Chapter 11

“This loser not only managed to awaken, but actually awakened the fire element, which has a huge early advantage. Even losers can get lucky… And what’s even more fucking infuriating is that a rare lightning element appeared in the class next door, completely overshadowing my family’s inherited ice element. Fuck!” On the surface, Brian Murray looked like a white knight, but inside his mind he was cursing up a storm.

Frank Morgan returned to his seat, and at the same time felt the completely different gazes from the classmates around him…

“Fire element, huh? Better not mess with this guy in the future.”

“What do you mean, don’t mess with him? We should build a good relationship. If I want to get by in school as a light element, I’ll need a fire element big brother to back me up.”

“By the way, what’s his name? Is it Frank Morgan?”

The classmates around whispered among themselves, but their words still reached Frank Morgan’s ears. Frank Morgan felt a wave of satisfaction, and deliberately glanced at Brian Murray, who had also heard these words. Sure enough, Brian Murray’s mouth kept twitching.

Frank Morgan had long known what kind of person Brian Murray was—always pretending to be pure and innocent. Just looking at that fake nonchalant expression on his face, you could tell he was feeling terrible inside.

Green tea boy, I awaken a fire element and you get this pissed off? Just wait until you find out your grandpa Frank Morgan also has the lightning element… Won’t you just commit seppuku on the spot??

Chapter 8: Can’t Stop at All

Summer turned to autumn, fallen leaves swirling in the wind, drifting onto the school’s sports field.

Beside the field, under a dense patch of shade, the afternoon sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, turning into beams like a special autumn stage.

For Frank Morgan, time passed very quickly. It had already been two months since his awakening.

In these two months, Frank Morgan had done only one thing: sitting under this tree—meditating!

On the very first class of the first day, the homeroom teacher Steven Shaw gave all the magic students an important lesson: casting magic!

Casting magic only had three very, very simple steps.

First, meditation.

Second, control.

Third, release!

Meditation, as the name suggests, means focusing your entire mind.

When people close their eyes, their minds actually keep conjuring up all sorts of images.

But if you think of nothing at all, and aren’t disturbed, your mind becomes a complete blank!

After a mage awakens, star dust of their respective element will appear in this blank world.

In other words, now as long as Frank Morgan closes his eyes and completely empties his mind to a void as dark as the universe, the lightning element stardust and fire element stardust will appear in this empty mind.

The lightning stardust is purple, looking like a patch of purple cosmic dust floating there—beautiful, enchanting, and dazzling.

Within the lightning stardust are seven stars, moving randomly within the small patch of stardust, like seven mischievous, disobedient children, energetically running around inside.

For any magic student who has awakened, as long as they can make the stardust appear in the void and see the lively, glowing stars inside, it counts as completing meditation.

You could say, this first step is really very simple, and for these two months, the only homework assigned to all the magic students was this.

Meditation—start meditating after dinner, keep meditating until you’re exhausted, then go to sleep.

The next day, after finishing classes, meditate again, meditate until you’re exhausted, then go to sleep again…

Frank Morgan didn’t slack off. He did this for a full two months, including weekends, and many times he really didn’t understand why the teachers would assign such a simple task for two whole months.

“Maybe I should try control on my own first?” Frank Morgan felt he could already enter meditation very skillfully, so he wanted to start the next step.

The second step of casting magic was also very, very simple.

After entering meditation, you would see the stardust, and inside the stardust were seven lively, energetic, randomly running stars.

Control means using your mental will to control these stars, making them quiet down and obediently stop at specific positions, forming a star path.

Once the star path is formed, magical power will be conducted through this path into the mage’s body, turning into real magic and being released!

“They really run fast. Let daddy touch you.” Frank Morgan began trying to communicate with the stars.

Using his will to control a star, Frank Morgan had already locked onto one particularly wild star, trying to make it obediently stop there.

“Whoosh~~~~~~”

That star was extremely aloof, completely ignoring Frank Morgan, like a little girl running away from a creepy uncle, fleeing at lightning speed!

“Damn, so tsundere. Forget it, let’s try another one.” Frank Morgan started trying to communicate with another lightning star.

“Come here, little one, daddy’s here, be good…”

“Whoosh~~~~~”

The second star acted like it had run into an escaped lunatic, darting away at top speed.

Frank Morgan tried the other stars as well, but it was the same—none of them paid any attention to Frank Morgan. Some even seemed to run even faster when they sensed Frank Morgan’s will trying to make them do something!

When the stars are spinning and racing around, magical power can’t be conducted.
