Some of the surrounding passengers also noticed Sam Hill's lewd actions toward the woman in the white dress. A few young male passengers were just about to play the hero and save the damsel in distress, but the threatening glares from Sam Hill's two henchmen made their heroic spirit instantly vanish. They stood where they were, pretending not to see what was happening right in front of them.
The woman in the white dress had a slight obsession with cleanliness, and Sam Hill's actions behind her made her feel utterly disgusted. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly, and as Sam Hill's behavior became more and more outrageous, she couldn't help but cast a pleading glance at Henry Lawson, who was sitting in front of her.
Originally, Henry Lawson had no intention of getting involved in such messy affairs, but looking at the cold and alluring woman before him, his indifferent heart couldn't help but tremble fiercely. A man's defenses against a woman's plea for help are almost negligible, especially when it comes to a stunning beauty like her.
Snap!
Henry Lawson snapped his fingers in front of the woman in the white dress, stood up, and said to her, "Take my seat."
"Thank you." The woman gave him a grateful smile, quickly escaping Sam Hill's harassment and sitting down in Henry Lawson's seat.
Seeing Henry Lawson ruin his fun, Sam Hill glared at him angrily and, in a warning tone, said in his ear, "Kid, you've got guts!"
Henry Lawson completely ignored Sam Hill's threatening words. Threats? Henry Lawson sneered with disdain—he'd only ever been the one to threaten others, never the other way around.
Henry Lawson simply stood in front of the woman, blocking the restless Sam Hill and protecting her. With three stops left before the terminal, the woman in the white dress picked up her handbag and got off the train. As she passed by Henry Lawson, she thanked him again.
Seeing the woman get off, Sam Hill quickly signaled to his two henchmen and followed her out of the carriage, not forgetting to point a warning finger at Henry Lawson before leaving.
Watching the three of them follow the woman off the train, Henry Lawson's lips curled up slightly. It seemed these guys weren't giving up so easily. Since he was helping, he might as well see it through to the end. Let's see what tricks you three mangy birds can pull tonight. With that, Henry Lawson squeezed out of the subway car and followed the four of them.
Chapter 2 Ashley Young
From the moment she left the subway station, the woman in the white dress felt someone was following her. Her place was only a ten-minute walk from the station, and once she entered her residential complex, those following her would naturally be left behind. However, the road in front of her complex happened to be under construction these past few days, leaving only a small path beside the subway station as the way in.
Although the entire path was only about two hundred meters long, there wasn't a single streetlight along it. There were even piles of construction debris by the roadside, and when it rained, the path became a muddy mess. Even during the day, few people used it, let alone at night.
The woman in the white dress hesitated briefly at the entrance, but still stepped into the pitch-black path.
Sam Hill and his gang, who had been wondering how to make their move, were overjoyed to see the cold and beautiful woman walk into such a secluded path. It was like someone offering them a pillow when they were sleepy. He signaled to his two henchmen and quickly followed.
At the very back, Henry Lawson saw the woman in the white dress enter the path and couldn't help but twitch his lips in exasperation. Damn, was this woman dropped on her head or kicked by a donkey? She was willingly walking into a wolf's den. Looks like there's no avoiding a fight tonight. Henry Lawson reached into the pocket of his jeans to feel the butterfly knife, then quietly followed.
Sensing that Sam Hill and his gang were following, the woman in the white dress quickened her pace, thinking to herself: Eric Long, let me see if you are really as cold and heartless as the rumors say.
When the woman reached the middle of the path, Sam Hill jerked his chin at his two henchmen. The two thuggishly dressed punks immediately rushed forward to block her way.
The woman's long, beautiful eyes stared coldly at the two punks blocking her path. She asked in a frosty voice, "What do you want? Move!"
"Even when you're angry, you're so icy. I wonder if you'll still be this cold when I'm on top of you later?"
Sam Hill stroked his chin with a lecherous grin as he walked forward. "Come with me, babe. I don't mind forcing you right here, but I'd rather spend a few dozen bucks to get a room at a roadside motel with you."
"Get lost!" the woman snapped coldly at Sam Hill.
"Ooh, feisty—I like it!" Sam Hill shouted to his two henchmen, "Grab her!"
Seeing the two punks coming toward her, the woman glanced toward the entrance of the path. When she saw Henry Lawson standing to the side with his hands in his pockets, showing no intention of helping, she was furious. Eric Long, so you really are as cold as the rumors say. I misjudged you!
The woman in the white dress hurled her handbag fiercely at Sam Hill, but he caught it easily and tossed it behind him. The contents spilled all over the ground, and a navy blue East Sea University student ID landed at Henry Lawson's feet.
