Chapter 14

As graduation approached, the teachers were constantly talking about the future, and of course, they never forgot to set examples for everyone. Among those examples, the young lady Grace Harris was naturally included. However, it wasn’t her family background they talked about, but her personal abilities. Thanks to her outstanding contributions to the Mobile Suit System and her excellent grades, the school had already decided to recommend her for direct admission to the Aran A-level Military Academy, one of humanity’s top five military academies. The Aran Military Academy had also expressed its welcome, and the admission letter had already been sent in advance.

People have different fates—this kind of thing was just a drizzle to Grace Harris, but for ordinary students, it was as hard as reaching the sky. David Thompson was one of them. Getting into the Aran A-level Military Academy was his dream. Not only would it bring him closer to his ideal, but he could also attend the same academy as Grace Harris. However, judging by his grades, even if the academy valued talent, they would probably eliminate someone like him right away.

The teacher was passionately lecturing at the front, but David Thompson and Mark had long since tuned out. David Thompson habitually lost himself in imagining piloting a mobile suit. He called this kind of classroom training “meditation,” claiming it was his own invention. Rumor had it that if you imagined things seriously, you could achieve thirty percent of the effect of actual training. Whether that was true, only David Thompson himself knew. Maybe it was just an excuse for daydreaming in class. By comparison, Mark was much more blatant, simply fantasizing about beautiful girls.

But Mark’s grades were much better than David Thompson’s.

As soon as the bell rang, the students dashed out at laser speed, making the teacher shake his head. David Thompson and Mark were leading the charge.

Meanwhile, on the rooftop, Grace Harris slowly put down her binoculars. Ever since she saw David Thompson today, she had felt restless, unable to focus on her studies. But after observing him all day, he seemed no different from any other student. Yet her intuition told her the opposite.

Once she had a question, she had to resolve it—this was a habit Grace Harris had developed since childhood. She knew that if she didn’t get to the bottom of it, she’d be preoccupied all day.

Chapter 10: Xiao Jin’s Stunning Appearance

“Madman, don’t be crazy today. Come sing with me. I’ve invited a few lovely girls and I’ll introduce you. If you keep this up, you’ll never escape your virgin life even after graduating high school!”

Mark put on a savior’s expression, making David Thompson shake his head helplessly. He always used this to tease him. Was being a virgin really such a disaster?

“No, I can’t skip my training.”

Once a habit was formed, David Thompson would feel uncomfortable all over if he missed even a day of training.

But this time, Mark spoke seriously to David Thompson, “We’re bros, and this is the last time I’ll try to persuade you. That girl really isn’t right for you. Love is a double-edged sword, and the deeper you fall, the harder it is to get out. You have to be careful.”

David Thompson gave him a hearty pat on the shoulder. He knew Mark meant well, but he really wasn’t as obsessed as Mark thought. He didn’t deny Grace Harris’s appeal, but he had his own life goals.

Watching David Thompson walk away, Mark shook his head helplessly… Ouch, man, how hard did he hit? His shoulder was swollen! Poor Mark could only seek a little comfort in the arms of a beautiful girl.

Not long after leaving school, a shiny Mercedes KLR5 pulled up beside David Thompson. The window slowly rolled down, revealing Grace Harris’s angelic smile. “Are you David Thompson?”

Even with all the composure David Thompson had trained, he couldn’t help but feel a little nervous in this situation. Of course, this reaction didn’t escape Grace Harris’s eyes, and she felt a slight twinge of disappointment.

“Yes, you’re Grace Harris, right? Is there something you need?” The nervousness didn’t last long. Rather than nervousness, it was more like excitement.

“Hehe, come in and let’s talk.”

The driver quickly got out and opened the door. David Thompson had nothing to worry about and got in without hesitation. A soundproof barrier rose, and the spacious back seat was left with just the two of them. This was the first time David Thompson had ever been so close to a girl. A faint fragrance filled his senses.

The two of them stared at each other without blinking. In fact, the moment David Thompson got in, Grace Harris actually felt a tremor in her soul. He gave her a lot of pressure, though she didn’t show it. No matter how she looked at him, he seemed like an ordinary person—so why did she feel this way?

Grace Harris wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination.

In the end, it was Grace Harris herself who couldn’t hold back, trying her best to show an elegant smile. “David Thompson, next Sunday is my birthday. I want to have a small party. I wonder if you’d like to come?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Grace Harris felt she was being a bit… too humble. Did she really need to be like this?

The sudden invitation surprised David Thompson, but he wasn’t as overjoyed as he’d imagined. “It’s truly an honor to be invited. I’ll definitely be there on time.”

Even after getting out of the car, David Thompson still felt like he was dreaming. Only when he looked at the golden invitation in his hand did he realize it was real. The diamond on it was real too… GAD’s style was truly extraordinary.

Once his mind started working again, David Thompson suddenly realized there were a ton of problems… How did Grace Harris know him? Why did she invite him? At such a top-tier party, what was he supposed to do? What should he wear?

A flood of questions overwhelmed him. Sometimes, good luck could be a kind of trouble too. David Thompson decided to go exercise to clear his mind for a while.
