"Hey, David Thompson, haha, did you hear? Just now, some unlucky guy at our school got hit by a meteor. I really want to meet this dude and maybe send him a funeral wreath."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the call.
"Hey, say something, I'm eating here!"
A hoarse voice came from the other end of the communicator, "Mark, that unlucky guy is me!"
Pfft...
Mark quickly looked up and finally noticed that David Thompson in the communicator was lying on a snow-white hospital bed. He was speechless.
"Alright, David Thompson, you need to rest now." The young nurse beside him said with a stern face. David Thompson could only helplessly turn off the communicator. Fine, might as well close his eyes and rest. He could hear two young nurses giggling nearby.
"This guy is really something, actually got hit by a meteor."
"Yeah, and except for a bit of shock, he didn't get hurt at all. What luck, hehe."
David Thompson pulled the pillow over his head, feeling like he'd embarrassed himself all the way to Mars. To think something this outrageous could happen to him—his luck was just "great"!
A wave of drowsiness washed over him, and he soon drifted off to sleep. After all, no normal person could get hit by a meteor and be totally fine.
Zzzzz...
A faint golden light, almost invisible to the naked eye, shimmered over David Thompson's body, and the surrounding machines suddenly dimmed.
"Self-check, three, two, one."
Beep, beep, beep, beep...
Examination report: Database damage at sixty-nine percent, thirty-two percent recoverable. Self-damage at ninety-one percent, recoverable.
Information detection: Successfully traversed parallel universe. Coordinate location: cannot return, unable to receive any information. Target location: energy sufficient, utilization rate fifteen percent, medium-level civilization.
Suddenly, the flickering light became more urgent... Master's presence, master, master...
Warning: Insufficient energy, insufficient energy. Entering self-repair sleep mode in three seconds. Three, two, one...
The golden light slowly retracted into David Thompson's body, and the surrounding machines returned to normal operation. David Thompson slept soundly, dreaming that the principals of the five major human military academies were kneeling in a row before him, begging him to attend their schools. David Thompson couldn't help but grin silently in his sleep.
Daydreaming in dreams is a pretty happy thing.
Feeling completely refreshed, David Thompson woke up. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw his best friend Mark. When Mark saw David Thompson awake, he immediately rushed over.
"Damn, you finally woke up! I thought you'd turned into a vegetable!"
"Shut up, you jinx! I'm as strong as ever, just took a nap!"
"A nap? Do you know you've been asleep for three days and three nights? What, you think you're a grizzly hibernating?"
Speechless, David Thompson instinctively touched his face. It was just a nap, was it really that dramatic? Suddenly, he remembered a serious question. "You didn't tell my parents, did you?"
"Of course not. I knew what you meant when you called, I wouldn't dare say anything. But if you hadn't woken up, I really would've told them. I told your mom you were at my place for special training."
"Haha, you're the best!"
This kind of thing happened often. Mark's family was pretty well-off, and more importantly, they had a gravity device at home. David Thompson often stayed over to train his physical reflexes, so his family was used to it. Of course, Mark had no interest in physical training at all. At first, he just thought anti-gravity and weightlessness were fun, but after a while, he lost interest, and it became David Thompson's exclusive. Of course, David Thompson wasn't practicing weightlessness, but super-heavy gravity.
"Excuse me, please step aside, we need to examine the patient."
Mark immediately moved aside and tossed David Thompson to the side, his eyes sparkling as he looked at the young nurse. Thirty-five, what a stunner, not bad, not bad. "Nurse, my buddy here has a little quirk—he loves getting shots. If you get the chance, don't hold back, give him a good one."
Chapter Four: Gravity Anomaly
David Thompson closed his eyes, almost fainting from anger at this guy. He couldn't move his feet when he saw a woman, no matter if she was older or younger, he was interested in all of them. No wonder he aspired to be a gossip reporter—putting his talents to use.
Unfortunately, the young nurse wasn't having it. "Please wait outside, the doctor will be here soon. David Thompson, are you feeling any discomfort?"
"Thank you, I feel great."
David Thompson smiled. That was the truth—after a long sleep, not only did he not feel dizzy, he was actually full of energy, just really hungry.
"Nurse, you're an angel in white. Please give him a thorough checkup, don't miss anything. He's still a virgin, he's got a long future ahead of him."
Three black lines appeared on David Thompson's face. This guy would say anything just to make conversation. But the very professional young nurse unceremoniously pushed the chatty Mark out, and then the doctors gave David Thompson a thorough examination. The results came out quickly.
Excellent—better than normal. Only his digestive system was a bit overactive, but that was just from hunger, so David Thompson could be discharged.
As for David Thompson's discharge, Mark was a bit disappointed. If he could've stayed longer, there would've been more chances to interact with the pretty nurses. David Thompson was so annoyed he wanted to stomp him, but since Mark was treating him to a meal, he let it go.
