Chapter 20

Elven bloodline? Brian Carter frowned. He was very curious about what humans without elven blood looked like. At least, the humans he had seen before who fought over the secret manual didn’t look any different from people on Earth.

Glancing at the three spears pointed at him, Brian Carter hadn’t reacted yet when Jack quickly stepped in front of him, his expression grave as he said to the three druids, “Don’t do anything. He’s my guest.”

“Guest?”

The three druids looked questioningly at the druids who had returned with Jack, and noticed that not only did Jack look serious, but the other druids also showed signs of concern on their faces.

At this moment, Jack turned to Brian Carter and said, “Brian Carter, I’m very sorry. It’s been a long time since any other races have appeared in our village, so they’re a bit on edge.”

The three druids guarding the village were even more secretly shocked. Normally, even when facing the village’s top warrior Megan Parker, Jack had never shown such humility. Why was he speaking this way to a human who didn’t seem to have any power at all?

Before the three druids could ask, the largest thatched hut atop the giant tree slowly opened, and out walked an old druid with white eyebrows and a white beard, looking aged but with a bright gleam in his eyes.

“Elder.”

Jack placed his hand on his chest and bowed to the elder druid, then turned to Brian Carter and said, “This is the only elder in our village, Elder Alfred.”

Elder Alfred nodded slowly, glanced at the angry-looking Katherine, then shifted his gaze to Brian Carter, his eyes immediately showing a hint of doubt as he said, “Jack, this is...?”

“Elder, this human with elven blood is called Brian Carter. He says he can heal Megan Parker’s wounds, so I brought him back.”

As soon as Jack finished speaking, the druids coming out from other rooms all gasped in surprise. Those who had seen Megan Parker’s injuries knew that unless a blood sacrifice was performed, no one could possibly heal him.

Even Elder Alfred, who was already advanced in years, showed a trace of surprise in his eyes and asked, “Human, are you a priest of the Temple of Light? Or a servant of the Temple of Darkness?”

“Temple of Light? Temple of Darkness?” Brian Carter looked puzzled. “What’s that?”

Elder Alfred’s expression darkened slightly, and his voice became more imposing: “Since you are not one of humanity’s so-called clergy, what makes you so confident you can heal Megan Parker? You should know that for druids who worship the Druid God, even the healing of holy light or shadow has little effect.”

“What nonsense is this?” Brian Carter frowned in annoyance, cleared his throat, and said, “Jack once promised me that if I could heal Megan Parker, you would reward me handsomely. That’s the only reason I reluctantly came here to treat him. Don’t think I’m begging you, or that I have to cure this Megan Parker. If you don’t want my help, fine! Goodbye!”

Brian Carter turned around with a show of nonchalance, his face tinged with anger as he strode off. In reality, he was extremely nervous inside. If he really left this druid village, he wouldn’t even know which way to go to get out of Paradise Forest.

Jack let out a strange cry, took big strides, hurriedly caught up with Brian Carter, and quickly blocked his way, whispering, “If the elder’s words offended you, I apologize on his behalf. But please, no matter what, don’t leave just yet, okay?”

Brian Carter’s anxious heart finally settled down again, but he still maintained a calm, dissatisfied look on his face, only nodding slightly and saying in a deep voice, “Fine.”

Jack, having received an answer, quickly ran to the elder’s tree, climbed up to the elder’s side, and lowered his voice, “Elder, this man can use a spatial ring...”

“What?” The always composed Elder Alfred was so shocked he nearly fell off the branch. Luckily, Jack was quick to steady him.

“Are you serious?”

At this moment, Elder Alfred’s expression grew grave. As the elder of a village, he naturally understood what kind of power was required to be able to use an artifact.

Heaven-rank! Experts on the continent are divided into Heaven-rank, Earth-rank, Human-rank, and the unranked. Only true Heaven-rank experts can be recognized by artifacts! Only true Heaven-rank experts can use artifacts!

Elder Alfred carefully studied Brian Carter’s back. As an experienced old warrior, he found it hard to believe that a young man like Brian Carter, from whom he couldn’t sense any power, could be a Heaven-rank expert! He also found it hard to believe that there could be such a young Heaven-rank expert on the continent!

Unless! Unless his strength was enough to make his body young again! A trace of surprise flashed in Elder Alfred’s eyes as the legend of top experts regaining their youth crossed his mind in an instant.
