This sentence completely ignited the fuse of the female swordsman's outburst. Anna Morgan's eyes instantly seemed to blaze like fire, her skin began to redden, and two faintly curved horns appeared on her head. A powerful aura radiated from her whole body as she gritted her teeth and said, "How can the honor of the Wells family be disgraced by such a worthless thing..."
"Crack!" The tightly interlocked Kongming lock began to show cracks, and then, as if it were metal, the hard black yemu wood was shattered by tremendous force.
Everyone stared in shock at the Kongming lock, now reduced to a pile of splintered wood. Albert Harris pointed at Anna Morgan with a trembling finger, so angry he couldn't speak, and had already put her on the laboratory's blacklist in his mind—this was desecrating the priceless wisdom of a grandmaster!
Raymond Brooks felt a chill run up his spine: Mars is just too dangerous, I’d better hurry back to Earth.
After violently breaking the Kongming lock, Anna Morgan regained her senses and returned to normal, only then realizing what she had impulsively done. She saw that Alice's eyes were shimmering with tears, her voice choked: "Anna Morgan, this gift was my favorite..."
"Alice, I'm sorry, I..." Anna Morgan tried to explain helplessly, but no matter how she explained, the shattered Kongming lock could not be restored.
Alice didn't cry out loud, but lowered her head in grievance, her thin body trembling slightly as if she was trying hard to hold back. Knowing she had been reckless, Anna Morgan said apologetically, "Don't be sad, little princess, let's go to Lake Lanbo."
Alice looked up, her eyes red, and shook her head: "No, last time in the Rainy Jungle you were already scolded by my sister. I don't want to get you in trouble again."
Clearly, she was trying to make someone else take the blame, playing hard to get! Raymond Brooks saw through it and gave the little loli a new rating for her scheming nature.
"Don't worry, little princess, you are Anna Morgan's best friend. What's a little punishment?" Anna Morgan patted her chest, not caring about the dramatic rise and fall, and declared heroically, "Not to mention Lake Lanbo, even if it's the Xilang Mountain caves, I will protect you!"
"You said it! Besides this trip to Lake Lanbo, next time you have to take me to Xilang Mountain too!" Alice finally broke into a smile through her tears. Anna Morgan had a vague sense that something was off, but couldn't quite figure it out for the moment. She crouched down and carefully picked up the splintered pieces of black yemu wood.
Alice, eager to go to Lake Lanbo, urged, "What are you doing? Anna Morgan, let's hurry to Lake Lanbo now."
"Wait a minute, let me see if I can find someone to restore these fragments."
"That's easy," Alice said indifferently, "The Kongming lock was made by Raymond Brooks anyway, just have him make a few more."
Anna Morgan's fingers suddenly froze in midair, the fragments scattering to the ground. Seeing that she finally realized, Alice quickly added, "Dear Anna Morgan sis, people from the Wells family always keep their word!"
Anna Morgan stood up dejectedly. Raymond Brooks had just given this female swordsman the label of 'big boobs, no brains', when he heard Alice say to him, "Raymond Brooks, this princess is granting you special permission to come along."
Raymond Brooks quickly shook his head. Going out with beauties was supposed to be a delightful experience, something he would normally jump at, but with these three—one scheming girl, one energy-draining girl, and one violent girl—he doubted he’d even make it back alive.
"Are you going to reject this princess's kindness?" Alice snorted discontentedly.
"Raymond Brooks, you haven't been out since coming to the Demon Realm. Since the little princess is so kind, you should go with her," Albert Harris suddenly spoke up. "Remember to continue reading that 'Fundamentals of Herbalism' when you get back. Tomorrow I'll teach you the basics of plant identification."
Albert Harris's words surprised the three girls. This clearly meant that Raymond Brooks had become his apprentice, not just the original test subject!
Albert Harris was one of the top potion masters in the entire Demon Realm. Even the ruler of Crescent Moon, Princess Xia, treated him with great respect. Now he had actually taken a human captive as his apprentice! And the only official apprentice at that!
Although being a potion master's apprentice didn't mean much to Alice and Anna Morgan, for Raymond Brooks it was like gaining a life-saving talisman, giving him a legitimate identity to live in the Demon Realm. Otherwise, as a human, he might be killed the moment he left the lab.
Alright, this guy is decent—at least my efforts weren't wasted. Raymond Brooks gave Albert Harris a grateful look and agreed, albeit reluctantly.
This time, Alice didn't lead Raymond Brooks around in circles like before, but headed straight out.
Only then did Raymond Brooks realize that this "manor" was actually the outer court of the Crescent Moon City royal palace, while the inner court was where the two princesses lived, heavily guarded. Last time, he was lucky to run into Alice; if he had been spotted by the inner court guards, he might not have survived.
For the legendary Demon Realm, rumored to be full of man-eating demons, Raymond Brooks was also a bit curious. What was the real Demon Realm like? (Please bookmark, please recommend, please support... everyone, let it grow fat first, then you can slaughter it slowly.)
Chapter 7 Mind Reading? Alice's Bloodline Talent
Desolate. That was Raymond Brooks's first impression of Crescent Moon City.
