Chapter 19

"Uh... um..." Although the script was off, David Clark still had to express his gratitude for the woman's help: "Thank you for helping me act out this scene."

"It was nothing." The woman didn't take what had just happened to heart at all. She simply pulled out a wad of cash from her purse: "Thank you for keeping my phone safe. This money is compensation for the trouble I caused you earlier."

Hundred-yuan bills! Judging by the thickness, at least ten thousand!

What a huge temptation—why not take it if it's free, right?

"No need for that." David Clark didn't reach out to take it. He shook his head and said, "I really am pretty broke, but I can't accept this money—it's too much." Damn it, I still can't bring myself to do it...

"Oh." The woman thought for a moment, then said, "Then how much do you think you should take?"

How much is too much?

David Clark reached out, pulled a single bill from the stack, and smiled: "A hundred yuan. I wasn't planning to take any money, but after thinking about it, I'll just take a hundred. Maybe this way you'll be a bit more careful in the future and won't lose your phone again."

"That's an interesting way to look at it." The woman smiled with her lips pressed together.

You had to admit, a stunner was a stunner. Even though sunglasses covered nearly half her face, just that gentle smile was enough to leave David Clark staring in a daze for quite a while.

It was obvious—this woman was definitely a beauty, a real knockout!

On such an unlucky day, to run into a textbook rich, beautiful woman—David Clark felt more and more that today's script was off. What was with this unexpected turn of events?!

The woman seemed completely used to David Clark's reaction. After he snapped out of it, she put away the money on the table and said, "Since you don't want it, I won't insist. How about this: I'll buy you a cup of coffee as thanks."

"That works." David Clark agreed immediately.

Just then, the waiter came over and asked, "What would you two like to drink?"

"A cappuccino," the woman ordered, then looked at David Clark: "What about you?"

"I'll have the same." David Clark held up two fingers to the waiter. "Two, thank you."

"Alright."

After the waiter left, the woman picked up her phone and said, "I'm really grateful you returned my phone. I even prepared some cash earlier, but you didn't take it. So, here's my phone number. If you ever need help with anything, you can call me—think of it as me returning the favor."

An ordinary iPhone 6S, worth just over five thousand yuan.

But David Clark knew the woman's offer wasn't unreasonable. After all, the phone ended up in his hands, and he had no bad intentions.

Otherwise, if those photos got out, who knows what kind of sensation they'd cause—everyone's heard of a photo scandal, right?

Everything about this woman exuded an air of superiority. David Clark could easily imagine that her social status was far beyond anything he could comprehend.

And now she was offering to give him her number. David Clark was a bit stunned—should he take it or not?

But before he could decide, while David Clark was still dazed, the woman suddenly frowned, put away her phone, and in the blink of an eye, a stun gun appeared in her hand. She pressed it right against David Clark's chest, and her previously pleasant expression turned completely cold.

Oh crap!

David Clark instantly felt a chill shoot from the soles of his feet straight to the top of his head!

Chapter 15: The True Power of Extreme Bad Luck

For this woman to change so drastically—could it be that she found out he cracked her password?!

God, does it have to be this scary?! With her status, please don't do anything crazy! So this is what a truly unlucky day is supposed to look like?!

"Let's hope I haven't misjudged you," the woman said coldly. "Get up right now and take me to your place!"

Faced with this situation, David Clark was genuinely terrified.

Things were clearly spiraling out of control!

"Don't get excited, please don't get excited, let's talk this out!" David Clark was tense all over. This woman was definitely someone important, and that stun gun in her hand was no ordinary item. Who knew what kind of horror would happen if he got zapped?

"After I unlocked my phone just now, the photo album opened right away. The only explanation is that you cracked my phone password." The woman's voice was icy cold, and her presence made David Clark's skin crawl. "So you must take me to your place immediately. I need to check your computer to see if you've saved any of my photos."

Judging by her age, she was probably around twenty-one or twenty-two. David Clark understood—there were over three thousand lingerie and swimsuit photos. If they got out, who knows what kind of consequences there'd be. So her concern was reasonable. Anyway, I've got a clear conscience—I didn't save any of those photos, just looked through them once. It shouldn't be a big deal.

"Alright, no problem, um..." David Clark slowly stood up and then whispered, "Could you maybe put that thing down first? If it goes off by accident, that'd be a disaster—and besides, it's not good if someone else sees it..."
