Brian Carter's comprehensive rating for Summoner Priest actually reached an all-star level of 93 points, even among professional players!
“I get it, I finally get it!” Dylan suddenly flipped his hair, revealing an expression of sudden enlightenment, and sighed to the sky, “Boss, there’s a reason you’re always so wild. A man like you, wild and unrestrained yet a bit sleazy, is destined to solicit prostitutes!”
“Agreed with the one above, boss, looks like you have no choice but to solicit prostitutes!” The Carter Chief immediately chimed in.
“The facts are right in front of us, you can’t avoid soliciting prostitutes even if you want to.” Sammy also concluded.
Summoner Priest, abbreviated as Summon Priest.
Because of the homophonic pun, players usually type it in the game as: solicit prostitutes.
Ever since the priest class could change jobs, “soliciting prostitutes” became synonymous with Summoner Priest.
Since the open beta, Summoner Priest has been widely recognized as the sleaziest class in “Fantasy”.
This class doesn’t have as high damage as Rogues or Mages, nor as much defense as Knights or Warriors, and it can’t heal as powerfully as Priests or Shaman Priests, nor shoot everything like Hunters… Yet this oddball class gives countless opponents headaches, and many players feel like crying but can’t when they encounter a Summoner Priest in the arena.
Seeing that sky-high score of 93, even Brian Carter couldn’t believe it.
He had never played any priest class before, so he should have been unfamiliar with it. This score just didn’t make sense.
With some doubt, he chose Summoner Priest again and tried the trial once more.
The result: still 93 points.
Brian Carter rubbed his eyes, refusing to believe it, and sat in front of Sammy’s computer to test it using Sammy’s account.
This time, it was still 93 points.
Brian Carter was determined to challenge the rating system, and was about to test it on The Carter Chief’s computer when Sammy grabbed him: “Boss, are you done yet? Three times is enough—if you keep showing off, you’re just being tsundere!”
The Carter Chief: “Exactly, you don’t need to leave your awesome mark on every one of our computers, do you?”
Dylan: “Dear, stop testing, just go solicit prostitutes already.”
Brian Carter fell silent, his heart in turmoil.
Could it be that he’s destined to be a man who chooses to solicit prostitutes?
Chapter 005: Nirvana Rebirth
In the first week of Fantasy’s open beta, the Telecom 1 and Netcom 1 regions each launched four servers. The 301 dorm’s four bros settled in the very first Telecom server: King’s Sword.
As the open beta filled up, in the second week, both regions successively opened four more servers.
This was already quite an achievement.
In the year 2030, although the fully immersive games people imagined hadn’t appeared yet and mouse and keyboard were still mainstream, game servers had changed. Twenty years ago, a game server could usually hold a few thousand people. Twenty years later, with rapidly advancing technology, a single game server could support 500,000 players online at the same time.
After two weeks of open beta, Fantasy’s two regions had a total of 16 servers, setting a record of over seven million concurrent players. Every weekend, the servers were packed, and players had to queue for half a day just to log in.
So, on May 16th, the game company added two more server groups.
The long-awaited Telecom 2 and Netcom 2 regions finally arrived. At 2 p.m. today, both regions would open a new server group, and Telecom 2 would welcome its first server: Nirvana Rebirth!
The main reason Brian Carter chose to go to the new region was because he liked the name of this server.
He felt that after being a clueless fool for seven years, he couldn’t go on being a clueless fool for another seven years.
It was time for a nirvana rebirth.
……
“Damn, Logan says he’s not coming.” Dylan wandered over to room 302 next door again, and came back fuming: “That guy always bails at the crucial moment, can’t bear to part with his gear, and refuses to go to the new server.”
“He’s probably not reluctant about the gear, but about that green tea girl, right?” Sammy started roasting again.
“It’s normal for Logan to be attached—he finally found a wife in the game. We should be understanding.” Brian Carter put on the look of someone who’s been through it all, as if he really understood Logan’s feelings.
“Speaking of which, that guy’s luck is insane—he can pick up a green tea girl just by standing around.” The Carter Chief was both jealous and hopeful: “I’ve had terrible luck in Telecom 1. I wonder if I’ll get lucky in Telecom 2 and hook up with a green tea girl or something?”
“White gear will come, and green tea girls will come too.” Sammy also started dreaming about the future.
“Give me a set of white gear and I’ll take over Telecom 2.” Dylan was also looking forward to life.
Why is everyone looking forward to white gear? It has to do with Fantasy’s game design.
Fantasy has two main features. The first is that leveling up is hard.
For the past twenty years, domestic games have all shared a frustrating trait: leveling up is way too easy. Some games are so ridiculous you can gain dozens or even hundreds of levels in a day. And some so-called free green online games are shameless cash grabs—if you spend money on shop items, you can rocket up in levels.
