Chapter 4

"Yes, Claire Senior Sister. Master’s primordial spirit has completely vanished, it seems to have been utterly destroyed by the heavenly tribulation. However, before Master passed away, he sent us a message. He told us that the Qing Nang Heavenly Book has already gone to the mortal world to seek a new owner. Master hopes that we can assist the new owner of the Heavenly Book and restore the prestige of the Tianyi Sect!"

The woman in white was stunningly beautiful, her figure graceful. Her eyes sparkled as she spoke gently, "Alright, I will be leaving for a while. You all must train diligently and not let down Master’s expectations!"

"Yes, Senior Sister!"

Chapter 3 Acupuncture

"William Foster!! What’s wrong with you? Why are your eyes so red and your eye sockets so dark? What did you do last night? If you can’t treat patients properly today, you’re dead meat!"

Early in the morning, Jessica Clark’s angry roar echoed through the surgery office—

"William Foster! You brat, why is there a cockroach in my tea leaves? It must have been you, right?! William Foster! You’re finished, don’t even think about getting your bonus this month!"

"Director, I’m still on probation, I don’t get a bonus," William Foster said quietly.

Jessica Clark roared, "Then don’t even think about getting a single cent of bonus for the next six months!"

A few young nurses in the surgery department watched nervously, all secretly worried for William Foster. This young university graduate—no one knew how long he could last.

William Foster sat down in his own office, which was really just a treatment room. Minor injuries and pains were handled here; for surgery, you had to go to the operating room. William Foster had no experience, so of course he wasn’t qualified to operate, and his surgical skills were actually quite average. But his acupuncture technique was unique—when it came to fine needles for acupuncture, he was practically unmatched.

He had just sat down when suddenly a commotion erupted outside. Several patients’ family members rushed in, panicked, shouting, "Doctor! Please save my brother, he’s got a head injury!"

Soon, a patient with blood streaming from his head was wheeled in. William Foster quickly got up, checked the wound, and hurriedly asked the nurse to prepare gauze and iodine for stopping the bleeding.

At that moment, Jessica Clark walked in and shouted at William Foster, "Why are you taking this case? Can you stop the bleeding? You must stop it immediately, or the patient will be in danger! Get him to the operating room!"

A nurse nearby whispered, "The operating room is full. Two people are having fibroid removal, four are having hemorrhoid surgery, and sixteen are getting circumcised…"

Jessica Clark immediately became anxious, "Then what do we do? We have to stop the bleeding!"

At this point, William Foster said, "If it’s just stopping the bleeding, I can do it!"

"You?" Jessica Clark looked at him with undisguised contempt, "You’re just a fresh university graduate. Besides rubbing on medicinal wine, what else do you know?"

William Foster said nothing, took out his needle pouch, pulled out two needles, and said to the patient, "Please don’t move, this will be over soon!"

With that, he located the acupuncture points and skillfully inserted the needles. Unlike other doctors’ pinching and twisting methods, William Foster just gave a slight shake of his hand, and the long, thin needle was already in the patient’s body—the patient didn’t even feel a trace of pain!

After two needles, the blood from the patient’s head stopped abruptly, as if it had been plugged. Several young nurses exclaimed in surprise, "William Foster is amazing, he really stopped the bleeding with just two needles!"

William Foster chuckled, but inside he was sweating nervously. He had only glanced at this acupuncture point and technique in the Qing Nang Book, and wasn’t sure if it would really stop the bleeding. Now it seemed this medical classic truly lived up to its reputation!

Jessica Clark was equally incredulous. What he couldn’t accept most was that after William Foster’s two needles, the patient’s wound actually began to heal slowly! In fact, after the two needles, there was no need for stitches at all—a piece of gauze would suffice.

But Jessica Clark wouldn’t say that. If it were really that simple, how would the hospital make money?

So Jessica Clark put on a lofty air and calmly told the patient’s family, "This is just a temporary fix. For complete healing, we still need to put in a couple of stitches to prevent the wound from splitting. Also, I’ll prescribe you some medicine to aid recovery."

"Okay, okay, thank you, doctor!" The patient’s family didn’t understand any of it and hurriedly thanked him.

Jessica Clark returned to his office, wrote out a prescription, and with the surgery fee and medicine, the bill came to over 1,000 yuan!

"Wow, that much…" The patient’s family was a bit surprised, but said nothing and obediently went to pay.

...

William Foster didn’t say another word throughout, watching the whole process. He asked himself in his heart, "Is this really the career I dreamed of? Healing the world—could it really just be a dream?"

A scene from deep in his memory surfaced in his mind: a little girl squatting in a corner, pitifully watching the passersby, her face pale. Even now, the memory made William Foster’s heart ache faintly.

"William Foster, come here a moment!" Jessica Clark called out.

William Foster went to the office. Jessica Clark glanced at him and said, "Where did you learn your medical skills? I may not know much about traditional Chinese medicine, but I do know that stopping head bleeding with just two needles is no simple feat."
