Chapter 6

"How about going to work in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department?"

William Foster was taken aback and said, "Isn't there already Director Brooks in the TCM Department? He's one of the top ten famous TCM doctors!"

"Old Brooks? He's about to retire, his eyesight is failing—do you really think he can still remember the pharmacy?"

William Foster thought for a moment, then asked, "How many people are there in our hospital's TCM Department?"

"One, just Director Brooks. If you go, he leaves, and it's still just one."

William Foster was astonished. Seeing this, Dean Harris smiled and said, "But it doesn't matter. The TCM Department has a subordinate herbal pharmacy, and there are two pharmacists in the pharmacy, plus two nurses. It seems Grace Bennett has also applied to transfer to the pharmacy. So, what do you think?"

William Foster felt the director was pushing him step by step into a pit, and the bait happened to be Grace Bennett, someone he found hard to resist!

Chapter 4: The Girl in the Sword

"No way, absolutely not! William Foster is not allowed to transfer to the TCM Department!"

Jessica Clark slammed a palm on the table, startling the few doctors nearby with this Old Director’s outburst.

"What’s wrong? Why is Director Clark so angry?"

Grace Bennett's voice came, and all the men in the department immediately straightened their backs.

Jessica Clark's expression softened a bit and said, "Grace Bennett, you see... William Foster has just adapted to our surgery department, and our doctors all like this hardworking young man. Why don't you talk to the director and ask him not to transfer William Foster to the TCM Department, okay?"

Grace Bennett snorted with a laugh and suddenly said, "You all like William Foster? I don't think so! Every time after work, I see William Foster taking out the office trash. He's always the one cleaning the windows. And once, I saw your son's summer homework book on his desk, Director Clark. What's that about—hiring hospital staff to do your son's homework? I wonder, if the boss found out, what would she think?"

Jessica Clark's face immediately turned ashen. Grace Bennett's words were icy. Among all the nurses in the hospital, probably only she dared to speak to a department head like this. And she seemed to know the real owner of the hospital, whom Jessica Clark had only met a few times—a rather mysterious person.

Grace Bennett brushed her red hair from her forehead and said charmingly, "Anyway, I'll come pick up William Foster this afternoon. From now on, he'll belong to the TCM Department. I hope you won't make things difficult for him."

Jessica Clark felt embarrassed and couldn't help but sneer, "Him? Just a greenhorn—he thinks he can hold up the whole TCM Department?"

Grace Bennett sneered back, "If he can't, can you!?"

The scene was extremely awkward. Neither Jessica Clark nor Grace Bennett would back down at all, and everyone admired Grace Bennett—the beautiful young nurse who dared to challenge her superiors—more and more.

"Director, why not let William Foster go over for some experience? If it doesn't work out, we can always bring him back," a doctor suggested cautiously.

His words gave Jessica Clark a way out, so Jessica Clark said insincerely, "Alright then, young people do need to gain some independent experience."

Grace Bennett's expression changed quickly too, and she immediately flashed a charming smile. "Great, Director Clark, you really are understanding!"

At that moment, William Foster walked in from outside and heard Grace Bennett's last sentence, so he asked happily, "What? Are you giving me a raise?"

Grace Bennett smiled slightly, turned, and patted William Foster on the shoulder. "You will, very soon."

William Foster stood there, stunned.

……

At lunchtime, in the hospital's own cafeteria, William Foster walked cheerfully toward Tommy's table with his lunchbox. But from a distance, he saw Tommy sitting with the new nurse he was flirting with, Lily. William Foster paused, cursed "bastard couple," and then turned to find a seat in the opposite direction.

William Foster felt that in his twenty-four years, he had never had a girlfriend and was very lonely.

But as soon as he turned around, he changed his mind. Right beside him sat a beautiful woman in green with red hair—it was Grace Bennett!

Grace Bennett's face was fair and smooth, her beautiful eyes seemed to speak. Basically, any normal man would feel his heart flutter just from her glance. The best part was, she wasn't wearing any makeup, and her flawless skin spoke for itself. Such top-tier beauties were becoming increasingly rare.

Grace Bennett smiled and said, "So, do you not like how I look today?"

Grace Bennett just gave William Foster a cheerful smile, and William Foster's mind went blank.

"Um... you look great..." William Foster muttered to himself. Whether she looked good or not didn't really have much to do with him.

Grace Bennett was known as the number one beauty at Ren'ai Hospital. The male staff would be overjoyed just to exchange a word with her. And Grace Bennett rarely ate in the cafeteria. To run into her here, and by chance sit together, made William Foster feel that the recent events were just too strange. Had his luck, dormant for 24 years, finally exploded?

Grace Bennett didn't care how William Foster answered. She smiled and asked, "Do you have any thoughts about going to the TCM Department in the future?"

"None! As long as I can get away from Jessica Clark, that's enough!" William Foster replied firmly.

Grace Bennett pursed her lips and chuckled, "You're so weak. From now on, let big sister look after you!"

William Foster was confused, not knowing what she meant.
