Chapter 12

In addition, it seemed that speed and reflexes had also changed. He decided to find a professional place to test this later.

As for strength...

For comparison, Ryan Walker found a single 10-kilogram dumbbell that his roommate had bought for exercise but had ended up gathering dust. He lifted it lightly, as effortlessly as picking up a bottle of mineral water.

All things considered, he had gotten stronger!

He had truly become stronger. When reading novels before, he always envied those protagonists with superhuman strength, surrounded by beauties, dominating everywhere—a real winner in life.

He never expected such good fortune to happen to himself.

It was only at this moment that Ryan Walker fully accepted the fact that he had become stronger. A rush of cool exhilaration, like eating ice cream, shot straight to his head. He believed that even those who won the grand prize in the lottery weren’t as lucky as he was.

A path to the pinnacle of life had already opened up to him.

Chapter 0007: It’s Not Easy to Get a Full Meal

……

Gurgle.

His stomach rumbled. Ryan Walker remembered that since yesterday at noon, he had only eaten half a watermelon.

Enduring the strong stench in the kitchen, Ryan Walker fried two eggs and cooked a bowl of noodles. When the food was placed in front of him, his hunger seemed to intensify.

His stomach churned with acid, his intestines squirmed, and the urge was overwhelming, as if he hadn’t eaten for days.

Slurp!

Accompanied by the intense sound of slurping noodles, it took less than a minute—no, to be precise, at most forty seconds—for the entire bowl of noodles and eggs to disappear into his stomach.

Ryan Walker was stunned by himself. After eating so much, he had only slightly eased his hunger. His desire to eat was still just as fierce.

He could even vaguely feel his stomach happily churning, secreting large amounts of gastric acid to digest the food.

Could it be that not only had his senses and strength evolved, but even his digestive ability had improved?

Hungry, so hungry.

At this rate, would he end up eating himself into a few-hundred-pound fatty?

But he was just so hungry, unbearably so.

Unable to resist the torment of hunger, Ryan Walker dumped the rest of the dried noodles into the pot and cooked a whole wok full. This was enough noodles for three or four strong men, but after seasoning, it all went into Ryan Walker’s stomach in less than three minutes.

“Finally, I feel a bit full.” Ryan Walker leaned back on the sofa, contentedly rubbing his round belly. He opened the laptop his family had bought him for college and started looking up information—things about evolution and mutation.

His bloated stomach began to churn happily again.

Ten minutes!

Ryan Walker was shocked to find that he was starting to feel hungry again. His once-bloated belly had already flattened.

What kind of digestion is this! Even a pig wouldn’t be this outrageous, right? Is this a side effect of evolution?

But thinking about it, all his bodily functions had greatly improved, so his cells and tissues would need more nutrients and energy.

But he only had about eight hundred yuan left in his pocket—how long would that last? The rent was almost due. And there was that three-thousand-yuan debt that needed to be paid off soon.

Looks like he needed to find a way to make more money.

The job at the medical equipment company was basically just a delivery guy. It was more tiring than being a courier and paid even less—a total rip-off. Doing that, he might as well deliver packages.

Deliver packages?

Ryan Walker’s eyes lit up. That was actually a pretty good idea. Courier services were a hot industry now, with everyone shopping online. As long as he was willing to work hard, and with his greatly enhanced physical abilities, he should be able to earn quite a bit.

But the problem was, the money he had left probably wouldn’t last until he switched jobs and got his first paycheck.

So he needed to find a quick-paying part-time job, preferably one that paid daily.

Ryan Walker picked up his laptop and started logging into local job sites, searching for gigs with daily pay.

“Could they be any more of a scam?” Ryan Walker couldn’t help but twitch his face and complain, “The high-paying ones are either PR for entertainment companies or nightclub managers.”

Or they were technical jobs, like argon arc welding and the like.

Right, maybe some urban supernatural novels online could offer some ideas. Ryan Walker searched for a few popular novels and carefully looked at how the protagonists started out.

The more he read, the more speechless he became. The abilities those protagonists got were all so special. Things like x-ray vision to see through jade stones, or sensing the aura of antiques, or picking up rare finds. Or being able to control clones and go treasure hunting in sunken ships.

Some even got a game system, where they could just add points or draw prizes for whatever ability they wanted.

But his own all-around physical enhancement didn’t seem to have much of a market. Was he supposed to become a bodyguard? Find a beautiful CEO to protect and maybe get a little romantic?

But that wasn’t realistic either. There were plenty of ex-special forces out there, all with more professional knowledge and combat skills than him.

Relying on strength, daily pay, making more money, and staying legal.

After thinking it over, Ryan Walker felt that working as a laborer on a construction site was the most realistic option. As for other high-end jobs that relied on strength and speed, he’d have to think about and try them out slowly.
