When he returned to his residence and patted his pocket, he realized he hadn’t brought his keys or anything else with him. This wasn’t surprising—he’d been home all night, and in the summer, with thin clothes, it wasn’t really suitable to carry things.
Just as Gavin Dawson was feeling a bit troubled, a burst of footsteps suddenly sounded from the stairs. Then, Lily Harris appeared from around the corner of the hallway. When she saw Gavin Dawson, her cheeks were still slightly flushed, but she quickly came downstairs to stand in front of him. Casually opening her handbag, she took out a few items.
“These are your room key and ID card. After taking you to the hospital yesterday, I had to help you re-register for admission, so I came back to get them. The landlord was watching at the time. I didn’t touch any of your other things, just helped you turn off your computer. When you go back, if anything is missing, you can come upstairs to find me.”
After saying this, without waiting for him to react, Lily Harris stuffed the key and ID card into Gavin Dawson’s hand, then suddenly turned around and hurried upstairs like a beautiful butterfly fluttering away.
“Uh…” Gavin Dawson finally snapped out of it, a strange feeling rising in his heart. He and she hadn’t taken the same car back—how did she know he had just arrived home?
Chapter 004: A New Interview
In the end, Gavin Dawson didn’t think too much about it. After opening the door with his key, he entered the room, but the state of the room gave him quite a shock. The summer quilt that had been messily piled in a corner by the bed was now neatly folded and placed in the center of the headboard, and the floor was spotless.
Many clothes and miscellaneous items had also been tidied up. At first glance, it was truly a refreshing sight. For a moment, Gavin Dawson even wondered if he’d entered the wrong room. Although he wasn’t particularly sloppy, he definitely didn’t pay this much attention to cleanliness.
“Heh…” Shaking his head with a wry smile, Gavin Dawson suddenly felt a touch of warmth, and an urge to go upstairs and thank Lily Harris. But given the current awkwardness between them, it didn’t seem appropriate, so he quickly suppressed the thought.
“This matter is over and done with. I’d better check if there are any replies to the resumes I sent out. Once I’ve earned some money and paid her back, I’ll thank her then.” With that, Gavin Dawson walked over to the computer desk.
Soon, the search was done, but there was still no response to the resumes he’d sent out.
“Looks like I can’t just focus on my own field anymore. I need to try other industries.” With a helpless sigh, Gavin Dawson thought about how he’d studied a two-year design program in college. The resumes he’d sent out before were almost all for designer positions at advertising companies. Now, if he still couldn’t find a job, he’d have to consider working as a network administrator or a waiter—after all, he had to eat.
Over the next hour or so, he quickly sorted out three design industry positions that were hiring, as well as two other entry-level jobs. After some thought, Gavin Dawson decided not to submit his resume online anymore, but to print out paper copies and apply in person.
His first target was still a designer position in the advertising industry. If these three didn’t work out, he could try the others later.
Chuangyuan Advertising was located on the south end of Weipei Road in Hecheng, in the Guanghe Building. This area was considered a high-end office district in Hecheng, and any company based here was of considerable scale. Chuangyuan Advertising was also one of the most well-known large companies in Hecheng’s advertising industry, enjoying a high reputation in the field. The entire ninth floor of the building was occupied by this one advertising company.
The exterior design of Chuangyuan’s ninth floor was also quite impressive. After exiting the elevator, there was a deliberately constructed pool of clear water in front, and directly facing the entrance was a curved arch bridge. Around it were miniature rockeries, pebbles, and occasionally a few goldfish swimming under the bridge. At first glance, it was indeed pleasing to the eye.
After hurrying to Chuangyuan, Gavin Dawson took a few surprised glances at the beautiful scenery, then straightened his clothes and walked toward the glass doors behind the arch bridge. Pushing open the glass doors, he saw a simply and pleasantly decorated reception area. A receptionist in a light gray uniform skirt, with her long hair tied back and a sweet appearance, immediately stood up and gave Gavin Dawson a gentle smile. “Hello, who are you here to see?”
Receptionists at big companies were indeed usually attractive, and this one was no exception. Slightly flustered by her sweet smile, Gavin Dawson shyly stepped forward. “Hello, I’m here to apply for a designer position. Could you tell me where I should go?”
“Oh, I see. Just follow this path straight ahead…” The receptionist was momentarily surprised, then smiled sweetly again and enthusiastically gave Gavin Dawson directions.
After thanking her, Gavin Dawson quickly followed the directions to the HR department. There, in the corridor outside, three or four young men and women were already waiting.
He smiled and nodded at the others, then quietly took a seat at the end of the line. After waiting for more than twenty minutes, and seeing the people ahead of him go in and come out, he straightened his clothes once more, knocked on the door, and went in.
