Chapter 15

At this moment, the cars behind were also honking like crazy, with people constantly sticking their heads out and cursing loudly: “Is the person in front insane or what? Get out of the way!”

“Yeah! Why the hell is this car coming out now? If you want to die, go die by yourself!”

These cars, along with the one that was about to force its way through earlier, all seemed to be together, since they all had the same logo on their bodies, plus several of them had already cut in line before.

William Carter guessed they were vehicles from some corporation, because the words XX Group Company were written on them.

Seeing these people not only desperately pushing forward but also cursing him more and more viciously, William Carter instantly got angry. Everyone is trying to survive—why should you get to push ahead like this! Even though his vehicle was big, he was still queuing properly!

He stepped on the gas and continued moving forward. Just as that car was about to cut in front of William Carter’s vehicle, there was a sharp “scrape” sound, and the whole vehicle shook. Then the minibus squeezed past, forcing the other car aside.

The driver, seeing the minibus brushing past his own sedan, was stunned at first, then furious, but soon he was completely dumbfounded.

He watched as the minibus, like some unreasonable brute, forced its way through the traffic, squeezing those cars that had cut in line so hard that they were pressed together.

Chapter 8: Going Against the Current

“Damn!” the driver cursed fiercely. What a freaking lunatic.

And this guy’s luck was unbelievable—he actually managed to squeeze through like that. He wasn’t even going fast, and he was driving an old, beat-up minibus, yet he didn’t get stuck in the middle.

If he had gotten stuck now, he’d have to abandon the car or just wait to die.

But faced with this situation, the other cars had no choice. Even though they cursed and grumbled, they could only obediently follow behind William Carter’s minibus.

Just then, a sudden scream came from behind. William Carter turned on the rearview camera, and the screen next to the dashboard instantly showed hundreds of zombies appearing at once, climbing between and even over the vehicles.

These zombies burst out from the other end of the street, letting out low, guttural growls. Their bodies and hands were covered in blood, their mouths dripping with gore, as they sprinted madly in this direction.

They were already fast, and when they encountered vehicles, they didn’t dodge at all, just scrambled over them on all fours.

Some people who were closer, as soon as they turned to look, were pounced on by zombies, their screams piercing the air. Others only managed a few steps before being tackled from behind.

William Carter saw with his own eyes two people running for their lives. One of them, hearing the screams getting closer, suddenly showed a ruthless expression and shoved the other person to the ground.

“Ah!” that person screamed, but before he could get up, the zombies had already surrounded him.

William Carter felt his scalp tingle. This was a massacre of the living by zombies. These zombies were superior to ordinary people in speed, strength, and agility.

“Hurry up, hurry up!” The cars that had cut in line earlier were now frantically honking, terror exploding inside them as the zombies drew closer.

William Carter’s minibus was still moving forward, but there were just too many cars ahead. The traffic was inching forward, but it was impossible to pick up speed.

The cars in front were getting anxious too. For a moment, screams and car horns blended into a chaotic din. The people behind were running like mad, shoving aside anyone in their way. At this point, everyone just wanted to escape—everyone had gone crazy.

At that moment, William Carter’s gaze suddenly caught sight of the sedan that had tried to cut in front of him earlier.

Two girls were running alongside his vehicle, desperately pounding on the rear door.

“Please, open the door and let us in!”

“Save us! We’re begging you!”

The two girls looked terrified. They must have begged other cars for help before, but none had stopped. Now, with the zombies rapidly closing in, this was the closest vehicle to them, so they pleaded desperately.

With the physical strength of two ordinary girls, there was no way they could outrun the zombies. If they couldn’t get inside, they’d be torn apart within two or three minutes at most.

William Carter watched this scene, and the distance between the zombies and the vehicle. If the car slowed down a bit and opened the door to let the girls in, there would definitely be time.

But not only did the car not stop, it actually sped up. The two girls could only run with all their might. “Driver, please open the door! You don’t have to slow down!”

The door was locked—they couldn’t open it at all.

At that moment, the driver turned his head, his face twisted with rage, and shouted, “Damn it, let go of my car right now!”

One of the girls suddenly sped up, running alongside his driver’s window, pounding on the glass: “Please! Open the door!”
