Chapter 14

Dan cauldron, that damned dan cauldron—Andrew Bennett urgently needed gold coins to buy one, so he could refine pills.

Now that he knew the use of demon grass, Andrew Bennett was even more determined not to let a single inch of this land go to waste. As long as there was demon grass, he would mercilessly uproot it.

Six bundles of demon grass equaled twenty demon pills. If the +2 spirit pills were put on the market, each could fetch nearly a hundred gold coins at least. They were definitely worth that much, though whether others had that much gold was another question. Andrew Bennett thought of David Grant; if David Grant had the means to buy them, Andrew Bennett could consider him first. Andrew Bennett sent David Grant a message. The system replied that Andrew Bennett was currently on a quest and could not connect. It seemed he would have to wait until he got out to consider it further.

After learning Resurrection, Andrew Bennett cast it directly on the corpse of the Fallen Lesser Demon. But the system indicated failure—BOSS-level monsters could not be resurrected. Andrew Bennett had no choice but to give up the corpse of the Fallen Lesser Demon. If he had it, maybe he could challenge the Demon Guard. Since his attack damage was estimated to be in the tens of thousands, that meant the Fallen Lesser Demon had tens of thousands of HP.

Andrew Bennett arrived at the Greater Demon monster zone.

One Soul-Devouring Wraith, one Demonic Dark Force, one Mind Lash—he retreated a distance, waited for cooldowns, then another Soul-Devouring Wraith, another Mind Lash, retreated again, then Demonic Dark Force.

Bang! The Greater Demon collapsed to the ground. It took a total of 17 seconds, and the experience was about five times that of a Lesser Demon—much more efficient. Andrew Bennett picked up the equipment dropped by the Greater Demon and used a Resurrection.

The Greater Demon stood up again, but unlike before, its body, which was originally blood-red, was now gray, indicating it was a resurrected creature. Andrew Bennett tried controlling the Greater Demon; whatever he thought, the Greater Demon would obey.

Andrew Bennett was very satisfied—he finally had an obedient servant.

Chapter 12: Shadow of the Demon

The resurrected Greater Demon raised its blade against its own kind, while Andrew Bennett hid behind it, occasionally casting Demonic Dark Force and Mind Lash. Soon, Mind Lash leveled up to intermediate, and its fear effect became even more pronounced.

A second Greater Demon, a third Greater Demon. After resurrecting three Greater Demons, Andrew Bennett began clearing out the area. Ding, he leveled up—level seven. Andrew Bennett added two points to Spirit. For now, Agility wasn’t important to him, since he had three Greater Demons tanking in front, so he wasn’t afraid of danger.

A skill book dropped again. Andrew Bennett picked it up—it was a shared skill for Wizards and Warlocks, the level 10 skill: Weakening Curse. He’d gotten a few skill books before, but they were all for other classes. Now, he finally got the level 10 Weakening Curse. Andrew Bennett was excited—he finally had another control skill.

A day passed. Andrew Bennett felt the pressure of time. Killing over a thousand Demon Guards in seven days was too hard; maybe if he reached level 10, it would be possible. So he didn’t dare spend too much time in real life—he just ate instant noodles for every meal and logged in.

Suddenly, Andrew Bennett had a brilliant idea. He suppressed his excitement, unsure if the plan would work.

Andrew Bennett led three level 10 Greater Demons to the level 15 zombie monster zone. The three Greater Demons swarmed in, but killing level 15 monsters was too hard for Andrew Bennett. Only his two intermediate skills, Demonic Dark Force and Mind Lash, had a slight effect on zombies.

But at least he had three Greater Demons as meat shields. After sacrificing two Greater Demons, Andrew Bennett finally brought down a zombie. Resurrection! The zombie stood up again.

Andrew Bennett clenched his fist, his excitement overflowing—it really worked!

Andrew Bennett planned to use three Greater Demons to kill a zombie, resurrect the zombie, then use the resurrected zombie to kill more zombies. Once he had three resurrected zombies, he’d move on to kill higher-level monsters, then use those to kill even stronger ones.

Was this a system bug? No, Andrew Bennett thought it through—this tactic could only last for a certain time. If he logged off, the resurrected creatures would disappear immediately, and they had a fixed time limit—only three minutes. Anyone else would probably give up the resurrected high-level creatures due to hunger, but Andrew Bennett was different. He could go about a week without eating, and a week was enough to accomplish a lot.

Three zombies defeated a level 17 Rotting Corpse. Three Rotting Corpses defeated a Walker. Three Walkers defeated a Bronze Corpse. Three Bronze Corpses defeated a Copper Corpse. Three Copper Corpses defeated an Iron Corpse. Andrew Bennett lost count of how many resurrected creatures he’d swapped out.

Andrew Bennett was elated, strutting along with three level 60 Millennium Golden Corpses as his underlings. He finally encountered the Demon Guard squad.

The result was no surprise. When the three resurrected Millennium Golden Corpses appeared before the Demon Guard squad, the Demon Guards suffered a crushing defeat. The most miserable was the Demon Guard Captain, who was smashed into a pulp by a single slap from an enraged Millennium Golden Corpse.
