Chapter 3

The steam-powered robot using its skill—Mechanical Grab—to catch people is a good thing, but grabbing these particular heroes is basically sending your own teammates to their doom. It’s like a fierce wolf was still far from your teammates, but the robot drags the wolf over, getting its own fragile allies killed.

This is something you need to pay attention to when playing support Blitzcrank around level 30. Ryan Cooper's Blitzcrank really isn’t up to par yet.

Of course, sometimes you can go for these hard-control heroes, but that’s a more advanced tactic for later on.

Jason Bennett didn’t bother explaining to Ryan Cooper why the bottom lane got crushed. Their “elementary school” level of play wasn’t even worth this god’s attention.

“I’ve arranged another match with those bastards from Class Three next Saturday. I’m betting my entire month’s living expenses on it,” said Eric Carter.

“Mr. Carter, don’t be so impulsive. We can’t beat them,” said Ethan Foster.

“Says who?!” Eric Carter snapped, and Ethan Foster immediately shut up.

Hearing Eric Carter’s words, Jason Bennett finally opened his eyes, sleepily looking at Eric Carter and said, “You planning to starve this month? Betting all your living expenses.”

Betting money meant things were getting serious.

Seeing his half-dead deskmate finally speak, Eric Carter hurried over and whispered in his ear, “Olivia Parker is playing too. She’s looking for someone to carry her. I’m competing with David Morgan from Class Three for her. Didn’t expect to lose yesterday, and Olivia Parker was there watching. I was so embarrassed I couldn’t even lift my head. Don’t you think I need to get my dignity back? Sigh, it’s all because these guys are so useless.”

“Olivia Parker, oh, that long-legged class beauty from Class Four?” Jason Bennett did remember this beauty. Every time she walked by, the guys around him would be busy wiping their drool.

Honestly, that girl really was good-looking, especially those full, slender legs. The way she walked, swaying her hips—her perky little butt was so bouncy that even the loose school uniform couldn’t hide her seductive charm!

“Jason Bennett, you play too, right? Doesn’t matter if you’re not that good, it’s not like I’m asking you to play. Just come and support me next Saturday!” said Eric Carter.

“Forget it, I’ve got things to do. You guys go ahead and play,” Jason Bennett shook his head.

Are you kidding me? I’m at 1900 points in ranked, and you want me to watch you kids play 5v5? I’d rather team up with my partner and push for 2000 points. Weekend time in senior year is precious!

Do you even know what 1900 points in ranked means?

It means if Jason Bennett is Sun Wukong, then Eric Carter and his crew are just the little demons under the Bull Demon King—there’s a huge gap in skill!

……

Do you love studying?

Can you honestly say you love the weird language of classical Chinese, that you enjoy the nagging emphasis of English, or that you like the maddening symbols in math?

If you really claim you love studying, what right do I have not to call you a hypocrite?

Jason Bennett hated all this, but he knew he had no choice. For his parents, for his uncertain future, he had to listen carefully to every class, take diligent notes, from Monday to Saturday…

In this numb routine, a week passed before he knew it. After the last class on Saturday, the homeroom teacher still made a point to walk up to the podium, pointing at the words “120 days until the college entrance exam” written in bold colors on the blackboard, sounding the alarm for everyone, making it feel as heavy as a memorial service.

But the moment the bell rang, the sparkling eyes of all the students betrayed them.

“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s eat! Tonight we’ll hit the internet café and practice. We need to work out our tactics!” Eric Carter shouted to his teammates at the top of his lungs.

“Eric Carter, did you really bet money with those guys from Class Three?” Jason Bennett asked casually as he packed up.

“Of course! I can lose money, but I can’t lose face. I already told Olivia Parker,” Eric Carter said seriously.

“All right, good luck.” Jason Bennett knew that once he got serious, he was like a bull seeing a red flag—nothing could stop him.

“You really won’t come cheer us on?” Eric Carter asked.

“I’ve got things to do Saturday night. If I have time, I’ll drop by. It’s at Longsheng Internet Café, right?” Jason Bennett asked.

“Heh, you better come! Watch me crush them!” Eric Carter said proudly.

With that, Eric Carter was already gathering Ethan Foster, Lily Harris, Ryan Cooper, and the others to go eat outside the school. After dinner, they’d probably form their legendary invincible lineup—the five-in-a-row at the internet café, though they’d never actually won!

Chapter 3: Just One Word—Fight!

……

After getting home and eating dinner, Jason Bennett turned on his computer.

He opened the League of Legends Box, launched the game, and when that exciting interface popped up, the light suddenly returned to Jason Bennett’s somewhat weary eyes.

His love for competitive games was in his bones—he simply couldn’t hide it.

The interface loaded, and he selected the Freljord server.

Opening his friends list, Jason Bennett spotted an ID he couldn’t be more familiar with: Emily White.
