There were still people on the street occasionally talking about Brother B. Henry Carter made his way back to his room, glanced at the Copper-toothed Beast—its body had mostly turned bronze, though the color was still a bit lighter than a true mutant Copper-toothed Beast. It seemed it would need more time to fully evolve.
Teleporting out of the Shelter world, Henry Carter went to the medical center. After an examination, he found he had multiple bone fractures. The doctor took a long time to treat all of Henry Carter’s injuries.
Fortunately, Henry Carter had recently earned a hundred thousand yuan from Sophie Brooks, or he wouldn’t have been able to afford the medical bills.
Back home, Henry Carter closed the door, inserted the memory chip into the smart device, and wanted to see if he could glean anything about Evelyn Long’s identity from it.
To be able to traverse deep mountains and marshes and reach the Steel Armor Shelter, and to have practiced a super gene art that was clearly not ordinary—if it weren’t for the beast soul on him, he would have been destroyed crossing those wilds. And if he was injured, even with two god-blood beast souls, Henry Carter wasn’t sure he could have killed him.
The smart device read the contents of the memory chip. Henry Carter only watched for a moment before his eyes widened, his face breaking into an ecstatic grin.
“Super gene art… This actually records a super gene art…” Henry Carter almost wanted to laugh up at the sky.
In the virtual 3D projection from the chip, a naked woman performed all sorts of strange movements while reciting obscure and difficult incantations. With each movement, she would also provide some explanations.
Although the woman was stunningly beautiful, Henry Carter’s attention was completely absorbed by the super gene art she was demonstrating, leaving no room for any other thoughts.
“‘Ice-Jade Muscle and Bone Art’—isn’t this the super gene art used by Evelyn Long?” Henry Carter had witnessed the power of this super gene art when Evelyn Long used it, and was even more delighted.
He locked himself in his room for two days and nights, finally memorizing all the contents of the chip. Then, without hesitation, he destroyed the chip. Keeping something like that could be a disaster in the future. After reading the ‘Ice-Jade Muscle and Bone Art’, Henry Carter felt even more certain that Evelyn Long’s identity was anything but simple.
Henry Carter began to practice the ‘Ice-Jade Muscle and Bone Art’ while also recuperating. He had originally planned to buy a super gene art after making some money, but those available for purchase were basically street stall goods, while this ‘Ice-Jade Muscle and Bone Art’ was clearly high-grade.
Although Henry Carter knew there was a risk of being discovered practicing the ‘Ice-Jade Muscle and Bone Art’, he still gritted his teeth and started cultivating it. Missing out on this art might mean he’d never have another chance to access such a high-level super gene art.
After two or three days of practice, Henry Carter felt his body becoming cool. He measured his temperature and found it was about two degrees lower than normal, but he didn’t feel uncomfortable. On the contrary, he felt refreshed all over, his mind much clearer, as if every cell in his body was brimming with vitality.
As he continued to practice, his temperature stopped changing, but Henry Carter’s mental state kept improving, and even his skin seemed to become much more delicate.
“Henry Carter, what have you been up to lately? We haven’t seen each other in ages, let’s get together.” A projection of a long-haired, handsome young man with a sunny smile, about the same age as Henry Carter, popped up on the communicator.
“Where to?” Seeing the long-haired guy, Henry Carter felt much better. This was his childhood friend Daniel Bolton, his closest buddy since they were little. Daniel Bolton’s father was Mr. Bolton.
“Come downstairs and we’ll talk. I’m almost at your place. James Carter and Lucy Long are here too,” said Daniel Bolton.
“Okay.” Henry Carter nodded, went out, and sure enough saw a small private aircraft parked outside. Daniel Bolton was in the pilot’s seat, waving at him.
Henry Carter boarded the aircraft and saw a young man and woman chatting in the back. The girl, Lucy Long, was very pretty and gentle. The guy was, of course, James Carter, who was actually Henry Carter’s relative—his chubby aunt’s son. By seniority, he had to call Henry Carter “cousin.”
Because Henry Carter’s aunt was strong-willed and her husband was a live-in son-in-law, James Carter took his mother’s surname, Han.
With Daniel Bolton, the four of them had all grown up together. But after Henry Carter’s father had his accident, he could only attend integrated compulsory education, while the other three went to private academies.
Henry Carter greeted James Carter and Lucy Long, then sat in the co-pilot seat next to Daniel Bolton. James Carter just grunted in response and continued chatting with Lucy Long, barely acknowledging Henry Carter.
“Lucy Long, it’s a pity you weren’t at the Steel Armor Shelter. If you’d seen it, you’d have been blown away. Brother B just made a gesture, and suddenly he transformed—his lower body was a horse, upper body a man, with a bull’s head, his whole body clad in golden armor. The Divine Son and his group could only watch as he galloped away…”
Chapter 14: Divine Son
Henry Carter looked in surprise at the excitedly chattering James Carter. He hadn’t expected that, by coincidence, James Carter had also been randomly teleported to the Steel Armor Shelter.
