Chapter 11

“However, that pervert’s speed and reflexes were really fast!” Emily Carter thought to herself. She was pushed backward by William Parker, and then chaos broke out in the crowd. Emily Carter only saw William Parker holding Lily Morgan, but as for William Parker’s speed and where the assassin went, Emily Carter had no idea.

Footsteps sounded, and Emily Carter looked toward the door, seeing William Parker walking in. He tossed aside the cushion in his hand. Emily Carter stood up, hands on her hips, glaring angrily at William Parker as if she were about to interrogate a criminal. But in her heart, Emily Carter couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief.

Seeing Emily Carter’s angry yet charming expression, William Parker gave her a slight smile and said, “Wife, I made you worry. Don’t worry, I’m fine!” He had carried Little Lily away and escaped, ambushed the assassin in an alley, and all of this hadn’t taken much time. Not long after he left with Lily Morgan, people from the The Morgan Family arrived, but William Parker had already quietly left and quickly returned home.

“Phew.” Emily Carter puffed out her cheeks and exhaled angrily. “Pervert, why would I worry about you? It’d be better if you didn’t come back. I’m worried about Little Lily. Is she okay?”

“Little Lily is fine. She went home.”

“Where did you run off to with Little Lily? Did you, you pervert, do anything to her?” Emily Carter interrogated William Parker.

William Parker looked Emily Carter up and down, his gaze shifting as he asked weakly, “Are you jealous?”

“Me, jealous? Not only are you a pervert, you’re also a narcissist.” Emily Carter widened her beautiful eyes and replied disdainfully.

“Oh, if you’re not jealous, then what does it matter to you where Little Lily and I went?” William Parker continued to play innocent.

Emily Carter was speechless and extremely frustrated. This guy who had spent years in the mountains seemed so simple and pure, yet every word he said hit the mark, leaving her with no retort. It was clearly premeditated, not just random talk.

Seeing that Emily Carter didn’t say anything more, William Parker tossed the bag in his hand onto the sofa and headed toward the bathroom. Emily Carter turned her gaze and happened to see the glaring red on William Parker’s hand.

“Wait, what happened to your hand?” Emily Carter asked William Parker again, surprised to find that he was actually injured.

“Ran a bit too fast and fell.” William Parker replied casually, then went to clean his wound.

“Fell?” Emily Carter frowned, and suddenly her whole body trembled. The scene of William Parker pushing her away flashed abruptly in her mind, and she remembered a flash of red in his eyes. But at the time, she’d been too shocked to think about it. Now, seeing William Parker’s wound, she couldn’t help but stand up in surprise, watching his back as he entered the bathroom.

“Did William Parker get hurt saving me?” Emily Carter’s heart skipped a beat, a strange feeling welling up inside her. She went to her room to rest; it was already getting late.

William Parker casually rinsed off, cleaned the blood from his wound, and under the gentle flow of his innate qi, the injury had almost healed. William Parker sighed to himself. If he had reached the second level of the innate realm, he could freely channel his qi, and with his physical defense, even a flying knife wouldn’t be able to hurt him.

After washing up, William Parker changed into sleepwear, walked out of the bathroom, took out his key, and directly opened the room he used to live in. Under the fluorescent light, Emily Carter was wearing a loose, sheer nightgown, reclining sideways as if deep in thought. At that moment, the door suddenly opened. Emily Carter immediately sat up straight. The good impression she’d just had vanished in an instant, her face turning pale with anger.

“This is my room. I’m the only one with a key to it,” William Parker said innocently, spreading his hands.

“Your room? Then where am I supposed to sleep?” Suppressing her anger, Emily Carter sneered at William Parker.

William Parker walked over to the bed, looked at the spacious mattress, and nodded. “It’s big enough. Two people should fit just fine.”

“Pervert! Scoundrel! Get out of my sight right now!” Emily Carter finally couldn’t stand William Parker’s ‘innocence’ and roared.

“I’ve already seen you, held you, and now I’m just sleeping with my fiancée. What’s the big deal?” William Parker ignored Emily Carter’s angry shouts, decisively lay down on the bed, curled up, and went to sleep. He hadn’t slept on such a soft bed in three years—it really brought back memories.

Emily Carter was almost infuriated to the point of spitting blood. She thought to herself, how is this someone from the mountains? He’s clearly a streetwise rascal from the city.

Her expression shifted, and after a while, a mischievous smile appeared in Emily Carter’s eyes. She took a shiny pair of scissors from the drawer and gripped them tightly. With her father around, she couldn’t make the first move against William Parker, but this pervert would definitely try something tonight, so he’d have only himself to blame.

Thinking this, Emily Carter smiled, turned off the light, and lay down as well. But her eyes never closed, ready to act at any moment.

She didn’t notice that William Parker’s body shivered a little, feeling a chill all over. This willful, spoiled, yet sunny girl who grew up in a greenhouse might really do something crazy. With that thought, William Parker stayed on high alert, curling up obediently on his side, not daring to move!
