Chapter 19

However, in the days to come, he would no longer be in New York City, because he had already visited every martial arts circle in the city. Next, he planned to visit martial arts school owners all over the United States, sparring and learning along the way, in order to quickly raise his strength to the level of Huajin.

Time flew by, and two months passed in a flash. The North American continent had entered autumn.

At the Stark Industries Group headquarters building, all the shareholders gathered together for the quarterly meeting.

Tony Stark sat at the head of the table, with Obadiah Stane on his right and the executive assistant Pepper Pepper Potts on his left.

Pepper Potts was reporting to the shareholders on the overall business performance of Stark Group for the quarter.

Meanwhile, Obadiah Stane sat beside her, wearing his usual kind and gentle smile, but inside he was completely filled with murderous intent.

Because after a full two months, Tony Stark still refused to go to Afghanistan, always coming up with all sorts of excuses, and the excuses were ridiculous—either he was off playing with some magazine model, or meeting some Hollywood star, or else he claimed he needed to do research.

This made him extremely frustrated!

Although this was typical behavior for Tony Stark, and he usually wouldn’t interfere, this time he had made up his mind to get rid of him.

Chapter 15: Cleaning Up Obadiah Stane

In Obadiah Stane’s eyes, the existence of Tony Stark had become completely unnecessary.

As for Tony Stark’s intelligence and talent, so what?

With money, can’t you hire scientists? If one isn’t enough, hire two; if two aren’t enough, hire twenty; if twenty aren’t enough, hire two hundred.

That’s just how simple and crude the logic of a capitalist is!

Most importantly, he was about to take control of the company himself, and would no longer have to assist those two arrogant Stark father and son.

Suddenly, at that moment, the office door was pushed open, and a group of men in black suits and sunglasses walked in.

Immediately, the senior executives at the Stark Industries Group meeting became flustered and at a loss.

“Who are you?”

Obadiah Stane was the first to stand up. His tall and imposing figure looked quite intimidating.

“You must be Obadiah Stane. Please come with us. We’re the FBI. You are now suspected of colluding with Afghan warlords and selling out American interests and secrets. Come with us for questioning!”

The man in black at the front said bluntly.

“What?” Obadiah Stane was stunned. He hadn’t expected that the matter had been exposed.

In fact, this wasn’t even a secret in the American arms dealer circles. After all, the war in Afghanistan had cost two trillion dollars, which was undoubtedly a feast for arms dealers.

And weapons are consumables—the more that are used up, the more that are bought. So colluding with local Afghan warlords to increase consumption wasn’t considered anything strange in those circles.

Even the local garrison was helping to use up supplies.

Otherwise, how could the Taliban keep getting stronger the more they fought, and never be wiped out?

But what Obadiah Stane never expected was that something so obviously under the table could still be found out.

“What do you want? I know your director. Let your director talk to me. You’re not qualified!” Obadiah Stane shouted angrily.

He then looked at Tony Stark, hoping he would speak up for him, but Tony Stark just remained calm and made no statement at all.

“You’re not qualified anymore. You’re now guilty of treason. Do you understand?” the lead FBI agent shouted.

Seeing this, as Obadiah Stane was about to be dragged away, he suddenly realized what was happening, looked at Tony Stark, and roared, “Tony, is it you? How could you do this to me!”

At this moment, Tony Stark finally showed a hint of emotion and said, “Uncle 奥巴代, why not? At least I didn’t plan for you to die in some terrorist attack, right?”

Hearing this, Obadiah Stane understood completely—Tony Stark really did know all about his schemes over the past while.

No wonder Tony Stark had refused to go to Afghanistan no matter what; clearly, he had found out something through some channel.

He didn’t know how Tony Stark had found out, but at this point, it didn’t matter at all—he was about to become a prisoner. “Tony, Tony, you can’t do this to me! I supported your father, and then I supported you. Without me, you wouldn’t even have been able to take over safely!” Obadiah Stane was grabbed by the FBI agents, struggling as he tried to play the emotional card.

“Yes, my good uncle, without you, I definitely wouldn’t have had such a smooth path. But what I can’t understand is, why did you want to kill me?” In Tony Stark’s eyes there was uncontrollable pain and disappointment.

He had truly regarded the other as a father figure, someone who filled the void left by losing his father at a young age.

But now, seeing what the other had done, he was deeply disappointed.
