Chapter 7

After resting at home for a night, early the next morning, Henry Carter took the train to the teleportation station and entered the Sanctuary of the Gods world through the teleportation station.

Henry Carter appeared in his room within the Steel Armor Shelter. When humans teleport into the Sanctuary of the Gods space, they all appear in a fixed room. Only the owner can enter this room; no one else can enter it by any means unless given permission by the owner.

Before completing the first evolution and entering the Second Sanctuary of the Gods space, this was considered Henry Carter’s home in the Sanctuary of the Gods world.

Right now, Henry Carter had neither power nor influence. If he wanted to keep his house, he would have to pay two million within a month to save his family’s old home.

Although he was very unwilling, before he had strength and power, this was the only way to keep the house.

Two million Zuo Xuan coins was, without a doubt, an astronomical figure for a sixteen-year-old who had just graduated from integrated compulsory education.

In the past, Henry Carter couldn’t have earned two million in a year, let alone a month.

But now things were different. In fact, if Henry Carter hadn’t already cooked the God-blood Black Beetle’s shell into soup, just that god-blood-level shell alone could have sold for one or two million.

Although he no longer had the god-blood-level shell, Henry Carter still had that black crystal that could evolve creatures. With that, two million was nothing.

Looking at the primitive Green Scale Beast corpse still lying on the ground, Henry Carter hesitated for a moment, then picked up the corpse. After skinning and deboning it with a dagger, he dried the flesh over the fire to make jerky, which he packed into a pouch at his waist as rations.

He had to catch a creature first, then use the crystal to evolve it, and then sell the high-grade flesh for money.

However, now that Henry Carter had the god-level beast soul armor, he could go hunt primitive creatures and didn’t need to hunt ordinary ones anymore.

Evolving an ordinary creature to the primitive level would waste a whole day, and primitive creatures didn’t sell for much. Two million was no small sum; Henry Carter would at least need to evolve a mutant creature to possibly sell it for two million.

Primitive creatures were distributed about a dozen kilometers from the Steel Armor Shelter. Henry Carter hadn’t dared to go before, but now that he had the beast soul armor, it was different.

However, Henry Carter’s target this time wasn’t the weakest primitive creature near the Steel Armor Shelter, the Copper Tusk Beast, but the Swift Mantis that often appeared in Gale Valley.

Although the Swift Mantis was only a primitive creature and its body was relatively fragile—an ordinary alloy dagger could easily kill it if it struck a vital spot—its speed was incredibly fast. Most humans couldn’t keep up with it, and its pair of saw-like forearms could easily slice through human bones. If you were struck by its mantis arms, you’d be crippled if not dead, so very few people hunted Swift Mantises.

For Henry Carter, though, the Swift Mantis was the perfect choice. After all, it was only a primitive creature, and no matter how fierce, it couldn’t break through his god-blood-level beast soul armor. As long as the Swift Mantis couldn’t hurt him, he could easily kill it.

Most importantly, after cutting off the Swift Mantis’s claws and wings, it would lose almost all combat ability but wouldn’t die. Henry Carter could then bring it back and keep it in his room, evolve it to mutant level with the black crystal, and then slaughter it for its flesh to sell.

Of course, if he was lucky enough to kill several Swift Mantises and happened to get a Swift Mantis beast soul, that would be even better.

The Swift Mantis beast soul was a weapon type, which could transform into a Swift Saw Blade—a serrated long dagger, exactly the kind of weapon Henry Carter was skilled at using.

Although the Swift Saw Blade was only a primitive-level weapon-type beast soul, its destructive power and sharpness were top-tier among primitive weapons, and in terms of sharpness, it was no worse than some mutant-level weapon beast souls.

However, because hunting Swift Mantises was so dangerous, very few people went to Gale Valley, so not many people had ever obtained a Swift Saw Blade. Occasionally, when one was sold, it would fetch a sky-high price.

If he was lucky enough to get a Swift Mantis beast soul, Henry Carter wouldn’t need to rely on selling mutant creature flesh; just selling the Swift Mantis beast soul would be enough to get two million.

He made his way to the outskirts of Gale Valley, where there were fewer and fewer people. By the time he reached the area near Gale Valley, there was no sign of humans at all—indeed, very few people set foot here.

Henry Carter didn’t dare go too deep either. He found a hidden spot, summoned the god-blood Black Beetle beast soul, transformed it into golden armor to protect his whole body, took a deep breath, and slipped into Gale Valley.

Henry Carter didn’t dare move too quickly. The valley was shaded with trees, wild grass grew taller than a person, and gusts of wind would occasionally blow through, making the leaves and grass sway constantly. It was hard to spot the green Swift Mantises hidden within, and if he wasn’t careful, one could suddenly rush out and slice through his bones.
