“If we look at it from an unscientific perspective...” Tony Stark stroked the small mustache on his chin, then said, “Then from a magical point of view, is it possible—like in many fantasy novels—he had some kind of adventure, because he came from a universe in another dimension? If, according to our previous speculation, their universe can observe ours, and even knows everything about my future, then wouldn’t he also know where some of those power-boosting adventures are? Wouldn’t that make sense as an explanation?”
If it had been just over a month ago, he would never have even considered this possibility, but this world had gradually begun to reveal its extraordinary side to Tony Stark, forcing him to think along these lines.
Things that can’t be explained by science might be possible on the extraordinary side.
“Sir, that is possible!” JARVIS spoke up.
“Then that’s quite the adventure, to let an ordinary person become so strong in just over a month!” Tony Stark said with some emotion, and there was a hint of envy in his words.
Even though this was a world dominated by capital, and he was one of the very top people in it, who wouldn’t want to become stronger themselves?
“Keep monitoring him, and adjust the alert level according to his situation!” Tony Stark said. “Especially keep an eye on whether he starts killing people indiscriminately and becomes an uncontrollable super criminal. If he starts heading in that direction, then even if it means exposing ourselves, we must mobilize all resources to eliminate him!”
Deep down, Tony Stark was still worried about Brian Carter.
If Brian Carter couldn’t control his mindset after his power skyrocketed, then he would have to be killed, to prevent disaster.
Tony Stark was absolutely ruthless enough to make that decision!
As he spoke, Tony Stark had already arrived in front of the oak desk in the basement. On the desk lay that mysterious diary.
But when he saw the contents recorded inside, his pupils contracted slightly.
Tony Stark saw this, and his pupils contracted slightly—what?
He saw a name that shocked him—not anyone else, but Obadiah Stane!
Someone he had never suspected! Because when he was suddenly hit with the tragic news of his parents’ deaths, it was Uncle Obadiah Stane who stayed by his side. Even after he graduated from college and got his doctorate, it was only then that he returned to take over Stark Industries. Before that, it was always Uncle Obadiah Stane who helped manage the vast Stark Industries Group.
Because of this, he had never suspected him, and after his father died, Obadiah Stane had vaguely taken on the role of a father figure in his heart.
But he never would have imagined that his uncle actually wanted to kill him?
Why?
Why would that be?
He couldn’t find a reason, especially since he was leading Stark Industries to greater and greater success. Even if it was just for more money, there was no reason to target him.
No, if it was for money...
Tony Stark suddenly thought of a possibility. The Stark family had been single heirs for generations. If he died, then all the assets and shares he left behind, with no will, no wife or children, would be completely devoured by others.
That’s the cruelty of the capitalist world!
Those big families value having many children for a reason!
But he still couldn’t believe that his Uncle Obadiah Stane would harm him. This was almost enough to destroy his faith, to burn away years of trust.
“This could be something meant to drive a wedge between me and Uncle Obadiah Stane...” Tony Stark muttered to himself. His first instinct was disbelief.
But the inherently suspicious nature of a capitalist made him doubt. Even though his trust in Obadiah Stane made him not want to believe any of this, his capitalist instincts made him a little suspicious.
No, he had to get to the bottom of this, even if it was just to clear his doubts about Uncle Obadiah Stane. That alone made it necessary.
“Sir, even if it’s just an attempt to sow discord, there’s no harm in investigating!” JARVIS offered his opinion at just the right moment.
“That makes sense!” Tony Stark quickly made up his mind. Although he seemed carefree and indifferent to many things on the surface, no matter what, he still cared about his own life.
If it really came to that, he wouldn’t show any mercy!
In the world of capitalists, it’s not uncommon for fathers and sons to fight each other in court, let alone an uncle with no blood relation.
“Immediately hack into all of Stark Industries’ internal networks and see if there are any other intranets I don’t know about. Also, start searching all available data right away, and investigate all of Uncle Obadiah Stane’s phone records to see if there were any calls to Afghanistan. If there were, I want to know exactly who they were to!” Tony Stark ordered at once, with countless thoughts flashing through his mind.
