Chapter 18

Thunder arcs crashed down from above, each one striking Benjamin Fox and the muscular fitness guy to the ground like a giant whip of force, leaving snake-like marks scorched into the earth!!!

“Zzzzzzz~~~~~~~~~~~~”

Benjamin Fox and the muscular fitness guy were both slammed face-down onto the ground. Just moments ago, they looked so cocky, but now, after the thunder marks lashed down, their backs were torn open, charred on the outside and raw on the inside...

They wanted to scream in agony, but couldn’t even make a sound. The wild power attached to the thunder marks slithered over their bodies like little pythons, and with every movement, Benjamin Fox and the muscular fitness guy convulsed violently in pain!

“Thud!!” Feeling this terrifying, devilish power, the young man with the cigarette dropped to his knees in fear, his whole body trembling uncontrollably!

The thug in jeans was completely petrified, frozen like a statue.

The guy with the cap, though still standing and untouched by the thunder marks, had his jeans soaked through, dripping all over his shoes!

(Today I went out with my laptop, only to realize—damn it—the draft wasn’t on it. This is even more frustrating than having no internet, so I could only update for everyone after getting home tonight... Well, I guess I never should have pretended I’d be a punctual updater with this new book. Anyway, there’ll be another chapter coming up.)

Chapter 13: First Taste of Magic!

……

On the hilltop pavilion, the mysterious purple energy vanished in a flash of dazzling brilliance.

The air was thick with the smell of burning.

The surrounding plants were blackened.

On the floor lay two people, still convulsing violently, looking so miserable it was hard to watch—nothing like the arrogant bullies they were just moments ago.

The other three were already scared out of their wits.

“B-big... Mo... Brother Frank Morgan... for the sake of us all growing up in the same neighborhood... please... please spare us, just this once... we’ll never, ever dare to cross you again!!” The guy with the cigarette was so terrified his soul had practically left his body. In his eyes, this sixteen-year-old boy was scarier than any nightmare demon!

“You... you’re a noble mage... please, don’t stoop to our level, we’re just scum, I beg you, please don’t hurt us.” The man in jeans stammered, his voice shaking.

Just look at Benjamin Fox and the muscle guy—too horrifying!

The guy in jeans definitely didn’t want to end up like that!

That surge of anger, along with the full release of the thunder mark, finally began to subside in Frank Morgan’s heart.

He glanced at the utterly miserable Benjamin Fox and the muscle guy, then at the three others who were scared stiff.

“Take them to the hospital.” Frank Morgan said, his anger fading.

In fact, even Frank Morgan hadn’t expected the power of the Thunder Element’s basic skill—Thunder Mark—to be so great!

This was probably his first time fully unleashing it. If he’d been a bit more skilled, aimed more precisely, and hadn’t hesitated and scattered his power during the release, this one Thunder Mark might have killed all five of them on the spot!

Luckily, no one died.

Otherwise, things would have gotten really out of hand!

“Y-yes, yes, we’ll leave right away, we’ll leave right away!!” The guy in jeans saw the young mage’s anger had subsided and felt like he’d been given a new lease on life.

The other two didn’t dare think twice, hurriedly helping the two paralyzed guys on the ground...

But as soon as they touched them, the residual electric arcs shot into their arms, making them shudder in fright.

“Call an ambulance. You’re paying for the medical bills yourselves.” Frank Morgan said coldly.

“We’ll call, we’ll call right now.”

Frank Morgan’s anger had faded, but he still felt a surge of uncontrollable excitement inside.

But right now, he had to keep up his killer image—he couldn’t let these idiots see how thrilled he really was.

He walked into the pavilion, swept the cards off the wheelchair cushion, hefted the wheelchair, and headed down the steps.

The three still looked at Frank Morgan with lingering fear.

Suddenly, Frank Morgan turned around.

The three of them jumped back in panic.

“By the way, if anyone asks, just say they got electrocuted stealing power. If word gets out that I’m a mage, I’ll make sure you never open your mouths again. Anyway, I’ve heard the police don’t really go after mages who accidentally kill people—especially when it’s scum who went looking for trouble with a mage.” Frank Morgan remembered something and warned them.

The three nodded like bobbleheads, more obedient than ever.

“As for Samuel Carter and Brian Murray, I trust you’re smart enough to know what to say?” Frank Morgan said coolly as he walked away.

“We... we didn’t see you.”

“Good, smart move. This matter is over. If you ever need anything, you can come to me—you’ve seen what I can do.”

“Yes, yes, yes, Brother Frank Morgan, take care, take care.” The three nodded and bowed, both respectful and terrified.

Frank Morgan nodded, slung the wheelchair over his shoulder, and walked away in style.
