Chapter 10

At the entrance of the alley, a figure walked in and immediately saw William Parker standing there calmly. The figure belonged to a man wearing sunglasses and a crisp suit, the very image of a successful professional. If not for the murderous aura emanating from him, no one would ever associate him with the profession of a killer.

Upon seeing William Parker, the killer was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected William Parker, whose speed matched his own, to be so young. This was indeed beyond his expectations. However, he only paused for a moment. The killer before him made no unnecessary movements or words—a gleaming dagger appeared in his hand, his wrist flicked, and the dagger whistled through the air at incredible speed. At the same time, his figure darted forward, and somehow, another identical dagger appeared in his hand.

A trace of a cold smile appeared in William Parker’s eyes. His master had once told him, in the cultivator’s manual, that to eliminate any enemy who wants to kill you, you can use any means you deem fit. Don’t suppress your instincts—cultivation is also about cultivating the mind.

A flash of light streaked by—another gleaming light. The whistling wind was piercingly sharp, and with a thunderous bang, the dagger flying toward William Parker exploded in midair. The light that shattered the dagger was a flying knife, shimmering with a white glow.

The sound of the dagger shattering made the killer’s heart tremble violently. He instantly halted his advance and retreated. At this moment, he fully understood that he had encountered a formidable opponent. Completing the mission was important, but staying alive was even more so.

His gaze locked onto the flying knife still coming at him, and his body flashed away. But just then, another gleam of light shot out, the whistling sound rising again. He had just dodged the first flying knife, but in the killer’s eyes, another identical flying knife rapidly expanded in his pupils. Then, his thoughts ceased, and he collapsed to the ground, not even having time to utter a scream.

Chapter 7: Rogue, Cohabitation

Looking at the corpse on the ground, William Parker felt a strange sensation rise in his heart. Although he had fought wild beasts countless times in the deep mountains and killed all kinds of ferocious animals, this was the first time William Parker had killed a person!

Shaking his head, William Parker pulled his thoughts back. Since he had set foot on the path of cultivation, the road to power would be filled with bloodshed. This was also something his master had told him. From the age of sixteen, he had lived in the deep mountains for three years. William Parker’s eyes were pure and honest, and his experience of the outside world was far less than that of many people. However, the world his master spoke of was much larger than the city he lived in. If you underestimated William Parker’s intelligence because of his simple gaze, you’d be in for a bad time. The world in his heart was broader than that of countless others.

As for William Parker’s combat skills, there was no need to doubt them. Three years of training in the mountains had exposed William Parker to dangers unimaginable to ordinary people. His master often left him in areas teeming with wild beasts, letting him fend for himself and learn how to survive in a brutal environment. Even when facing extreme danger, even threats to William Parker’s life, his master never showed up. To become strong, the road could never be smooth.

Turning around, William Parker walked toward Lily Morgan. When he reached her side, the pure and sunny look returned to William Parker’s eyes.

By the faint light, Lily Morgan had also seen William Parker kill the assassin. She was truly shocked. Why did William Parker, with such pure, untainted eyes, possess such strength, and even kill so decisively, without the slightest hesitation? Was he a cold-blooded demon? But William Parker had used his abilities to save her, and had chosen to bleed himself rather than let Emily Carter be harmed!

“Let’s go. There’ll be trouble if we stay.” William Parker gave Lily Morgan a gentle smile and said softly.

“Okay!” Nodding, Lily Morgan walked out of the secluded alley with William Parker. She looked at William Parker and said, “Don’t worry, there won’t be any trouble.”

William Parker didn’t doubt Lily Morgan’s words. He also knew that someone had always been secretly protecting Lily Morgan. For someone as powerful as that assassin to target Lily Morgan, her identity was certainly extraordinary.

“I hope you’ll keep this a secret for me,” William Parker said to Lily Morgan.

“Mm, I will,” Lily Morgan nodded in agreement. But both she and William Parker understood that the people protecting Lily Morgan probably already knew.

Emily Carter returned home, her face full of displeasure, but also tinged with worry. She sat straight down on the living room sofa, her eyes fixed on the open door, as if waiting for something.

“Bastard, pervert!” Emily Carter pounded the sofa cushion with her small fists twice. Thinking back to what had just happened, Emily Carter felt a wave of frustration. That pervert William Parker had chosen to save Lily Morgan in a moment of crisis and ignored her. The killer’s murderous intent hadn’t been directed at her, so she didn’t know that Lily Morgan was the target. She only knew that bastard William Parker had abandoned her and run off with Lily Morgan in his arms.

Although she hated that bastard William Parker, she was, after all, his fiancée. William Parker’s choice to save Lily Morgan made her feel that her self-esteem or vanity had been hurt.
