Brian Carter continued explaining the food, “You know about Mingda, Yihai, and other top real estate developers, right? Mingda is organizing the group and leading the way, planning to invest billions over time to buy land in Sheung Shui, New Territories, with plans to build luxury hotels, private resorts, roads, hospitals, and a whole series of investments.”
“They’ve already acquired a lot, but there’s one plot that belongs to the New Territories gentry, Old Dean’s parking lot. Because there are underground caves, they can’t lay foundations to build high-rises, so Old Dean can only watch the surrounding area develop.”
“Mingda, Yihai, and other groups’ real estate agents only want to buy that land for 200,000 HKD, and are negotiating with Old Dean.”
“If I offer 300,000 and cut in, then publicly advertise that I’m going to build a charity Buddhist temple or Taoist temple on that land, it would instantly ruin the overall plans of Mingda and the other groups.”
“By then, if they want to buy it from me, I wouldn’t even talk to them for less than 3 million.”
“In the same amount of time, I can legally and lawfully snatch a piece of meat from the mouths of the big groups. Doing this will offend Mingda’s Old Bennett, Yihai’s Old King, and the others, but it’s really profitable.”
Julia Walker, “Uh… is that legal?”
Brian Carter shrugged, “Of course it’s legal. An ant gnawing at an elephant will just offend the elephant, that’s all.”
This is the second pot of gold on Eric Bennett’s road to fortune in the Genesis story, where he fiercely took a bite out of the Ye family, made ten times the profit, and then was set up by Old Bennett and Old Dean working together, ending up in jail.
Then Eric Bennett quickly went to shine shoes for Brian Howard and got out.
Chapter 11: The person in front of me is young and handsome, and speaks well
In the Genesis series, there are many business opportunities. The original path to fortune for the trio of Ye, Xu, and Ma brothers had plenty of moves to copy or intercept.
Their first pot of gold was helping the village granny Helen Lane build three three-story village houses, selling them for a profit. Helen Lane’s godson claimed he was helping her get rich by building the houses, but halfway through he ran off with the money, leaving behind a pile of debt and three unfinished buildings.
Eric Bennett took over, saying he could finish the buildings and make them saleable, asking for half the equity in return. In the end, it worked out… then he ran into the deal to buy land from Old Dean in Sheung Shui, New Territories—buying for 300,000 and selling for 3 million, extorting Mingda.
Whether it was the first or second pot of gold, there were always trivial troubles and aftereffects.
Getting rich was never smooth or peaceful.
At this stage, Brian Carter is steering those three toward the business of dumping insulin, hijacking the origin of their fortune. No matter how you look at it, he’s helping Eric Bennett and John Clark.
A table full of delicious breakfast was set. As they started eating, Julia Walker commented, “If you’re really not afraid of causing too much trouble and being hunted down by Mingda, then go find Old Dean.”
“Can’t you just enjoy a good life? Why do you always want to make your money in such thrilling ways?”
He was being blunt: Mingda, Yihai, and the other top construction groups in Hong Kong, with a total estimated investment of billions of HKD in major projects, and you want to rob them… and even disgust them in the process.
Just thinking about it, you know how many problems that could cause.
Brian Carter smiled calmly, “If I pull this off, as long as I’m not greedy and don’t keep buying land and building, it won’t be easy for them to mess with me in business.”
“At most, they’ll send a bunch of thugs to rough me up? The chance of them using guns is extremely low.”
“A few million—guys like Paul Bennett and Yihai’s Old King, those respectable types—wouldn’t bother with guns for that. If it’s cold weapons, I’m not afraid.”
Julia Walker wolfed down a hot egg tart, waving her other hand in front of his eyes, “You’re only 18, do you really need this much excitement?”
“I’m starting to worry—if some woman ends up with you, how crazy would her life be? Would she be scared every day you leave the house that you might not come back?”
Little Brian was speechless, “Just eat. After breakfast, I’ll head to the New Territories, or maybe to Sha Tin Racecourse. I don’t even have Old Dean’s contact info, just know he likes betting on horses.”
And so, breakfast ended.
Julia Walker realized she was stuffed and could barely move, slumping on the sofa, not wanting to get up.
She could only smile awkwardly, “Don’t think all I do is eat—it’s just that your cooking is too good. I only grew up in Hong Kong when I was little, then was sent to North America when I got older. The Chinese food there isn’t authentic at all. I miss the real flavors from my childhood, but can’t find them.”
“The food here is just too tempting.”
Brian Carter was even more speechless, “Then just rest at home. I’ll go check out the New Territories.”
From Causeway Bay to the New Territories, a small scooter would definitely run out of battery before getting there, so he’d have to take the bus.
Julia Walker struggled to get up, “No, I’ll go with you. I just want to see how exciting it’ll be when you extort Mingda and Yihai.”
“It’ll be even more fun than getting back the money stolen from my family.”
She’s a curious girl, okay!
Why do good girls fall for bad boys so easily? The more well-behaved they are in daily life, the stronger the suppressed rebellious side inside. When they meet a wild, smooth-talking guy, it’s easy to get hooked and fall in.
The Zhou family isn’t super rich, but with several jewelry chain stores, losing a few million in cash doesn’t affect their business or daily expenses. They’re a small wealthy family. ……………
Afternoon, a villa in Sheung Shui, New Territories.
When Brian Carter and Julia Walker rang the doorbell at the main gate, a housekeeper quickly came out, opened the small door, and asked who they were.
