Chapter 5: You Two Play Top Lane
“Let’s get started, let’s get started, I’m getting impatient!” said David Morgan from Class Three.
David Morgan seemed to have some status in this internet café. This table of ten computers, five on each side, had been reserved, and every computer screen was flashing with the League of Legends interface, which was both ancient and mixed with a metallic deep blue.
Usually, everyone is staring at boring textbooks, but as soon as they see this interface, their eyes light up several notches!
“Jason Bennett, sit next to Lily Harris.” Eric Carter pointed to the empty seat beside Lily Harris.
Eric Carter sat in the middle, clearly taking the mid-lane mage position.
To Eric Carter’s right were Mark Bailey and Ethan Foster, while Jason Bennett and Lily Harris sat to his left. The two of them were definitely taking the bottom lane.
Behind the five of them, there were quite a few brothers from Class Eight who often hung out at the internet café. They were there to cheer them on, about seven or eight people in total, including one girl.
“Crush them!” said the vice class monitor of Class Eight, Daniel Clark.
“Yeah, we lost to them in basketball, but we can’t lose in LOL. Otherwise, we’ll never be able to hold our heads up in front of this group from Class Three.” said the basketball team leader.
“If you guys win, I’ll give each of you a kiss as a reward!” Little Sophie said with a smile.
“Ah, Jason Bennett, move over, let me play.”
“Get lost, you’re not even level 10 yet, what are you playing for?”
Eric Carter took off his headphones, turned to the cheerleaders, and said, “Don’t worry, we won’t lose.”
With that, everyone logged into their accounts and entered the Iron Solari server in the Telecom region.
David Morgan from Class Three created a custom game.
Custom games are a bit different from matchmaking. Custom games are usually used for in-house battles, where you play against your own friends, while matchmaking randomly finds opponents online.
Sure enough, Eric Carter’s ID was: Beast
Lily Harris’s was: Cloud
Ethan Foster’s was: I’m So Cool
Mark Bailey: I’m the Boss
Jason Bennett’s ID: Qiong Sou Ma Die
He just typed this ID randomly; it’s a mouthful to say, so he went with it.
Jason Bennett’s main account, with 2000 ranked points, was on the Freljord server in the Netcom region. Iron Solari was just a smurf account, used to play with an old friend, so the level wasn’t high.
“No way, you’re only level 13, but my partner Ryan Cooper is level 24. Looks like our bottom lane is going to collapse again this time.” Lily Harris glanced at Jason Bennett’s account and immediately felt a chill in his heart.
Last time they played against Class Three, even with Ryan Cooper as his partner, Lily Harris got completely crushed. Now he’s paired with a level 13—how is this going to work?
“Jason Bennett is only three levels higher than me. How about I play instead?” Henry Scott really wanted to show off, looking eager to try.
Eric Carter glanced at Jason Bennett and said, “Bro, can you handle it?”
“Relax.” Jason Bennett curled his lips into an arrogant, cocky smile.
In this day and age, when it’s time to show off, you have to go all out!!
If you have the skills and don’t show off, what are you saving your pride for?
Very soon, invitations started coming in. David Morgan from Class Three added Jason Bennett as a friend and pulled him into the custom game lobby.
Once in the custom lobby, Jason Bennett saw a row of IDs on the other side—all five started with “狂” (Mad).
Jason Bennett didn’t think they were that “mad”—in fact, it was just tacky.
A quick glance showed that all of them were above level 25, with “Mad for Life” at level 29, almost at the level 30 cap.
Looking at his own team, aside from Eric Carter at level 26, the others were level 21, 22, and then there was himself, the glaring level 13!!
“They really couldn’t find anyone, so they brought in a level 13 noob to make up the numbers. Looks like we’re in for an easy time in the bottom lane.” Emma Reed from Class Eight, sitting across from them, burst out laughing.
“Bet they’re going to get killed so much it won’t even be worth it.”
At this moment, David Morgan spoke up, chuckling, “No worries, let’s just split the money based on kills. If you can kill them twenty times or so, that thousand yuan is basically yours.”
“Now I’m pumped! I was going to just pick any champion to deal with them since they’re so bad, but for the sake of kills, I’ll use my best champion!” said Sophie Miller, the one with the raspy voice, sounding a bit excited.
Hearing the taunts from the other side, plus the undeniable fact of the level 13, everyone’s faces didn’t look too good. In the end, Eric Carter shouted, “Stop whining and start the game! We’ll beat you so bad you’ll be picking your teeth off the floor!”
David Morgan hit start, and the five computers immediately entered the champion selection screen.
“Let’s ban their best champions first, that’ll give us an advantage.” Jason Bennett suggested.
“Ban what?” Lily Harris asked blankly from the side.
Jason Bennett had just said it casually, but then noticed everyone was looking at him strangely.
He glanced at the champion selection screen and immediately felt a chill…
It was actually custom “blind pick” mode, where you pick your own champion, can’t see the enemy’s lineup, and there’s no champion ban phase.
