Chapter 8

“The genre is definitely fantasy.” Brian Miller crossed his legs, a smug smile on his face, and said, “After all, it’s going to be copyrighted. But the title isn’t decided yet. I’ve thought of a few, but none of them are quite satisfying. They just don’t feel right.”

“You’re a bona fide superstar.” Mr. Harris’s tone was almost flattering: “Any title you come up with will attract countless readers. No need to worry so much.”

Brian Miller was clearly pleased by Mr. Harris’s words. He nodded with a smile and said, “Of course. I haven’t even written a single word of the main text and people are already coming to negotiate the copyright, starting at three million. But the title is still very important. It’s going to be adapted into a game in the future, so if the title is too tacky, that won’t do. I want this book to reach the pinnacle, so I can’t be careless. Everything has to be the best!”

Chapter 6: Unbeatable Luck!

David Clark was listening on the side, eyes wide open.

Reach the pinnacle? Isn’t the top author on Fengyun Chinese Web that guy called 问道? I wonder how good this guy is, but he sure sounds arrogant…

“Yeah, you really have to put some thought into it.” Mr. Harris’s attitude now was completely different from when he faced David Clark earlier. With a fawning smile, he said, “I wonder if you’re free for lunch, superstar? Let’s grab a bite together? Our company really values your book. If we could collaborate on an adaptation, that would be perfect.”

Hearing this, Brian Miller’s eyes lit up and he immediately nodded: “Sure, no problem, my treat.”

“Haha, I’d feel bad making you spend money.” Mr. Harris immediately started gathering his things: “Shall we head out now?”

“Alright.” Brian Miller stood up, then suddenly looked at David Clark sitting in the chair and asked in confusion, “And this is…?”

“Oh, he’s here for an interview. I almost forgot about him.” Mr. Harris handed David Clark a small notebook: “Leave your phone number and wait for our call.”

So I just get ignored like this? What happened to my good luck?

David Clark shrugged, took the notebook and glanced at it. There was a long list of names and phone numbers. Looks like even this position is highly competitive.

But whatever, if I can’t stay here, there’s always somewhere else! Worst case, I’ll look elsewhere!

After writing down his phone number, David Clark got up and left. The superstar Brian Miller immediately walked out with his arm around Mr. Harris’s shoulder. As they walked, Brian Miller asked, “What position was that guy applying for?”

Mr. Harris replied, “Game planning assistant. He’s got no degree, no experience, didn’t even bring a resume.”

“Graduated from some no-name college? No wonder.” Brian Miller didn’t even bother to look at David Clark, laughing, “Now that universities are expanding enrollment without limits, this is the result. It’s just like overusing fertilizers and growth agents—tons of quantity, terrible quality, and a huge backlog.”

“Exactly.” Mr. Harris nodded vigorously: “Sigh, it’s so hard to find a satisfactory candidate these days…”

Not far away, David Clark frowned as he listened.

What’s wrong with a no-name college? I’m earning my living with my own hands—how does that bother you?

“You’re so cocky, watch out or you’ll get beaten up!” David Clark spat fiercely, thinking, Damn it, today’s supposed to be my lucky day—better watch out for trouble coming out of nowhere!

When it comes to luck, the bad never works, but the good always does. Just as David Clark was thinking this, he suddenly heard a thunderous roar from not far away: “There he is! Guys, get him!”

What the hell? What’s going on?!

David Clark turned around and saw four or five tough-looking young men heading straight for the superstar Brian Miller.

The leader was at least 1.82 meters tall, with a buzz cut, a small earring, and a wolf tattoo on his neck. He stood in front of Brian Miller, gave him a hard shove, and cursed, “You bastard, seducing my wife, huh?!”

With such a scene unfolding, a huge crowd quickly gathered. David Clark hurried over to watch the commotion.

Is my luck really this good today? I don’t even have to do anything to see someone get put in their place?

“Who’s your wife?!” Brian Miller was clearly stunned. After all, even though he was a superstar, he was basically a homebody and had never seen anything like this. He hurriedly said, “Big bro, let’s talk this out. I haven’t been in contact with any women lately!”

“Still playing dumb?” The leader slapped him hard—smack! “Blue T-shirt, black shorts, slippers, and a bag—that’s you, no mistake! Guys, get him!” Without giving him a chance to react, they started punching and kicking him.

The beating was so brutal that just hearing the sounds made David Clark’s hair stand on end!

Every punch landed with a thud! Oh man, look at this mess…

Keep going, don’t stop!

After a few more punches and kicks, one of the guys suddenly looked off into the distance and whispered, “Crap, Wolf Bro, I think we got the wrong guy. I just saw someone else dressed the same over there…”

“Huh?” Wolf Bro’s eyes darted around, then he patted Brian Miller on the shoulder with a grin: “Sorry, we’re filming a show—it’s an entertainment program. You looked like a good sport, so we picked you—alright guys, let’s wrap it up!”
