Chapter 11

Andrew Bennett ran his internal energy through his body once more, but found that it no longer had much effect. It seemed that the Demonic Heaven Technique only needed to be practiced once a day. With a sense of regret, Andrew Bennett walked deeper into the forest.

System: You have discovered the Remnants of the Immortal Severing Site.

Andrew Bennett felt a bit puzzled and continued forward. A massive ruin appeared before Andrew Bennett's eyes. Stretching for hundreds of miles, dozens-of-meters-tall stone pillars stood abruptly amidst the ruins, as if proclaiming their former grandeur. Marble-paved roads led into the heart of the ruins. The surrounding shops still faintly retained their original appearance, though most were now broken and dilapidated.

Andrew Bennett kept walking inside, curiously observing, not knowing what might be hidden within these ruins.

Caw caw! A strange sound rang out. Andrew Bennett looked in the direction of the noise and saw a white skeleton emerge from an alley by the street. It was a level-seven monster, not much higher than himself—still manageable, which put Andrew Bennett at ease. But what happened next made Andrew Bennett's heart leap again. As soon as that white skeleton saw him, countless skeletons surged out from the sides of the street, surrounding him and blocking the way back.

Fortunately, the skeletons moved slowly, so Andrew Bennett could only dash further inside. The skeletons swarmed toward him like a tide. There were at least several hundred densely packed skulls, and their numbers kept increasing.

You have entered the Remnants of the Immortal Severing Site. Do you accept the quest: The Immortal Severing Seal? Completing the quest will grant you the Immortal Severing inheritance; failure will result in the loss of five levels.

Andrew Bennett couldn't decide for a moment and gave a wry smile. This penalty was a bit too terrifying—if he failed, it would mean returning to level zero, which was hard to accept. But if he didn't accept, he would definitely lose this level, with so many skeletons chasing him. He didn't know what the Immortal Severing inheritance was, but judging by the penalty, the reward shouldn't be bad.

Andrew Bennett steeled himself and accepted the quest. At worst, he could start over; it had taken him less than a day to reach level five anyway. The barefooted have nothing to fear.

Suddenly, the scene changed. All the skeletons behind him vanished, and Andrew Bennett found himself in a beautiful fairyland, filled with colorful flowing lights, breathtakingly gorgeous. Green trees and blue stones made it feel like a dream.

You have entered the Immortal Severing Illusion Realm and will now face the first stage of the Immortal Severing Seal quest: Explore the Immortal Severing Illusion Realm.

Andrew Bennett looked around, feeling both amazed and uncertain. He took a step forward but didn't touch solid ground, as if floating in midair. Only then did Andrew Bennett realize that these beautiful sights were nothing but illusions.

As soon as Andrew Bennett took the first step, the surroundings suddenly darkened, becoming oppressively gloomy and fear-inducing. A howling, chilling wind blew, and a sinister ghostly aura made his hair stand on end. Suddenly, a terrifying evil spirit lunged at him from the front. Startled, Andrew Bennett instantly unleashed a Demonic Heaven Dark Force. When the two made contact, the evil spirit seemed to have no physical form, and the Demonic Heaven Dark Force did no harm.

The evil spirit lunged at Andrew Bennett, who quickly raised his hand to block it. He failed, and the evil spirit passed right through him.

"So it was just an illusion." Since it was an illusion, Andrew Bennett no longer felt afraid. He took another step forward, as if suddenly entering the Nether Ghost Domain, with countless evil spirits swirling around him.

Even Andrew Bennett couldn't help but feel a chill in his heart. Those evil spirits had green faces and fangs, indescribably terrifying. If it were someone with a weaker mind, they would probably faint from fright. Fortunately, Andrew Bennett was not afraid of such things. Having killed so many people that even ghosts feared him, how could he fear ghosts? Andrew Bennett laughed at himself, feeling a sense of loneliness. It was as if his hands were stained with endless blood, and the green-faced, fanged monsters were himself.

As he walked on, a large gate appeared ahead. Gloomy and foreboding, four large red characters above the door shone as bright as blood. "Prajna Hell." A sudden, hopeless sorrow welled up in Andrew Bennett's heart. For someone like him, he would surely be sent to such a place after death. Well, might as well take a look now. Andrew Bennett walked in without hesitation.

He hadn't expected that, once inside, he would have to pass through eighteen spaces. In each space, there were all kinds of hellish punishments: tongue-pulling, hand-sawing, mountain of blades, cauldron of oil—each level was too gruesome to bear. Even though Andrew Bennett had prepared himself beforehand, he still broke out in a cold sweat.

If anyone could walk through all eighteen levels of hell with their eyes open, they would either be a hero with a clear conscience and a towering spirit, or a demon who had slaughtered countless people without batting an eye. Andrew Bennett thought for a moment—he probably belonged to the latter. He truly had never blinked while killing; if he had, he might not have survived until now.

After passing through the entire hell, Andrew Bennett actually felt at ease. So what if he experienced all eighteen levels of hell? A surge of heroic spirit rose in his heart.
