Chapter 19

He was just coming out of Glory Beef Shop, carrying a big bag of specialties from Foodie Paradise, ready to bring them back to his roommates. As soon as he stepped out the door, he saw that long-haired girl with straight black hair striding quickly toward him, dragging a huge suitcase.

This time, Ethan Brooks witnessed firsthand the power of “long legs, walks so fast.” Clearly, she was still quite far away when he first saw her, but in the blink of an eye, the black-haired girl had crossed the distance in just a few steps and was right in front of him.

Ethan shifted slightly to the side, making way for her so she could drag her enormous suitcase through.

“Thank you.” The black-haired beauty’s voice was soft and shy.

She then stepped into the small shop behind him.

Ethan Brooks nodded slightly, checked the time and, feeling it was about right, prepared to head back to the dorm.

After he had taken just two or three steps, the black-haired beauty behind him had already finished her purchase efficiently and was asking the shopkeeper some questions. Ethan Brooks had no intention of eavesdropping on others’ private conversations; he just happened to overhear her question.

And the question she asked made Ethan freeze mid-step…

“Boss, do you know if there’s a temple called ‘Guilight Temple’ near the Luoxin district?”

The shopkeeper thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, “Guilight Temple? Never heard of it. But I only moved here two years ago, so I’m not familiar with many places nearby. Miss, you might want to ask some of the old shop owners—they’ve been in the Luoxin district much longer and know a lot more.”

The shopkeeper was clearly a warm-hearted person, explaining enthusiastically; or maybe, in this age of face value, the black-haired girl naturally carried an aura that boosted people’s goodwill by +100.

Guilight Temple, Luoxin district?

Ethan naturally thought of that girl in the group called Olivia Bennett of Bennett Island.

Did I mishear?

Thinking this, Ethan Brooks pulled out his huge phone from his pocket, swiped his finger to unlock it, and skillfully opened his chat app, entering the Jiuzhou No.1 Group.

Sure enough, after he left, there were several new chat messages in the group.

First was a message from over two hours ago, left by Olivia Bennett of Bennett Island.

She said she hadn’t been able to find any information about Guilight Temple, but she was already taking a taxi directly to the Luoxin district. Then, she planned to ask the local residents directly.

Next was a message from twenty minutes ago.

Olivia Bennett of Bennett Island wrote: “I’ve arrived safely at the Luoxin district. There are so many people here, it’s really lively, totally different from what I imagined. It’s actually a food street—I saw so many delicious things along the way.”

It was clear she was in a good mood—first, because she had “successfully” found the Luoxin district, and second, because there was so much good food here.

“From Jiangnan Airport, it’s about a two-hour drive; and then there’s the Luoxin district with lots of delicious food.” Ethan Brooks rubbed his face.

Leaving from Jiangnan Airport, even if you sped all the way, there’s no way you could reach J City’s Luoxin district in just two hours, right?

Judging by the taxi ride time and Olivia Bennett’s description of the destination, there was a high chance she’d gone to the wrong place—she hadn’t actually arrived at J City’s Luoxin district, but had ended up at Foodie Paradise near Jiangnan University Town.

And if it really wasn’t a coincidence, then the long-legged black-haired beauty behind him might just be Olivia Bennett?

The thought that such a modern, stylish beauty might actually be a xianxia-obsessed chuunibyou gave Ethan Brooks a strange, indescribable feeling.

But… just this wasn’t enough to confirm that the black-haired beauty inside was Olivia Bennett.

After all, it was possible that there was some special event at Guilight Temple in J City’s Luoxin district, and many people were heading there. Naturally, there would be plenty of people like Olivia Bennett in the group who ended up at the wrong place.

It was unlikely, but not impossible.

Ethan Brooks continued scrolling on his phone, but there were no new messages in the group chat. Even Logan Carter wasn’t online—maybe he was out asking about Guilight Temple?

Ethan was still scrolling when, just then, Olivia Bennett of Bennett Island happened to send a voice message in the chat group.

Ethan Brooks instinctively tapped to play it.

……

……

Olivia Bennett dragged her suitcase wearily out of the shop, a bit disappointed.

This was already the twelfth shop. The shopkeeper’s suggestion had been good, but whether old or new, she’d asked at many shops, and not a single person knew anything about Guilight Temple.

Sighing, she took out her phone, her thumb moving deftly as she opened her chat app and tapped into the Jiuzhou No.1 Group chat window.

The Senior Logan she was hoping for still hadn’t replied.

Since it was inconvenient to type with one hand, she tapped the voice function and said softly, “Senior Logan, do you have any news about Guilight Temple? I’ve asked many shop owners in the Luoxin district, but none of them know anything about it. Please reply if you get this.”

She released her thumb, and the voice message was sent successfully.

She put away her phone. Since she hadn’t received a message from Logan Carter yet, she would continue asking the shop owners in the Luoxin district about Guilight Temple—she couldn’t give up!

By the roadside at the shop entrance, Olivia Bennett saw the young man who had made way for her earlier still standing there, holding his phone and scrolling, who knows what he was doing.

Olivia Bennett didn’t pay much attention and continued on her way.

Just then… a voice came from the young man’s phone that sounded extremely familiar to Olivia Bennett.
