Chapter 7

Indomethacin: a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase 1 and 2. Prostaglandins can cause vaginal contractions in pregnant women. Indomethacin prevents premature labor by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins (PG) in the vagina, and possibly by blocking calcium channels to reduce vaginal contractions.

Although the drugs used by David Harris could only produce similar effects, at a time like this, being able to quickly achieve such results with various Western medicines—only David Harris would dare to use them this way.

After giving the pregnant woman the medication, David Harris gently performed some acupoint massage on her. Very soon, both her emotions and bleeding were quickly brought under control. At this moment, an ambulance rushing from the direction of the airport had already arrived. However, the airport ambulance was only for emergency use; this was a one-way closed road, so ambulances from the city couldn’t get here. The others weren’t so lucky to get on this vehicle.

When they saw the pregnant woman get on the ambulance, someone on the bus started clapping, and in an instant, the whole carriage was filled with applause.

“Doctor, please help me…”

“Doctor, help me, I…”

It was like a breached dam—once there was an opening, everything came pouring out.

There was no other way; David Harris had to help them one by one. The first to rush over was the guy with a tuft of white hair on his head, who even blocked a middle-aged woman whose nose was bleeding.

“I’m first, it hurts like hell, my damn hand is about to break… hurry up…” the white-haired guy shouted.

David Harris couldn’t be bothered with him, but was also annoyed by him. As he approached, David Harris suddenly grabbed his arm with one hand and lifted it upward.

“Ah…” With a miserable scream, the white-haired guy collapsed directly onto a seat, clutching his arm and sweating from the pain.

The people around were startled, but quickly realized that this young doctor was punishing him. Seeing him clutching his arm, but the arm could already move, everyone understood even more. They were all delighted, and immediately started asking David Harris for treatment.

“Doctor… my head… ah…” This was a slightly balding man in his forties, his head bleeding, holding it with his hand, clearly still not fully recovered from the recent shock.

David Harris didn’t bother to explain, just told him to take his hand off his head. After a glance, he saw there was no major problem—just a cut on the forehead. If they were in a hospital, it would probably need three or four stitches, so the injury wasn’t exactly minor. David Harris thought for a moment, opened a bag he carried with him, took out a small bottle, squeezed out some transparent liquid, and used the man’s own cotton clothing to wipe the wound. As the man instinctively jerked his head back in pain, David Harris had already smeared the transparent liquid onto the wound with his finger.

The man immediately felt a cool sensation on his forehead, and the pain was instantly much relieved.

“Amazing, look, the wound isn’t bleeding anymore…”

“What kind of medicine is that…”

The others were already stunned. After David Harris applied the transparent ointment, the wound on the man’s forehead stopped bleeding. The transparent ointment quickly solidified into a film like clear skin, sticking to the wound.

Hearing the exclamations around him and seeing the man’s shock as he touched his own forehead, David Harris thought to himself: if they knew that just a little of this transparent ointment cost several hundred dollars, he wondered how they’d react—maybe they’d rather cash it in and use a few bucks to treat the wound instead.

David Harris had specifically asked Grace Turner to bring along some of the medicines he used to use, as well as some other drugs, thinking these would be enough for normal situations. However, all of David Harris’s medicines were worth a fortune. The small bottle of transparent trauma cooling gel he just used was worth over thirty thousand dollars. It was inspired by the US-Russia interstellar travel “life cryopreservation” project. Once used and exposed to air, the cooling gel would instantly enter an ultra-low temperature state. Although full-body cryopreservation wasn’t possible yet, local cooling control for trauma was no problem.

David Harris didn’t study medicine to make money, nor did he treat people for profit. He only wanted to improve his medical skills, gain more experience, and achieve the results he wanted. That’s why David Harris never considered the cost when treating patients—this was his unique way of practicing medicine. Fortunately, he wouldn’t casually treat just anyone.

Ignoring the shocked looks of the others, David Harris walked straight to the person lying on the ground—a fashionable girl of about eighteen or nineteen, wearing an ultra-short skirt. After a glance, he saw she had no external injuries. A quick check confirmed there were no fractures either. After a more careful examination, David Harris quickly determined it was just pain from the impact. Her exaggerated expression earlier had made it seem like something serious had happened. She probably wasn’t from an ordinary family—too pampered, in David Harris’s opinion.

After relieving the girl’s pain, David Harris moved on to the other injured people. By now, everyone had already stood up and gathered together to watch David Harris treat the wounded. When they saw him coming, they all made way for him, and the look in their eyes had changed considerably.
