Chapter 11

From the outside, this minibus still looked like the same vehicle as before, with virtually no difference. But as soon as William Carter walked up to the door and grabbed the handle, information about the vehicle immediately surfaced in his mind.

A faint electric current slid across his hand, and then William Carter heard a soft "click" as the door opened.

This door actually had an anti-theft sensor, and only he could open it.

After entering the vehicle, William Carter's eyes lit up and his mouth fell open—he was completely stunned!

The internal space and structure of the vehicle had been completely transformed; it was nothing like before. All the previous materials had disappeared without a trace.

The once neatly packed rows of seats had now been replaced by just two side-by-side seats resembling sofas, with a table and shelves nearby.

The compartment had been divided into several sections, each separated by what looked like high-end sliding doors. William Carter opened each door in turn and found that, though compact, there was a fully equipped bathroom, a kitchen, and a small bedroom with a bed that looked very soft.

After admiring it for a while, William Carter suddenly snapped back to reality and hurried to the driver's seat.

The driver's area had also undergone a dramatic change. Not only was it in a separate space, but the interior was also extremely cool. There was a large display screen, and the area around the steering wheel resembled a control console, with various buttons and levers.

William Carter sat down in the now fully leather, very soft driver's seat and gripped the steering wheel. Instantly, the entire vehicle became vividly clear in his mind.

At the same time, the buttons and levers around the dashboard lit up with indicator lights.

William Carter was thrilled inside; the results of the modification were more than satisfactory.

However, this was only the standard edition, with relatively limited functions. If he really wanted to travel unimpeded, he would need to upgrade further.

But upgrading required more materials. Previously, William Carter had neither the time nor enough funds, and he didn't even know the exact list of required materials, so it was impossible to prepare in advance.

Now, this vehicle had already greatly increased William Carter's chances of survival. He quickly familiarized himself with the controls, then called the two movers from last night to come over again.

They had already discussed what needed to be done today, so as soon as the two arrived, they immediately helped William Carter move all the supplies onto the vehicle.

When they saw the interior space of the vehicle, both of them were extremely surprised, and the way they looked at William Carter completely changed.

Previously, seeing William Carter living in such a tiny rental room, piling up so much food and daily necessities, they thought he was preparing to open a small shop or was just a street vendor. Who would have thought... this young man was actually driving an RV!

But to convert such a rundown minibus into this kind of RV—wasn't that just asking for trouble? He must really have money to burn...

As for William Carter, he had no time to care about their reactions. He just kept checking the time and observing his surroundings.

Once all the supplies were loaded, he immediately ran onto the vehicle, closed all the doors and windows tightly, and nervously sat in the driver's seat.

Chapter 6: The Apocalypse Arrives

William Carter didn't know the exact time the disaster would strike, nor did he know what the situation would be like after the virus outbreak.

But he knew that from the moment the virus was discovered in the permafrost, it had already awakened. This virus not only had an extremely strong infectiousness, silently spreading across the globe, but its danger surpassed the sum of all other viruses in the world.

After a period of dormancy, it would erupt rapidly, like a chain of bombs going off.

"Beep beep beep!"

Suddenly, a ringtone sounded, making the already tense William Carter jump. He quickly realized it was nothing else but his own phone ringing.

William Carter hurriedly answered the call. He glanced at the caller ID—it was Emily Thompson: "Hello, I'm coming over right now, you must remember to stay at home, don't go anywhere!"

He was worried that Emily Thompson hadn't fully listened to him. If this call was to tell him she was canceling, that would be bad.

"William Carter, I'm sorry, I'm about to leave." Emily Thompson's voice came through. As soon as she spoke, William Carter's heart sank.

"Leave? Go where? Emily Thompson, listen to me, you must stay at home and lock your door. This is about..." William Carter said anxiously.
