"Frank Morgan, why are you late again? Can't you show a little more seriousness? Your talent is already below that of most of your classmates, your foundation is especially weak, and yet you still don't study diligently. Look at our classmate Terry—he has the lightning element, is naturally gifted, has a solid foundation, and a great attitude toward learning magic. He can already control four lightning element stars, but you? I heard you still can't control even a single fire element star. The fire element awakening is completely wasted on you!" As soon as John Bolton saw Frank Morgan stroll in late, he immediately began to scold him without mercy.
Frank Morgan couldn't help but roll his eyes. Teacher John Bolton was really relentless, bringing up that lightning element guy almost every class.
That so-called classmate Terry was the one who awakened the lightning element at the opening ceremony. John Bolton mentioned him every day, and even when he put on a face of educating others, he couldn't hide his pride.
"That guy can control four stars? I've already got six, just one step away." Frank Morgan thought to himself with disdain, but didn't say it out loud. He just strolled leisurely to his seat.
"Alright, everyone open your Book of Demons. Today, I'll continue to tell you about some of the more common demons. As we all know, demons are found outside the cities where humans live, and are extremely aggressive toward humans. They roam around, fighting each other... So, if a mage ventures into the wild and encounters a one-eyed demon wolf, what should they do?" John Bolton was already enthusiastically launching into the lesson.
One-eyed demon wolf.
This is a type of demon that lives in the wilderness closest to human cities. Frank Morgan had only seen its general appearance in books and videos—it looked extremely ferocious.
Ordinary people can't handle such creatures; only mages can fight them. Of course, for this group of magic students who still can't cast a single skill, encountering a one-eyed demon wolf would be a bloody massacre!
The one-eyed demon wolf was a key topic in the demonology class. John Bolton had already spent a week teaching about this demon, and Frank Morgan was sick of hearing about it.
Now, thanks to his unique double-time cultivation, Frank Morgan had already mastered six lightning element stars. As long as he focused completely, he could arrange those six stars into a star path.
The problem was, the seventh star was especially hard to get—like a chaste maiden, unmoved by gentleness or force, making Frank Morgan extremely anxious!
Just one damn step away!!
"Frank, how's your progress with the fire element cultivation?" Howard Bolton asked hurriedly when he saw Frank Morgan sit down.
"Same as always," Frank Morgan replied casually.
Fire element...
Just as John Bolton had said, Frank Morgan still couldn't control a single fire element star.
There was nothing he could do about it—this semester, he'd put all his energy into the lightning element.
"No way, looks like your foundation really is affecting your cultivation. I heard that guy Brian Murray can already control four ice element stars. If he works a bit harder over winter break, maybe next semester he'll be able to cast the basic ice skill 'Ice Vine'," Howard Bolton said.
"I know."
"Bro, how are you not worried at all? I'm telling you, he and his lackey Samuel Carter are already plotting to give you a hard time."
"It's fine, let them come."
Right now, Frank Morgan's mind was completely occupied with how to control the seventh star; everything else was just background noise.
"Sigh, just be careful... The semester is almost over. Next semester, Frank, you really need to step it up. If you can't pass the magic casting assessment at the end of next semester, the school authorities might find all sorts of reasons to persuade you to drop out."
……
……
The semester ended quickly, and Frank Morgan vaguely felt that the seventh star was about to be moved by his sincerity.
"Damn, cultivating is even harder than serving a goddess—endless greetings and communication day and night..." Frank Morgan grumbled as he walked out of the school.
This whole semester, Frank Morgan had barely left campus. Every day, he practiced control for two hours, then meditated for ten hours, then went to class, ate, and slept—never missing a day.
Anyway, the semester was over. After receiving their winter break assignments, the students all went home.
Walking out of the school gate, Frank Morgan almost instinctively tried to catch a bus home, but when he came to his senses, he was suddenly at a loss.
He almost forgot that his dad had already sold the house—he was basically homeless now.
His dad, Henry Morgan, was probably still out driving. With nowhere to go, Frank Morgan thought for a moment—it was time to visit his aunt and check on Summer.
He hadn't seen Summer for almost half a year and wondered how she was doing at his aunt's place.
"I'll just go pick her up from school."
Frank Morgan got on the bus and headed toward another middle school.
Sitting on the bus, with nothing else to do, Frank Morgan continued practicing control, seeing if the seventh star would finally yield.
