Chapter 15

Opening the door, Mark was not there. That pervert definitely wouldn’t be back before midnight. David Thompson, shirtless, walked straight in after setting the gravity device to four times normal and closing the door. Only under four times the pressure could he actually feel something, but today he was so unusually excited that he couldn’t calm down without a serious workout!

Just as David Thompson was about to pick up the dumbbells, a flash of lightning streaked through his mind and he suddenly fainted, a hazy glow appearing on the surface of his body.

Self-check: recovery is slow, initiating perception system...

Host detection: low level, condition good, planning possible.

Connecting... host’s desire: to become a powerful mobile warrior, receiving... configuring... entering simulated combat state... countdown three seconds, three... two... one, start!

At this moment, David Thompson was not unconscious. Instead, he found himself in a vast space. He pinched himself hard, but didn’t feel any pain... What the—was he seeing ghosts?

Well, after all, he’d even crashed into a meteor, so running into a ghost wasn’t such a big deal.

Sensing the blend of reality and illusion, David Thompson figured he was probably in some kind of all-weather virtual space, maybe even something like a space battle game.

“Is anyone there? If you are, make a sound.”

...

Squeak...

The sudden sound beside him startled David Thompson. He turned around and saw a round metallic ball with a pair of wings... or rather, a robotic toy.

“Uh, was that you who squeaked just now?” This robot really was obedient.

“Great master, hello, I am the Maya KFBT Toy, eighth generation, serial number 9638. You can call me Little James.”

The robot said this with complete seriousness.

David Thompson’s mind was racing. Was he dreaming, or was this all an illusion? He slowly reached out toward Little James, only to find he was grasping at thin air.

“Where is this? How did I get here? What is Maya? What is KFBT? And what are you?” In his shock, David Thompson blurted out a string of questions, but his intuition told him this was probably related to the meteor and the strange things happening to his body lately.

“Master, Maya is a civilization originating from Earth. It is the most powerful force in the cosmic planes. I am a product of Maya civilization. KFBT is my model, meaning Fully Intelligent Combat Control Training Educational Toy. Little James is your toy.”

Although his grades were poor, David Thompson never doubted his own intelligence. Earth, sure, but there was no Maya civilization on Earth. Maybe there was one a long, long time ago, but it definitely couldn’t have made something like this... And what kind of toy would be called a Fully Intelligent Combat Control Training Educational Toy... What the heck is that!

Still, David Thompson managed to understand a bit: this thing really did come from another civilization. Earth was probably just a temporary translation in its language system. Anyway, that wasn’t the point. The point was, why had it brought him here!

“Ahem, Little James, am I in your space right now? Can you let me go back?”

God, he really didn’t want to be abducted by aliens. If he had to die, at least let it be under a peony flower, so he could die a romantic’s death.

“Sorry, master, the system has detected your request and has already activated the training system. Before completing the training, you must remain in this space. The time ratio between here and reality is ten to one.”

Little James still replied in a stiff tone.

David Thompson was about to faint. What the heck, when did he ever make such a request? And as the master, didn’t he have the right to change things?

“Little James, since I’m the master, can I change it and do the training later?”

Crackle...

“Sorry, master. Due to severe system damage during the traversal of parallel space, your request cannot be executed. Please choose to wait or proceed with training.”

Chapter 11: The Devil’s Training That Can’t Be Stopped

Hearing there was another option, David Thompson was overjoyed. “Wait? How do I wait?”

“This universe is extremely rich in elements, but the energy forms are too primitive, and with severe damage, calculations show it will take between ten and one hundred Earth years, with a thirty percent margin of error.”

Little James still answered meticulously, but David Thompson was about to lose it. God, are you messing with me?

After repeating the question a few times and getting the exact same answer from Little James, David Thompson had no choice but to accept it. He had no other options—he could only get through the training as quickly as possible. He hadn’t even started military training, and now he was being trained by aliens.

But soon, David Thompson shook off his gloom and threw himself into the training with burning enthusiasm, because this was the optimal combat method designed by Little James for David Thompson’s physical condition as an Earthling, and it also incorporated some Maya civilization technology. Its advancement was beyond doubt.

The training was fully holographic and divided into two parts. One part was physical tempering—no good mobile warrior could lack a strong body. The other part was BS001 mobile training. Little James sensed David Thompson’s admiration for the BS001 training effect, so it continued to use this model and even increased the difficulty. Hell training had begun.
