some hung colorful banners on the trees behind their desks, some held eye-catching signs, some used loudspeakers to play their club introductions on a loop, and others sent people to hand out flyers among the passing students.

Emily Carter sat alone behind a desk, watching the bustling clubs with a bit of envy. He didn't have any eye-catching signs, and he was the only one at his table. Most passing students were drawn to the bigger, more impressive clubs, and few noticed his desk. Not wanting to miss any opportunity, every time someone glanced his way, he would immediately put on an expectant smile, stand up, and enthusiastically greet them: "Hey, want to learn about Team Lang7?"

"What?" The student, who had only glanced over by accident, looked at Emily Carter in confusion. He hadn't even caught what Emily Carter had just said.

"Team Lang7, we play Honor of Kings. Do you play?" Emily Carter asked patiently.

"Honor of Kings? Isn't the Honor of Kings club over there?" The student looked to the right in confusion and, sure enough, saw that he was right. The Honor of Kings club was over there, flanked by life-size cutouts of the game's heroes Xiang Yu and Yu Ji.

"That's the club. We're just a team. Join us and we can play matches, ranked games, and take part in some..."

"But I've already joined the Honor of Kings club," the student interrupted Emily Carter.

"That's not a problem. We're just a relatively fixed team," Emily Carter explained.

"Yeah, very fixed. It's always just been two people on the team," suddenly someone else cut in, walking up to the student, patting him on the shoulder, and saying this with a very serious expression.

"Mr. Bolton." The student turned and recognized the newcomer as the third-year senior who had just welcomed him at the Honor of Kings club—apparently the club's publicity officer.

"Didn't I just tell you? If you want to join a team, our club has plenty. Based on your preferred role and heroes, we'll recommend the most suitable team for you," David Bolton said.

"I know, but this senior..."

"Their team only has two people. Why would you join them? To play Changping Offense and Defense?" As soon as David Bolton finished, the students who came with him burst out laughing. Even experienced Honor of Kings players might not be familiar with Changping Offense and Defense—it's a 3v3 mode in the game. Normally, the main modes are ranked and match games on the King's Canyon map, which are 5v5, and the top-level KPL is the same. So Changping Offense and Defense is considered a more casual mode. David Bolton's words were full of mockery, but Emily Carter couldn't argue, because it was true: Team Lang7 really only had two members at the moment.

"So what's wrong with Changping Offense and Defense? Do you know how to play it?"

A girl's voice suddenly cut in. Everyone turned to look and saw a pretty girl striding over confidently. Quite a few onlookers' eyes lit up. But David Bolton and his companions didn't seem to appreciate her at all; instead, they looked annoyed, though they quickly forced a smile and said, "Oh, it's you, Mr. Harris!"
