Chapter 10

He was probably saying that he was brought in by President Walker and wanted to meet Matthew Walker, just to directly recommend himself to the company boss. He had actually seen people like this before—rejected by HR during the interview, but still wanting to get into a well-known company like Chuangyuan, so they resorted to underhanded methods.

“I’ll wait here until President Walker arrives…” Gavin Dawson was growing more and more annoyed with Miles Lewis, but he still held back his anger, wanting to wait until Matthew Walker arrived to explain.

“Heh, you really think you’re clever, trying to bypass me and recommend yourself directly to President Walker?” Miles Lewis changed his expression again. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you—if you don’t leave now, I’ll have security escort you out!”

Then, Miles Lewis immediately turned to the woman at the front desk and said, “Notify the building’s security department.”

“Manager Lewis?” The woman at the front desk was startled. Regardless of whether what Gavin Dawson said was true or not, if the building’s security really came up to throw someone out, it would be far too embarrassing.

“Go on, call them. What, you don’t understand Chinese?” Miles Lewis’s face changed again, scolding her harshly. Then he turned back to Gavin Dawson, “You still have a chance to leave on your own. If building security comes up, you won’t even have the chance to leave with dignity.”

After saying this, he sneered coldly and muttered with disdain, “What a joke. Just a poor kid from the countryside, and he has the nerve to embarrass himself here.”

At this moment, all the Chuangyuan employees nearby were left dumbfounded, staring curiously at the scene. Although no one said anything, the abundance of surprised, suspicious, and mocking looks made Gavin Dawson feel like he was sitting on pins and needles, his face burning with embarrassment.

Because he was closer, Gavin Dawson also heard Miles Lewis’s muttering, and finally understood why the other man disliked him so much. Once he realized it, Gavin Dawson’s anger only grew. So what if he was from the countryside? So what if he graduated from a third-rate university? That didn’t mean he had to let others humiliate him.

But after his anger peaked, Gavin Dawson actually smiled and repeated, “I’ll wait until President Walker arrives.”

After all, he really wanted this job, and it wasn’t wise to get into a fight with a department head on his first day. Even though right now, he really wanted to punch Manager Lewis’s smug, chubby face a few times.

“Hey, who do you think you are? You think you can just meet President Walker whenever you want?” Manager Lewis snorted coldly again, then said to the woman at the front desk, “Lynn Bolton, have you notified the building’s security department?”

“I have.” Lynn Bolton nodded, though she looked a bit reluctant, and then cast a sympathetic glance at Gavin Dawson.

Gavin Dawson was furious, but couldn’t think of a good solution before Matthew Walker arrived. Still, he couldn’t let himself be thrown out so disgracefully, so his mind started racing. He quickly took out his phone, intending to call the number Matthew Walker had used to call him yesterday. But as soon as he took out his phone—

The smile on Manager Lewis’s face grew even wider, and his contempt for Gavin Dawson deepened. This is what he calls a phone? Someone carrying this kind of junk dares to claim he knows Matthew Walker?

Regardless of the other man’s expression, Gavin Dawson quickly dialed the number after taking out his phone, but to his frustration, the call wouldn’t go through—bad signal.

Just then, the elevator outside the office stopped on the ninth floor, and several figures stepped out.

Maybe it was the sound of the elevator dinging and the approaching footsteps, but Manager Lewis assumed it was building security and, without turning his head, pointed at Gavin Dawson in disgust, “It’s him, he’s causing trouble at Chuangyuan—get him out of here!”

But at that moment, several Chuangyuan employees who had been watching, as well as the front desk’s Lynn Bolton, all greeted someone behind Manager Lewis, “Good morning, President Walker.”

“Huh?” Manager Lewis was stunned. Matthew Walker was here?

When he turned around, he saw the slightly haggard-looking Matthew Walker smiling directly at Gavin Dawson. Even though he was still several steps away, he called out, “Mr. Dawson, you really came, haha.”

With that one sentence and that one smile, everyone—including Manager Lewis and the other employees—instantly froze, their previous suspicion and amusement turning to stone. So Gavin Dawson really did know President Walker?

Then, could it be that he really was invited by President Walker? Manager Lewis suddenly felt a tickle in his throat. Now, it seemed his own situation was getting a bit precarious.

Chapter 007: Ability Intensifies

“Good morning, President Walker.” Gavin Dawson also greeted the approaching middle-aged man, glancing at the dumbstruck Manager Lewis beside him, secretly relieved. If that guy had really called security to throw him out, he would have lost all face.

“Mm.” Matthew Walker nodded, then suddenly turned and snapped at the stunned Manager Lewis, “Miles Lewis, who did you just say was causing trouble at Chuangyuan?”

As he said this, Matthew Walker’s expression was extremely unfriendly. In this small space, aside from a few old Chuangyuan employees, only Gavin Dawson was an outsider. It was obvious who Miles Lewis had been trying to throw out.
