Chapter 11

“Bombardier bees, attack!”

I had absolutely no confidence in my shooting skills, so right after the Scatterbeast fired, I immediately switched to a more reliable attack mode.

Bombardier bees possess simple intelligence, and their automatic target-tracking ability is even more precise than the most advanced missiles on Earth. Plus, I had formed a bombing cluster with three bombardier bees. That unlucky Saber-toothed Tiger, under my calculation, didn’t even have time to let out a final roar before being blown to pieces by me.

Everything went perfectly according to plan, except for one small accident.

At the very instant I launched my attack, that mysterious girl suddenly sped up and lunged at the Saber-toothed Tiger, so the explosion from the bombardier bees caught her in its blast as well. The shockwave from the explosion sent the mysterious girl flying more than ten meters away. Unsurprisingly, when she landed, she was covered in blood and passed out without a sound. The result of this “hero saving the beauty” was only slightly better than killing the beauty and saving the villain—I took out both the beauty and the monster at once.

This outcome left me utterly dumbfounded, unable to react in any other way. It wasn’t until Lifeboat 15 sent a reminder: “That female intelligent lifeform is not yet dead. You’d better bomb her again with the bombardier bees…” that I snapped back to my senses and rushed over, trying to revive her.

I completely ignored the suggestion from Lifeboat 15; only an idiot would follow such advice. After she fainted, the mist-like aura shrouding the mysterious girl slowly dissipated. When I picked her up, her delicate and charming face was only a dozen centimeters from mine, and her breath, fragrant as musk and orchids, brushed against my face.

Chapter 9: If I Kiss Her, What Will Happen to the World?

“If I kiss her, what will happen to the world?” This dirty thought popped up without my brain’s permission. And then an even dirtier thought followed: “Her appearance is over ninety percent similar to Earth humans, and the success rate of mating is 1.5%...” This, too, lingered around the last shred of my rationality, refusing to leave.

“Calm down, I need to calm down. I’m just an otaku, not some perverted creep.”

“But… it seems harmless to steal a kiss while she’s unconscious. Should I kiss her cheek? Or her lips?”

These two choices, both testing my moral bottom line, tormented me greatly.

“Kiss her cheek, that’s not too perverted! But since I’m already kissing her, what’s the difference between fifty steps and a hundred? Kissing her lips would be more satisfying, and I haven’t had my first kiss yet! …Damn it, maybe I should just lose my virginity while I’m at it!”

Just as I was torn between good and evil, with the pure angel in my nature battling the invincible demon, the mysterious girl in my arms let out a faint moan.

“Crap! She’s waking up. Should I knock her out again, satisfy my beastly desires, and then rescue her…” I’m sure I’ve never been such a scumbag in my life—this is all the fault of those alien bastards.

“Please let me go!”

When such a mysterious girl woke up, her first words made me feel deeply ashamed.

My mind was a bit hazy at the time, so I didn’t pay attention to whether my hands were behaving themselves. And Lifeboat 15 didn’t record the scene either, so this little mystery remained unsolved for decades to come.

“Heh, haha, um… may I ask your name?”

If I knew how to sweet-talk, I wouldn’t be an otaku. The mysterious girl propped herself up with her hand and saw my messy, bird’s nest-like hair and the shabby old coat I’d never changed since being imprisoned—something I’d bought cheap at a street stall, and it wasn’t in great shape to begin with. She immediately frowned slightly.

“The Saber-toothed Tiger was prey I’d been tracking for days. Your sudden attack wasted all my efforts and injured me. Do you think us Hunters are easy to bully?”

When the girl stood up, that faint misty aura appeared around her again, but at the time, all my attention was drawn to her slightly angry, charming face, so I didn’t notice this unusual phenomenon at all.

“I’m just someone who got lost in the mountains. If you want the Saber-toothed Tiger, take it. I only fought back to protect myself…”

“Nonsense! Someone who can use a wind-type magic gun to hunt would be afraid of a Saber-toothed Tiger?”

“Wind-type magic gun?” I glanced in surprise at my two Scatterbeasts and suddenly understood—this girl had misunderstood.

I had browsed some translated materials about this planet before. The so-called magic gun is a technology left behind on this planet by an alien shipwreck as unlucky as the Champa people. Its basic principle is different from Earth’s firearms; it uses compressed energy crystals—a technology only a level-seven civilization would have—as its power source. Its power isn’t necessarily greater than gunpowder firearms, but it has the advantage of nearly unlimited shots and requires no reloading.

Because the bullets of a magic gun are actually separated energy released from the compressed energy crystal. A standard compressed energy crystal can fire over ten thousand times.
