Chapter 15

The thief gripped his dagger, waiting for the right moment. The dagger in his hand glimmered with a green light, clearly coated with poison.

When players from the two major factions encounter each other in the wild, it’s a fight to the death—either you die or I do. Ryan Bennett didn’t hesitate, unleashing another Shadow Bolt.

Volume One: The Legendary Debut

Chapter 11: Honor Kill

The thief took several heavy hits in a row, not even getting close to Ryan Bennett, and his HP dropped to just 7%.

He hadn’t expected Ryan Bennett’s reaction speed and attack speed to be so fast, and the damage was ridiculously high! Was he a Demon Warlock, an Affliction Warlock, or a Destruction Warlock? The thief cursed—how could such an overpowered player exist? He hurriedly drank a small instant-heal potion, and his HP shot up to 67%.

Wind Step!

He slipped back into stealth.

This thief was really loaded—he just used a small instant-heal potion worth five gold coins like it was nothing.

On the server, healing items are divided into bread, bandages, and potions. Bread and bandages are usually used after combat to slowly restore HP, and if you use them during battle, you’re easily interrupted. Potions, on the other hand, heal instantly and are generally used in combat. Potions are rare, and if used well, can keep you alive or even turn the tide of battle. Their price is usually very high. Who would have thought this thief would casually use one—even if it was just a small potion, it was still worth five gold coins!

The thief vanished again. Ryan Bennett calmly observed the slightest movement around him. Although he hadn’t PKed before, that didn’t mean Ryan Bennett couldn’t PK. With skills from three demon classes, if he couldn’t beat an ordinary player, Ryan Bennett might as well go bang his head against a wall.

Among Ryan Bennett’s spells, only Explosion is an area attack, which can reveal the thief’s position. But the range is only about five yards—if the thief is outside that, Ryan Bennett can’t hit him and can only wait for him to get closer.

The surroundings were eerily quiet. The wind swept across the vast, desolate land, making Ryan Bennett feel a chill. Ryan Bennett was on edge, keenly sensing every movement around him, Explosion spell at the ready.

Ryan Bennett tried to guess when the thief would attack, and predicted where he might appear.

A chill ran down the back of his neck—so fast! He hadn’t expected the thief to get so close so quickly. Ryan Bennett’s pupils contracted sharply.

Explosion!

From sensing the thief’s attack to reacting, the whole process took no more than 0.5 seconds. But Ryan Bennett wasn’t satisfied with that—true experts react even faster.

Explosion detonated within a five-yard radius like a bomb, the shockwave sweeping the area. The thief grunted, his body appearing.

Ryan Bennett thought to himself how lucky he was—if the thief had gotten close and used the Sap skill, Ryan Bennett would have been stunned for five seconds. Because he’d put all his points into Intelligence, Ryan Bennett had low HP and defense. With the thief’s powerful single-target damage, five seconds would have been enough to kill Ryan Bennett. But now, the thief had no more chances. Wind Step had a cooldown, and a long one at that—he’d have to survive until it was ready again to go back into stealth.

Target locked.

Corruption!

Shadow Bolt!

Immolate!

The thief struggled to get closer to Ryan Bennett.

Repulsion Aura!

Arcane!

A total of over four hundred damage—unless you’re a tanky warrior or paladin, few can survive that. Spell after spell flew out, and the thief’s vision went black as he collapsed to the ground.

System: Honor Kill, count 1. Bracada Honor +1. Player Ryan Bennett Honor +1.

Bracada Honor refers to national honor. Every time a Bracada player kills a player from an Evil Alliance country, it’s added to the nation’s honor. The higher a nation’s honor, the higher its ranking in the Angel Alliance, and the more say it has—its players get greater benefits. As for player honor, once it reaches a certain level, the player is awarded a title and receives rewards or special privileges.

Finally, the thief was dead. Ryan Bennett let out a sigh of relief, kicked the thief’s corpse like a dead dog, and picked up some gold coins from the ground. To his surprise, there were thirteen gold coins. Judging by the 100:1 drop rate, the thief must have had at least 1,300 gold coins on him!

Wow, so rich! Ryan Bennett couldn’t help but marvel—a level 7 alt out grinding with 1,300 gold coins on him, that’s a lot of money. Ryan Bennett searched the body and actually found a top-quality level 7 blue leather armor for thieves, which should sell for dozens of gold coins. Ryan Bennett was delighted—since it was delivered right to his door, he wasn’t going to be polite.

“Bro, what’s wrong? Why are you in such a bad mood?” The ice mage Reaper Carter asked. As a level 47 elemental mage, ranked sixth in the entire Evil Alliance, it was baffling that he called a level 7 thief “bro.”

Hunter Carter said gloomily, “Got ganked this morning. Lost my blue leather armor.” The blue leather armor wasn’t a big deal, but he just couldn’t stand the humiliation!
