Chapter 5

“This is the contract!” Tiffany trembled as she pulled out a withered piece of parchment from her arms. “Ten gold coins, not a single coin less! If you give the money to Uncle Oak, I’ll go with you!”

“Ten gold coins!” Angus shook his head, looking rather unwilling. “Tiffany, I’ll give you five gold coins! Whether you go or not isn’t up to you. Even if I have to tie you up today, I’ll drag you back!”

Chapter 3: Who Dares Touch My People?

“Who dares touch this poor Daoist’s... my people?” Thunder roared, picking up a clod of dirt from the ground and hurling it with all his might, hitting Angus squarely.

The local tyrant yelped and jumped up, turning to see the furious Thunder, and took a startled step back.

Thunder was truly furious. The memories from Colin’s mind made his anger boil, and on top of that, this local tyrant actually wanted to buy Tiffany for just five gold coins. If there had been a brick on the ground, Thunder would have smashed it over his head already.

“Colin, you brat!” Angus glared at Thunder through gritted teeth. “Didn’t I beat you enough a few days ago? Now you’re jumping out again looking for death? Don’t think I won’t touch you just because your father was a baron! He’s dead! You’re not a noble anymore!”

“Young master!” Tiffany, holding the indenture, tears streaming down like broken pearls, came to Thunder and tried to kneel, but Thunder grabbed her. “Young master, Tiffany can’t serve by your side anymore. You must remember to eat, wear more clothes when it’s cold, and don’t punch the wall when you’re angry—it’s bad for your health.”

“What nonsense are you spouting? Who’s selling you?” Thunder glared at Tiffany and pulled her behind him.

“Hmph.” Angus sneered coldly. “Colin, whether you sell or not isn’t up to you today! Besides, five gold coins is a fortune for you!”

The thugs burst out laughing, their eyes full of mockery and contempt.

“I’ll say it again—whoever dares touch my people, if you come in standing, you’ll leave lying down!”

Angus poked his fat head out from behind his bodyguards, threatening viciously: “Brat, if you don’t get out of the way, I won’t be polite! You’ve seen what my attendants can do. Last time you got off easy—this time I’ll break your legs!”

Uncle Oak staggered up from the ground, stood in front of Thunder, his old face flushed red, and somehow grabbed a wooden stick: “Who dares hit my young master?”

“Uncle, stand back!” Thunder pulled the steward behind him too, facing Angus and his fierce bodyguards alone.

“Beat them! Old and young, cripple them all!” Angus shoved the guard in front of him forward, raging. “Tiffany, today you’re mine, and you won’t get a single coin!”

Several burly bodyguards charged over menacingly. Thunder stepped forward to meet them, while Oak and Tiffany both clenched their fists in anxiety.

One guard swung a fist the size of a pot at Thunder’s head. Thunder ducked nimbly, dodging the blow, and at the same time kicked at the guard’s ankle.

As a disciple of the Talisman Sect of the Dragon Tiger Sect, he naturally knew a bit of martial arts.

The force of this kick was just right. The burly guard felt his balance slip and fell flat on his face, eating dirt.

Thunder’s foot throbbed with pain.

“Forgot this isn’t my original body.” Thunder grimaced. His physical body had been destroyed, and his cultivation was gone too. Now, only a vast magical power flowed within him.

This turn of events shocked Angus and the guards. Just a few days ago, when they beat this kid, he couldn’t fight back at all. Now, after a few days, he’d managed to take one of them down in a single move.

With a roar, the guards surrounded Thunder from all sides. Relying on their strength, they attacked harder and harder. Thunder, gasping for breath, used the exquisite footwork he’d learned before to dodge clumsily, and when he couldn’t avoid a blow, he cleverly tripped his opponents.

Uncle Oak and the little maid Tiffany watched anxiously from the side, puzzled. After all this fighting, the guards hadn’t managed to take down the young master—instead, it seemed like he was running circles around them.

Angus kept shouting from the side, cursing his guards for being as stupid as wild boars, which only made them angrier.

This couldn’t go on. Thunder was panting like an ox, sweating all over. The strength and resilience of this body were nothing like his old one. If the fight continued, he’d collapse from exhaustion before anyone else could take him down.

“Stop!” Thunder shouted, and while the guards were stunned, he quickly jumped out of the melee.

Angus smirked triumphantly. “Scared now, kid? Apologize to me before I change my mind, and hand over Tiffany. Maybe I’ll let you off today.”

Thunder couldn’t be bothered to argue. He quietly pulled out three freshly drawn talismans from his clothes.

After a few years in the Talisman Sect, with his cultivation, he could only draw one kind of talisman—the Five-Colored Divine Thunder Talisman! A single-target killing talisman, which ordinary people couldn’t withstand. The founder’s seal had also been broken by this kind of talisman. Back when Thunder was training at Dragon Tiger Mountain, he loved blasting one spot with it.
