In the blink of an eye, they were gone without a trace...
David Clark’s jaw dropped wide open: “Oh shit, seriously?!”
The hapless Brian Miller sat dumbfounded on the ground, staring blankly for quite a while, unable to react. By the time he came to his senses, the other party had already vanished without a trace—he didn’t even have time to call the police...
“Damn it, what rotten luck.” The slap Brian Miller took just now had left his face still swollen. He struggled to his feet, patted the dust off his clothes, and muttered gloomily, “What the hell is all this...”
David Clark covered his mouth and left the scene. Once he reached a place with few people, he immediately burst out laughing!
Wahahahahahahaha! Awesome!
Looks like I’m invincible today!
Ah, what a great mood! David Clark hummed a tune as he continued searching for a suitable job. No wonder they say good things put you in high spirits. After checking out a few more booths, he suddenly spotted a booth for a company called Bohuan Group Film & Entertainment Co., Ltd. David Clark’s eyes lit up instantly—this is it!
I’m unstoppable today, let’s go! David Clark stepped forward and asked, “Hello, is your company still hiring?”
“Hello.” The person at the reception was a middle-aged man of about forty, dressed very formally in a suit and tie. Hearing David Clark’s question, he looked David Clark up and down and said, “Most of the basic positions have already been filled. There’s only one last position left.”
Only one position left? Heh, my luck really is in!
David Clark quickly asked, “What position is it? Are the requirements high?”
“The requirements aren’t high, just a bachelor’s degree will do. But correspondingly, the pay isn’t high either.” The middle-aged man wasn’t exactly friendly, but not cold either. He said flatly, “An assistant lighting technician in our company’s film crew quit because the salary was too low. The crew is already in the final stages, so it’s only for two months.”
Assistant lighting technician—it sounds fancy, but honestly, it’s just a temp job doing odd tasks.
For most people, this would definitely be a pointless position, but for David Clark, it was a different story!
Odd jobs! Temp work! Only two months!
I really am unstoppable today! This job might be useless to others—low pay, short term—but it’s practically tailor-made for me, isn’t it?!
Chapter 7: Everything’s Going Smoothly—Awesome!
“This is great! I can do it!” David Clark’s eyes were practically sparkling! Truly, when one door closes, another opens! That game planning assistant job earlier was clearly a dead end, but who would’ve thought there’d be such a perfect position waiting here?!
“Oh? Really?” Seeing how quickly David Clark agreed, the middle-aged man was a bit surprised. “Are you sure? This is just a temp job. Our company doesn’t offer permanent positions for this, and the pay isn’t high.”
Generally, people look for longer-term jobs for stability.
So temp jobs are usually unpopular, especially since the man already said the pay was low—the last person quit because of it. That could only mean the pay really was low.
But David Clark didn’t care about that at all. All he needed was a stepping stone—low pay didn’t matter, as long as there was pay.
“No problem!” David Clark grinned. “Having work is better than sitting at home sponging off my parents, right? If you don’t mind, I’ll take the job?” After saying this, David Clark suddenly paused, then asked quietly, “But... um, my education isn’t quite enough. I only have a junior college diploma. What do you think...?”
There’s no hiding your education, so David Clark had to ask up front—better than being kicked out later and getting his hopes up for nothing.
“Hmm, not enough education?” The man frowned and thought for a moment, then looked at David Clark and said, “That is a problem.” Maybe he was just tired of being here—after all, it was just this one pointless position left. If he didn’t fill it, the job wasn’t done. If he did, this was the only one willing to do it, but the education wasn’t enough.
So he hesitated, then picked up his water cup and took a sip. “You seem pretty motivated. How about this: I’ll give you one minute to sell yourself. If I’m satisfied, I’ll make the call and hire you on the spot. How about it?”
Isn’t this basically an interview?
David Clark was honestly a bit nervous. One minute—if he blew it, it wouldn’t be easy to find another job this suitable.
So he quickly racked his brains, thinking about how to sell himself.
After more than ten seconds, he still hadn’t come up with anything. Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck—he had it!
“Okay.” David Clark composed himself, then slowly said, “Generally speaking, there are all kinds of reasons why employees quit, but only two are truly genuine: one, the money isn’t enough; two, they feel wronged. It all boils down to one thing: they’re not happy at work.”
“Pfft—!!!” The man was so surprised by David Clark’s words that he spat out a mouthful of water.
This kid must not want the job, daring to say that right in front of the company’s chief HR...
The man was actually a bit annoyed at first, but David Clark’s next sentence made him burst out laughing again—
