Chapter 20

The reactions of the two robots also confirmed Brian Carter's suspicion. He drew his swords at the same time. The Sifeng Sword and another blade split to the left and right, spreading like wings.

Brian Carter's speed wasn't particularly fast, but the positions of his dual swords were just right. As soon as the two robots raised their arms, the soaring swords severed them. It was as if both sides had rehearsed, with every movement fitting together seamlessly.

The robots felt no pain. Even as sparks flew from their severed arms, they pressed forward without hesitation, throwing punches at Brian Carter.

At this moment, Jason Clark finally realized what was happening. Although he didn't know why the fight had suddenly broken out, Jason Clark instinctively blocked one of the robots.

Limited by their power cores, the robots, though made of steel, had no advantage against a level-five mecha fighter like Jason Clark. Plus, Jason Clark still wore his Battle Wolf Fist Gauntlet. With a punch landing squarely on the robot's chest—

With a loud bang, the steel plate on the robot's chest shattered and flew apart, and the chip and power core connected to the chest were smashed to pieces by the punch.

The robot staggered, the light in its eyes dimmed, its head tilted, and it collapsed.

On the other side, Brian Carter had already driven his sword precisely into the chest of the other robot, completely destroying its power core.

Brian Carter tried to pull his sword out, but the standard Tang sword was embedded in the robot's chest and wouldn't budge no matter what.

Jason Clark wanted to help, but Brian Carter shook his head. "No need. Even if we get it out, the sword will be ruined. Let's go..." The standard Tang sword was of average quality, and forcing it through the robot's chest plate had nearly destroyed it.

"What on earth is going on?" After leaving the elevator, Jason Clark couldn't help but ask. They had started fighting for no apparent reason and ended up destroying two robots—this was serious trouble. Only now did Jason Clark realize something was wrong.

Brian Carter said, "There's not much time. We need to go. The robot guards will be here any minute."

At this point, Jason Clark had no way out. He could only follow Brian Carter's lead. The two of them picked up the pace and rushed out before the Iron Triangle Building closed.

Once outside the Iron Triangle Building, Brian Carter let out a sigh of relief. "If it weren't for the underground races invading and most of the forces being dispatched below for support, and the quantum mainframe malfunctioning, we would never have escaped..."

"Why are we running away?" After all the trouble to sneak in, now they were fleeing halfway through. Jason Clark just couldn't understand.

Brian Carter shook his head and said, "Hurry, the robot police are coming. I'll explain later."

The vast B District was silent, making Jason Clark afraid to even breathe loudly. Following behind Brian Carter, turning left and right, they ran for about two kilometers before arriving at a traditional Bright Empire-style villa.

Red walls and green tiles, upturned eaves and ornate brackets. The courtyard was filled with various rare flowers. The whole building had an ancient, elegant, and gentle style. It was clear at a glance that the owner was a woman.

Brian Carter vaulted over the more-than-one-meter-high fence, ran to the building, and shouted up at the window, "Sophie, Sophie..."

After calling twice with no response, Brian Carter drew his sword, ready to break in, but the window above suddenly opened. A young girl poked her head out, exclaiming in surprise, "Brian Carter, what are you doing here? Come up quickly..."

As she spoke, the door to the room had already opened automatically. Brian Carter waved to the dazed Jason Clark standing by, "Come in, quick."

Jason Clark, looking miserable, followed Brian Carter slowly into the room. The furnishings were exquisite and luxurious, with a traditional imperial charm. But Jason Clark had no mind to look around, nor even to greet the beautiful woman in the living room. He just found a chair and sat down, looking lost.

Having followed Brian Carter through all this, he thought Brian Carter was up to something earth-shattering.

But after all the trouble, tricking the base's top leader, and wrecking law enforcement robots in the headquarters, after causing so much trouble—who would have thought Brian Carter was just here to see his girlfriend.

This realization hit Jason Clark hard. He felt both regretful and helpless, thinking how foolish he was to follow a teenager in on a whim! This job was as good as over!

But Brian Carter had saved his whole family before, so no matter how dissatisfied Jason Clark was, he wouldn't show it. Compared to three lives, this was nothing. Still, he couldn't help but feel stifled.

The beautiful woman, however, remained calm and composed. Though Jason Clark was quite rude, she didn't mind at all. It was as if Jason Clark was an old friend, and she felt no awkwardness or discomfort.

"Sir, would you like some tea?" The beautiful woman placed a cup of tea on the table beside Jason Clark.

"Thank you." Only then did Jason Clark snap out of it.

"Sir, what happened outside?" the beautiful woman asked curiously.

Only then did Jason Clark look up at the woman across from him. He saw her slender eyebrows, bright and lively eyes, and delicate features—she had the gentle beauty typical of women from the Bright Empire. It was clear at a glance that she was of pure Bright Empire blood.

Her every word and gesture was graceful, and she had a gentle, water-like aura that made people instinctively trust her. Jason Clark hesitated for a moment and said, "The underground races broke into the base, and the quantum light network's communications were cut off, causing many casualties."

"Ah..." The woman covered her mouth in surprise, her bright eyes showing a hint of shock. After a pause, she said, "So that's what happened..."
