Chapter 14

Uncle-in-law David Clark also looked up at the front desk, winked at him, and, behind Julia Walker's back, gave him a thumbs-up. Brian Carter didn’t spot the trio of Ye, Xu, and Ma in the lobby, so after greeting everyone, he picked a table, sat down, and handed the menu to Julia Walker. “Even if you’re not hungry, order a drink to moisten your throat.”

It was not even 3 p.m. yet, and at lunch Julia Walker had eaten three bowls of tomato and egg noodles.

Julia Walker didn’t rush to order. “Your aunt and uncle are so calm when you greet them?”

Brian Carter sighed, “My cousin has been single since birth and is already 30. It’s driving them crazy. Seeing you come with me, they’re definitely getting the wrong idea.”

“I don’t even know how to introduce you.”

Julia Walker grinned mischievously. “Who was it this morning that said if you want to get rich, you could just lie down and make money? Since you saved my life, I’ll give you a chance to win while lying down. Want it?”

They’d known each other for less than 12 hours, but it already felt much closer than most friends who’d known each other for years. After all, there was a life-saving favor involved—a classic suspension bridge effect.

She’d been left by her biological father to grow up in North America, so her personality was pretty outgoing.

In her mind, Little Brian seemed really funny—he could make people feel both flustered and amused, was a lot of fun, and his cooking was absolutely explosive!

One meal and he’d won over her stomach.

Her stomach, raised on Western food, had been ruined by a single meal of Chinese noodles.

It wasn’t that she liked Brian Carter romantically, but she definitely had a good impression of him, so her teasing was more casual.

Brian Carter stared at her, and after a stare-down lasting over 20 seconds, it was Little Brian who turned away first, coughing. “Ahem, your family’s little fortune isn’t enough for me to squander. Not enough money. If you want me to chase you, you’ll have to build up a few billion first.”

Julia Walker huffed, wanting to hit him, but too embarrassed to do anything more, so she got up and ran to the front desk to chat with David Clark.

And sure enough, while Little Brian was staring at the system page, considering whether to buy another skill or two, Julia Walker was having a great conversation with David Clark and Laura Clark, who had just come back from the restroom.

It wasn’t until someone pushed open the front door and John Clark’s cheerful greeting rang out that Laura Clark ran over, grabbed John Clark, and started scolding him. “Zhiqiang, can’t you see how accomplished Brian is? First time bringing a girl home, and she’s so pretty…”

“When are you going to make me proud?”

John Clark, “???”

John Clark looked over at the noodle shop’s front desk, where Julia Walker was beaming and waving at them.

Pretty? Julia Walker’s looks outshone all the female leads and supporting actresses in the entire Genesis series.

Eric Bennett and Mark Foster just greeted her casually, then politely made their way over to Brian Carter. When they arrived, Mark Foster handed over a card. “Brian, here’s 800,000. If you want to take some for expenses, go ahead. Next time, before we take off, you can give us the rest to use as funds again.”

“This time was two days longer than before. Our group dumping insulin has already attracted the attention of some people in Vancouver who want to talk to us.”

Eric Bennett added with a smile, “Some of those people are legit, some not so much. But don’t worry, leave it to me and Mark Harris to handle.”

When it comes to making money, everyone’s a pro!

The next moment, Eric Bennett glanced at Julia Walker, who was chatting again with Laura Clark, and praised, “Not bad, kid. I thought you’d be as introverted as Zhiqiang, but in just a few days you’ve already got such a great target?”

“Someday you’ll have to help your Mr. Clark out, or I’m afraid he’ll die alone.”

Looking at the bank card, Brian Carter felt both happy and like crying. Eight hundred thousand? That’s a lot, but it’s only enough to buy 8 points of strength or speed, and then it’s gone.

If he spent it too fast, he wouldn’t even have money left to pay taxes when the time came!

The dazzling All-Heavens Mall was full of all sorts of tempting treasures, constantly reminding him that he was just a broke guy.

Chapter 10: Make Your Wallet a Little Fatter?

Night fell, and it was time for the noodle shop to close.

Laura Clark gave Brian Carter a hug, muttered “good luck,” and said loudly, “Little Brian, aren’t you going to walk Julia out? Julia just got back to Hong Kong from North America, she’s not familiar with the area, and it’s not safe at night.”

Little Brian obediently went outside with Julia Walker to the roadside, directed her to drive, and hopped into the back seat himself. The two of them merged into the traffic.

This scene left Eric Bennett, John Clark, and the others exchanging glances. After a moment of silence, John Clark started complaining to his old buddies. “Eric Grant, you always say it’s easy for you to pick up girls because of your nice suits, car, and business cards, and that’s why so many beauties throw themselves at you.”

“Look at Brian—the little princess of a jewelry company is taking him for a ride on her motorcycle! I have to say, Julia is really great. She’s a rich girl but doesn’t have any airs at all.”

Eric Bennett, “……”

So now it’s my fault, huh?? You can’t just look at how Brian Carter always has great girls around him. Have you looked in the mirror? See how much better looking he is than you?

Not only is he young, handsome, tall, and masculine, but his sense of style is way better than your always goofy, clueless look.

Mark Foster chuckled, “So, when’s our next run? First come, first served. Next time, maybe John and I will try Toronto? Eric Grant, you keep working your Vancouver connections?”
