“Heh heh, Blanche Bennett Miss, there are no rules in battle. Think about it—if we’re going to kill the Skeleton Battalion, how will we survive? Their revenge is terrifying. But if you die here too, the Archmage will definitely go berserk. Skeleton Battalion versus Archmage—at the very least, both sides will suffer heavy losses. That way, we can enjoy life.”
In close combat, the mage and the seal master were evenly matched. The seal master was a grown man, so he clearly wasn’t afraid of a delicate girl. The dagger was razor-sharp; with just a gentle push, her life would be snuffed out.
“Heh heh, easy now, don’t kill her just yet. After we take care of Byrd, we still want to enjoy the Archmage’s beloved disciple. That’ll make Master Douglas even angrier, haha!”
“Mr. Byrd, are you feeling stiff all over?”
Byrd took a deep breath, even his battle aura was affected. He’d been caught off guard—he never expected the other side to have such a vicious poison. But then again, with a seal master around, and every seal master being an alchemist, brewing poison was nothing unusual.
But corpse poison—now that was truly vicious.
Episode 1, Chapter 6: A Small Test of Skill
Clap... clap... clap...
“Bravo, everyone! I didn’t expect to learn such a profound lesson right after coming down from the mountain. Thank you, thank you.” Gavin Clark clapped and laughed, while Little Black snorted beside him, knowing the action was about to start.
“Heh heh, little brother, every man for himself, right? I can see you’re a smart guy. How about this: I’ll let you have Miss Blanche Bennett’s red pill. How about it? Every noble child in the royal city dreams of it!” A greatsword warrior walked up to Gavin Clark, smiling warmly, even lowering his sword to show he meant no harm.
“Watch out!”
Two daggers shot out. They’d been watching this kid for a while, but there was a strange horse beside him. It looked like a unicorn, but no one had ever heard of a black unicorn before. Such a naturally pure creature wouldn’t tolerate even a speck of color, let alone being pitch black. Still, better safe than sorry.
Normally, everyone pays attention to the one speaking and ignores the others. At that moment, two other greatsword warriors not far away struck at the same time. They were well-known figures in the Water Empire. Ambushing an unknown kid was a bit low, but if things went wrong today, they could die horribly. Caution was a must—they’d already discussed it.
Boom...
Battle aura shot skyward, blasting the two daggers to the ground.
“God, oh God, dragon battle aura!!!” The seal master cried out in terror. These weren’t ignorant nobodies—they recognized that color, that feeling. It could only be dragon battle aura!
The three greatsword warriors were dumbfounded too. How did a dragon suddenly appear?
“Little Black, go! If a unicorn doesn’t show its power, people will think it’s just an ugly horse!”
“Hiss...” The thing Little Black hated most was being called ugly. These guys dared to look down on him? That’s right, their eyes were full of contempt!
Crack! A bolt of lightning exploded. The nearest greatsword warrior didn’t even have time to activate his battle aura before being struck, his upper body frozen into an ice sculpture. As Little Black attacked, Gavin Clark pounced like a magical beast, his whole body flying through the air, striking at the waist and shattering his opponent.
You must be absolutely ruthless to your enemies!
Seeing things go south, the other two greatsword warriors charged in as well. When it’s life or death, even if it’s a dragon, you have to fight!
Unfortunately, Gavin Clark didn’t know any proper warrior techniques. Those orthodox moves had nothing to do with him. With a leap, he landed and swept both legs sideways. In real combat, almost no one fought like this—in fact, no one had ever seen such... messy moves. But with just one sweep, he struck the legs, the weakest point of battle aura defense, breaking bones.
Dragon battle aura shockwave!
Gavin Clark’s dragon battle aura didn’t last long—after all, he wasn’t a dragon and could only release it in bursts. But the power was more than enough. In the earlier fight, Gavin Clark had realized how strong they were, so he went all out from the start. At the same time, the enemy was careless—who would have thought an unremarkable young man would have such terrifying strength?
Meanwhile, the dark unicorn had already skewered its opponent on its horn. But Little Black still wasn’t satisfied—damn it, they actually called him ugly!
Unicorns are solitary creatures, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have parents. He was abandoned at birth because he was black. For unicorns, who are extremely picky, it was as if a human gave birth to a monkey—utterly unacceptable.
But he survived!
In the blink of an eye, the enemy was reduced to ashes. The seal master was stunned—what the hell just happened? An unexpected game-changer had appeared out of nowhere.
“Don’t come any closer, or I’ll kill her!”
Blanche Bennett, who was being restrained, was about to explode with anger. Since they were a team, her equipment had obviously been checked by the enemy, or else she would have blasted him away by now.
“Whatever.” Gavin Clark didn’t even look at the two of them. Kill her if you want—what’s it got to do with him? “Handsome Little Black, come here and help him detoxify.”
