Chapter 6

Brian Morgan felt the pain ease instantly, and his spasming muscles began to relax. James Morgan's hands grew brighter and brighter, eventually turning into a semi-transparent hue, through which the blood could be clearly seen flowing in blue veins beneath his skin.

All the onlookers gasped in amazement; no one had expected the unremarkable-looking James Morgan to possess such a miraculous supernatural ability.

Beads of steam rose from Brian Morgan's forehead, and the splitting headache from before vanished without a trace. James Morgan slowly withdrew his palm and wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. He looked utterly exhausted, clearly having expended a great deal of energy while healing Brian Morgan just now.

David Morgan's gaze toward his elder brother had shifted from anger to gratitude. He handed a glass of water to his brother: “Big brother! How is Little Brian?” James Morgan smiled and finished the water: “He should be fine for now, but staying in the hospital is completely useless. These people have no ability to cure Little Brian!”

Dr. Foster's face flushed; James Morgan's words were simply too blunt.

He admitted frankly, “This gentleman is right. With our current level of medical technology, we have no confidence in removing such a large aneurysm.” He paused and continued, “There’s something strange, though. Your son has such a large tumor on the pons, but did you really not notice anything before?”

David Morgan and his wife exchanged a glance, both showing expressions of shame. They truly had paid too little attention to Brian Morgan before his illness; they had never cared about his health until he fell sick.

Dr. Foster said, “Your son’s constitution is very unusual. If an ordinary person had such a large aneurysm pressing on the pons, it would have already affected their breathing and motor centers. But all his other physiological indicators are normal…”

James Morgan stood up: “Take Little Brian home. There’s something I must discuss with you.”

After witnessing everything that had just happened, David Morgan now followed his elder brother’s every word. Once Brian Morgan had rested a bit and his spirits had improved, they immediately brought Brian Morgan back home.

“I want to take Little Brian away from here!” As soon as they got home, James Morgan's first words left David Morgan and his wife utterly stunned.

David Morgan frowned: “Why? In his current condition, Little Brian really isn’t suited to—”

James Morgan cut him off: “If Little Brian stays here, he’s doomed. You heard what Dr. Foster said—he has no way to cure Little Brian!”

“But I can take him to Europe, to America. The medical technology there is more advanced than here. Maybe they can cure Little Brian!” Deep down, David Morgan still held a sliver of hope.

James Morgan shook his head with a smile: “It’s useless. If Little Brian stays here, he absolutely won’t live more than a week. Are you really willing to just watch your own son die?”

“You’re lying! Little Brian can’t possibly have such a short life. With technology so advanced nowadays, as long as we’re willing to spend the money, we can definitely cure Little Brian!” Zhu Liqi said, her eyes red with tears.

James Morgan sighed: “You simply can’t cure Little Brian, because he isn’t actually sick!”

David Morgan and his wife were completely baffled by this statement, staring at their elder brother in confusion.

“It’s hard to explain, but just let Little Brian come with me. In five years, I promise to bring him back to you safe and healthy!” James Morgan vowed earnestly.

David Morgan and his wife exchanged another look, both biting their lips, finally making up their minds: “Big brother! You must cure Little Brian!”

James Morgan nodded firmly: “Don’t worry, he’s not only your son, he’s also the only heir of our Meng family!”

Early the next morning, Brian Morgan set out on a healing journey with the uncle he was meeting for the first time in his life. As they were leaving, Zhu Liqi hugged her son and cried uncontrollably, then stuffed a credit card into Brian Morgan's hand: “Little Brian, you can withdraw money from this card anywhere in the world. If you need anything, just buy it—don’t ever let yourself suffer…” She broke down in tears again as she spoke.

David Morgan was much stronger than his wife. He handed Brian Morgan a large travel bag packed with daily necessities for his son. Brian Morgan noticed his father’s eyes were also a bit red; it was the first time David Morgan had shown such emotion in front of his son.

  “Listen to your uncle…”

  Brian Morgan nodded.

“Take care of yourself, and remember to call home often…” Tears glistened in David Morgan's eyes. For the first time in many years, he looked closely at his son. His son was now taller than him, no longer the naive child he once was. His heart was full of guilt—he’d been so busy with business that he’d neglected his son and family. If he could do it all over again, he would make up for everything.

James Morgan patted his nephew’s shoulder: “There’s one thing I must make clear in advance—during these five years, Little Brian won’t be able to have any contact with you!” Brian Morgan looked at his uncle in surprise, having no idea where he was about to be taken. Surely he wasn’t going to be locked away in some dark, sunless dungeon.
