Chapter 12

The demon warlock’s demon summoning, the destruction warlock’s high damage output, the affliction warlock’s curses, plus the mechanical imps of the mechanical alchemist boosting damage output. When the most powerful skills of the four major classes are combined, how much energy will be unleashed?

Ryan Bennett was completely stunned—this ring truly deserved its status as an epic item, second only to legendary artifacts!

Ryan Bennett had finally shaken off the mechanical alchemist class and could now level up like a true demon warlock. Ryan Bennett never wanted to waste his life in that mine that only produced low-grade ores ever again!

Without hesitation, Ryan Bennett selected an option.

Yes!

System: You have bound the Hilaire Demon Ring.

Once bound, this ring can never be traded. It also won’t drop upon death. An epic ring worth sixty thousand gold coins—this was probably the most expensive piece of equipment Ryan Bennett owned, but Ryan Bennett had no regrets.

“Do you have anything else that needs appraisal?” asked Old Cooper.

Ryan Bennett took out the Titan’s Heart from his backpack. The pale blue glow instantly lit up the entire room. “Please take a look at this item for me.”

When Old Cooper saw the gem in Ryan Bennett’s hand, his eyes lit up. “Aquamarine Titan’s Heart, a fine item. You want this appraised?”

“Yes.”

“Six thousand two hundred and fifty-one gold coins,” said Old Cooper.

Hearing Old Cooper’s words, Ryan Bennett almost spat out blood. Six thousand two hundred and fifty-one gold coins? Good heavens, what on earth was this thing? Ryan Bennett gave an awkward smile. “Sorry, I don’t have that much money. Let’s forget it.”

“What a pity.” Old Cooper sighed, though it was unclear whether he regretted not being able to appraise a super treasure or was lamenting the loss of six thousand two hundred and fifty-one gold coins.

Walking out of the appraisal hall, Ryan Bennett couldn’t help but look up and let out a long howl, venting his previous frustration. Watching the players in blue and green gear bustling through Edinsley, he suddenly felt that life was so beautiful—he finally had the right to pursue these things!

Ryan Bennett headed toward the auction house. The first thing to do after putting on the Demon Ring was to buy a few skill books at the auction house.

Inside, the auction house was packed with people, all staring at the magical display screens, bidding fiercely.

Beginner skill books were produced in large quantities, so their prices were low and affordable.

Ryan Bennett browsed through the skill books, picking out some that were useful for the three demon warlock classes.

Volume One: The Legendary Debut

Chapter Nine: The Debut of the Three-Path Warlock

Alchemists, aside from one arcane skill, had no other attack skills to buy. They spent most of their time enhancing their mechanical golems, which made their bodies so frail that, without the help of their golems, they were practically useless.

Finally, he found some useful skills, including the demon warlock’s Repulsion Aura and Demon Siphon, the destruction warlock’s Blast and Searing Pain, the affliction warlock’s Corruption, as well as some shared skills for the three demon classes like Shadow Bolt. Altogether, these skills cost about thirty gold coins.

A level one warlock could learn up to five skills, but Ryan Bennett learned ten, which made his blood boil with excitement. Ryan Bennett felt as if he had already set foot in the hall of warlock gods. Maybe, someday, his name would be inscribed on the warlock temple’s honor roll.

Gritting his teeth, Ryan Bennett spent another fifty gold coins at the auction house to buy some beginner green gear. Although the stats weren’t great, they were much better than his newbie gear—almost like little treasures. He’d be able to wear them after leveling up a few times.

He bought some bread and spring water from the inn, stored valuables like the Titan’s Heart and the chunk of purple gold in the NPC warehouse, and then eagerly set off for the Skeleton Forest. The Skeleton Forest had always been the ideal leveling spot for beginner players.

He had to catch up on the levels he’d fallen behind.

From deep within the forest came occasional cackling laughter, echoing eerily through the Skeleton Forest and adding to its sinister, terrifying atmosphere.

A skeleton soldier in tattered leather armor wandered aimlessly in the distance—a level 1 monster. Ryan Bennett felt both excited and nervous; this was his first time killing monsters to level up. In the past, whenever he saw a skeleton soldier, all he could do was run away.

He crept closer, stopping about 20 yards from the skeleton soldier—just within spellcasting range.

Corruption!

He first cast a curse, lowering the skeleton soldier’s stats and making its body weaker, no longer as robust as before.

Shadow Bolt!

A black shadow bolt traced a perfect arc through the air, shooting toward the skeleton soldier as Ryan Bennett quickly retreated.

Searing Pain!

These attack spells were devastating against low-level monsters. By the time the skeleton soldier noticed Ryan Bennett, it only had 37% of its health left. Waving its broken longsword, it charged at Ryan Bennett.

Demon Siphon!

Ryan Bennett drained the skeleton soldier’s life force. Demon Siphon could draw 10 health points per second from the enemy and convert them into his own health. At this stage, he could just stand still. The beginner version of Demon Siphon was pretty weak, but at higher skill levels, its power was truly impressive.

When the skeleton soldier finally reached him—

Blast!
