Chapter 17

The road ahead is long and arduous, Thunder let out a long sigh.

After practicing the Celestial Master's Linglong Steps for an hour and going through several sets of martial arts, Tiffany came in to call Thunder for breakfast.

Today, the house felt much livelier, but at breakfast, Thunder was the only one at the table.

"Come back." He stopped Tiffany, who was about to leave. "Call Uncle Oak over to eat together."

In the past, when the family was poor and food was scarce, Uncle Oak and Tiffany didn't care about rules and would sit at the same table as Thunder. But now that things had changed, as servants, they could no longer sit at the same table as their master.

Tiffany glanced at Thunder and nodded. The little girl knew that if she refused Thunder, she'd get a scolding.

After breakfast, Thunder walked out into the yard and saw Carlos squatting by the doorframe, energetically slurping a big bowl of porridge. Yesterday, all the slaves had been given a bath and a change of clothes, so now they looked much fresher.

"How are you feeling?" Thunder walked over to Carlos, patted him on the shoulder, and Carlos hurriedly stood up to salute.

"Keep eating." Thunder pressed him back down. "There aren't so many rules in this house."

"Thank you, young master." Carlos munched on a piece of crispy radish, crunching loudly.

"From now on, don't bother with formalities when you see me. We're all men here, just be straightforward." Thunder also squatted by the doorframe, sitting shoulder to shoulder with Carlos.

Carlos grinned at Thunder, then picked up his bowl and continued eating.

"Young master, there's a lot of rubble in the house. I think we could build a rockery in the yard," Carlos said.

"Do as you see fit, just don't tear the house down." Thunder nodded. "I've assigned you all the manpower. From now on, you're the little boss of the house. Don't worry about too much."

"Understood."

"Also, if the housework is done, go out and take a look around. After all, those tenant farmers who rent our land could use some help now and then. If there's any heavy work, you guys can lend a hand. We're all poor folks, and it's not easy to grow things."

"Mm." Carlos nodded. "Probably not in the next few days, though. We'll get the house sorted first."

"Keep eating!" Thunder patted Carlos on the shoulder and walked off alone.

A walk after a meal aids digestion! On over two hundred acres of land, there were more than thirty tenant households, all part of the Collin family estate.

All thirty families lived in one village, not far from the house. With nothing else to do, Thunder strolled over. The tenant farmers all knew their land had changed hands, and when they saw Thunder, each greeted him respectfully.

After making a round, Thunder returned to his study.

The magic scrolls he brought back from the city yesterday were all laid out on the table. Thunder's task today was to copy these magic scrolls.

In the Dragon Tiger Sect, Thunder only knew one Five-Colored Divine Thunder Talisman. If he wanted to establish himself in this world, a single talisman wouldn't be enough. Since there was no method for inscribing talismans, he could only turn his attention to magic scrolls.

He spread out a basic fireball scroll, and Thunder immediately sensed a faint, somewhat volatile energy.

Taking a deep breath, Thunder circulated the magic within his body, gathering it at his fingertips, then slowly and deeply brushed his forehead while chanting in a low voice, "Celestial Master's Eye, open!"

In an instant, a tiny pupil appeared within Thunder's eyes. With this vision, he could clearly see ripples undulating across the magic scroll, fiery red elements gathering within the patterns, condensing without dispersing, flowing back and forth along the lines.

Celestial Master's Eye! This was the second auxiliary technique every disciple of the Talisman Sect had to master!

To inscribe talismans, one had to control the output and trajectory of spiritual energy. The Celestial Master's Eye could see the true nature and attributes of spiritual energy, making it an essential technique for assisting in talisman inscription.

All things in this world are a mix of truth and falsehood, and the naked eye cannot distinguish between them.

But the Celestial Master's Eye is different—it can see the essence and true form of things. Strictly speaking, the Celestial Master's Eye is a type of Heavenly Eye, but it doesn't have the miraculous abilities of the Heavenly Eye, such as predicting the future or seeing into the past. Its function in assisting Talisman Sect disciples to inscribe scrolls has, to a large extent, limited its development.

Maintaining the Celestial Master's Eye requires a huge amount of energy, so Thunder could only quickly observe the patterns and spiritual energy on the fireball scroll before wiping his forehead. The double pupils instantly faded, and sweat appeared on Thunder's forehead.

If the Celestial Master's Linglong Steps were a subtle footwork to assist Talisman Sect disciples in battle, then the Celestial Master's Eye was a powerful aid to increase the success rate of talisman inscription.

Chapter 13: Inscribing Magic Scrolls

The inscription method was very simple, to Thunder's surprise—even less complicated than his own Five-Colored Divine Thunder Talisman.

But after all, it was only a level-one magic scroll, so Thunder quickly let it go.

He took out a piece of pre-cut parchment, recalled the spiritual energy patterns and concentrations he had just seen, and began inscribing with his brush.

With a single stroke, Thunder quickly finished one.
