Chapter 13

Ethan wrote down the contact number, planning to master the theory in the next few days and then sign up for driving lessons. The driving school had a unified arrangement for theory classes, but learning the theory first and then directly registering for driving lessons would be faster.

Ding dong~

There was a new campus update in the CampusMeat app, which piqued his curiosity.

Just ten to twenty minutes ago, the delinquent youths wandering the alleys near the university town had been knocked to the ground by an unknown expert, wiped out in seconds.

Most of these so-called delinquents were actually students from the school, with a small portion being young people who had dropped out. Most of them were just rebellious youths with exaggerated hairstyles, piercings all over, sneaking into alleys to smoke a cigarette away from teachers.

Some of them also had a hobby of forcibly “borrowing” some money from underclassmen or timid seniors. For these delinquents, ganging up to beat someone was a pastime, and getting beaten up was also commonplace. Since they didn’t have any real gangs, they couldn’t even be considered proper hooligans.

Delinquents getting beaten up wasn’t news, but nearly a hundred of them getting thrashed in just a few minutes was definitely unusual.

In the photos taken by students at the scene with their phones, you could see the miserable state of the delinquents. Every face was swollen and bruised in an exaggerated way, looking like they were about to perform in a Peking opera, with blue, purple, and red all over. It perfectly fit the saying—beaten so badly even their mothers wouldn’t recognize them!

The campus forum was abuzz with discussion.

Some gloated: “Who did this? They really didn’t hold back. Was it the Sanda club or the Taekwondo club? Or maybe the boxing club training new members, teaming up to take on the delinquents?”

The informant type: “They were all knocked out and are being sent to the hospital. No one’s woken up yet, so nobody knows who did it.”

The reasoning type: “According to shopkeepers near the alleys, there wasn’t any big group brawl between delinquents. And even if there was, it’s impossible that not a single one was left standing. Mutual destruction wouldn’t be so coincidental. So it’s very likely that some expert stepped in—one or a few people took down all the delinquents.”

“An expert? Like one person taking on eighty? Haha.” Someone laughed. After all, there were at least eighty, if not a hundred, delinquents beaten up. For so many to be knocked down in just a few minutes, only a hero from TV dramas could pull that off.

“Maybe it was an elite special forces king from the military? I heard those guys can take down an ordinary person like it’s nothing, and can handle a dozen in minutes.”

“Are you kidding? Even if special forces kings are that awesome, they have their own missions. Sending them to deal with delinquents is like using a cannon to kill a mosquito!”

“Let’s stop guessing. Once the delinquents wake up, we’ll know who did it.” Someone replied.

Ethan Brooks refreshed the webpage, glanced through the replies, and closed the message window.

After all, the delinquents’ business had nothing to do with him.

Although Ethan Brooks was only 1.75 meters tall, he was quite strong. He didn’t look like someone you could “borrow” money from, and he basically lived in a different world from the delinquents... If nothing unexpected happened, he would never have anything to do with them in his life.

Stretching lazily, he closed the campus webpage and leaned back in his chair, letting his mind go blank.

The strange thundercloud from the morning kept echoing in his mind. Even though he tried to clear his thoughts, flashes of lightning would occasionally streak through, leaving his heart unsettled for a long time.

……

The next day.

June 2nd, Sunday, sunny.

Ethan Brooks got up early. He had originally planned to stay up all night yesterday, but the series of events that happened made him feel odd. For some reason, he lost the urge to pull an all-nighter and went to bed early after washing up.

By this evening, his dorm mates would be back.

After getting up and washing, Ethan habitually clicked on the chat software at the bottom right of his screen. His cousin Emily Parker still hadn’t replied, so it looked like he’d have to wait another two days.

“If she still hasn’t replied in two days, I’ll give her a call,” Ethan Brooks thought to himself.

Then he opened the Jiuzhou No.1 Group again—every time he looked, it put him in a good mood.

But if you looked too much, it was easy to get assimilated.

The first message in the group was from Adam Foster: “Sorry to make everyone worry. Little Ashley’s tribulation had a small accident, but I’ve already handled it. After the accident, Little Ashley threw a bit of a tantrum, but I found her and took her back, so nothing major happened. It’s just that near H City, there were a few... well, dozens of ordinary people who didn’t know any better and got knocked out by Little Ashley, but no one died. Next, I’ll be taking Little Ashley back to the Su Clan for a while, so I probably won’t be online for the next few days. Anyway... please don’t worry.”

This message was sent at 3 a.m. today.

Chapter 8 Olivia Bennett and Lawson District

“It’s fine as long as everything’s okay, I’m relieved. I’ll contact Olivia Bennett and let her know she doesn’t need to worry, so she won’t rush to H City,” Logan Carter replied soon after.

Ethan Brooks felt that Logan Carter seemed to be online almost twenty-four hours a day. He wondered how the other person had so much energy. Could it be that his sleep schedule just happened to match Mr. Brooks’s? That’s why every time he logged in, he would run into Logan Carter.
