Chapter 6

Ryan Bennett definitely didn’t want to give this thing to that greedy, stingy Baldwin Grant. In order to save this treasure-level, top-grade gem, Ryan Bennett unhesitatingly put it into his own bag. Luckily, no one saw; if anyone found out that a third-tier treasure had appeared here, Ryan Bennett would be in big trouble and would probably be hunted endlessly. During a chase, there’s always a chance that items in your bag might drop.

“Let’s go. We’re leaving in half an hour. We still need to go to the inn to buy some bread and spring water, and we’ll also need to spend some time making bandages,” said Grace Miller. Ryan Bennett’s behavior made Grace Miller a bit curious—just what was it that attracted him so much that he wouldn’t even look up? But she would absolutely never waste time on irrelevant people.

“Oh.” Amber Miller replied dejectedly, glanced at Ryan Bennett, and followed behind Grace Miller as they walked out.

Seeing that Ethan Carter was about to leave, Baldwin Grant hurriedly said, “Handsome gentleman, aren’t you going to buy a few gifts for these two beautiful ladies?”

Ethan Carter stopped in his tracks; the suggestion was quite tempting.

“No need, we don’t need anything,” Grace Miller said coolly, her obvious tone of rejection making a trace of gloom flash in Ethan Carter’s eyes. Just because you’re the boss’s little sister, huh? If I ever get my hands on you, I’ll make sure to teach you a lesson.

Ethan Carter glanced at Ryan Bennett by the repair counter and couldn’t help but sneer, “I don’t think the stuff in this shop is worth my money. Just look at the quality of your staff. These clocks are like a pile of scrap metal. I don’t want to be fighting monsters only to find my clock suddenly stops. I think I’ll go to the main city of Bracada, Aydins, instead. At least the stuff there is higher quality.”

Baldwin Grant’s face turned livid. Ryan Bennett had just put the Titan’s Heart into his bag, and hearing Ethan Carter’s words, he was furious. How could someone be so rude! Just looking at Ethan Carter made him feel annoyed.

“Ethan Carter!” Grace Miller said sternly, “You’ve gone too far.”

Seeing Grace Miller’s look of disgust, Ethan Carter’s heart skipped a beat. He didn’t want to leave a bad impression on Grace Miller, but there was no way he’d apologize, so he was left feeling awkward.

Just then, there was a loud bang from the counter where Ryan Bennett was standing, and parts clattered all over the floor. Some pieces even smashed the clocks in the shop, landing everywhere. The clock shop was thrown into chaos, and one part landed right on Baldwin Grant’s barren head, raising a big red bump on his shiny scalp.

Everyone was stunned.

Ryan Bennett was beyond frustrated. He had no idea why the wall clock suddenly exploded. If he hadn’t dodged quickly, he might have sacrificed himself for the revolutionary cause.

The explosion’s thick smoke blackened Ryan Bennett’s face.

Amber Miller saw Ryan Bennett’s face, now as dark as Black Whirlwind Li Kui, and burst out laughing.

Grace Miller couldn’t help but giggle, covering her mouth.

The two girls’ stunning beauty was like a beautiful landscape. Only then did Ryan Bennett notice that there were actually two gorgeous beauties in the shop. To lose face like this in front of them—what a disaster.

Through the glass of the wall clock hanging on the wall, Ryan Bennett vaguely saw the face of an African refugee and almost spat out blood. Is this the suave, dashing me? It’s over, I’m disfigured.

“Ryan Bennett! You’re fired! Oh, my God, my lovely clocks, all ruined by you.” Baldwin Grant roared, the big red bump on his head and his nearly twisted face making him look quite imposing as he shakily picked up the broken pieces of clocks.

Ryan Bennett shrugged. He couldn’t stay in the clock shop any longer and had no desire to serve the stingy Baldwin Grant again. Since his wages hadn’t been withheld, he walked out in a very carefree manner.

As he passed by Grace Miller and Amber Miller, Ryan Bennett seemed to see sympathy and sadness on their faces. Ryan Bennett smiled slightly—what sentimental little girls.

Volume One: The Legendary Debut

Chapter Five: Alchemy Blueprints and Treasure Maps

Ryan Bennett walked to the stream at the edge of the Skeleton Forest and splashed his face with cold water. Thinking back on everything that had just happened, he got excited all over again. He never expected to suddenly get so many good things; it took Ryan Bennett quite a while to process it all, and only with effort did he calm himself down.

Items like the Titan’s Heart only appeared in epics from ten thousand years ago. Occasionally, a bard at the inn would mention the Titan’s Heart, but Ryan Bennett had always thought of it as something illusory and unreal. He never imagined he could actually obtain a Titan’s Heart, and those two blueprints were definitely not simple either. Ryan Bennett still felt a bit dizzy—was he dreaming?
