Chapter 12

“Don’t underestimate Emily Bennett. Whether in the Alliance or the Sanctuary world, she’s a formidable woman. If I can win her over, she’ll be a huge help to me in both the Alliance and the Sanctuary world.” A cold glint flashed in Divine Son’s eyes. “Let’s not talk about this now. Hurry to Sunset Slope—don’t let Brother Grant and his crew beat us to it. We must claim that god-blooded creature.”

Chapter 9: God-Blooded Creature

Henry Carter returned to his room, tied up the Bronze-Toothed Beast in a cage, and placed the black crystal near its mouth. The Bronze-Toothed Beast immediately opened its mouth wide and greedily swallowed the black crystal in one gulp.

Henry Carter waited for a day, and sure enough, the Bronze-Toothed Beast began to change. Its fur, originally boar-like and gray-black, with only a pair of bronze tusks, now faintly shimmered with a bronze luster, and the bronze tusks became even brighter.

However, this was still not a Mutant Bronze-Toothed Beast. A true Mutant Bronze-Toothed Beast would have its entire body turned to bronze, like a statue cast from the metal—that would be a real Mutant Bronze-Toothed Beast.

This Bronze-Toothed Beast’s fur only had a slight bronze sheen, just a little, still far from the real thing.

“It seems that evolving from a primitive creature to a mutant one isn’t as simple as evolving from an ordinary creature to a primitive one. One day isn’t enough,” Henry Carter mused to himself.

After waiting more than two days, the bronze luster on the Bronze-Toothed Beast grew stronger, but it still didn’t look like it would evolve into a mutant creature anytime soon.

Henry Carter had no choice but to let the Bronze-Toothed Beast evolve slowly. He prepared to go out and hunt some primitive creatures to make money, and also to eat some himself to enhance his primitive genes.

Even without using primitive gene evolution, the more primitive genes accumulated, the stronger the body would become. Ordinary genes and mutant genes had the same effect.

If one could max out ordinary, primitive, and mutant genes to one hundred points each, even without evolving, the body’s strength would far surpass that of an average person.

With the black crystal in hand, it wouldn’t be difficult for Henry Carter to max out all four types of genes. Before collecting one hundred god genes, Henry Carter also wanted to max out the other three gene groups as much as possible.

Henry Carter left his room and walked down the streets of Steel Armor Sanctuary, feeling a bit odd. There seemed to be far fewer people in the sanctuary today; the streets were almost deserted, a stark contrast to the usual bustling scene.

“What’s going on?” As Henry Carter passed the plaza, he noticed that there were far fewer vendors, and those who remained were whispering among themselves.

Henry Carter listened for a while and roughly figured out what had happened.

A few days ago, someone spotted a new god-blooded creature near Sunset Slope. Somehow, the three major factions of Steel Armor Sanctuary all found out and rushed over with their people.

But the result was tragic: they failed to hunt the god-blooded creature, and many people died.

Today, Emily Bennett, Divine Son, and Brother Grant—the three giants of Steel Armor Sanctuary—reached an agreement to join forces and hunt the god-blooded creature. They also recruited many solo adventurers and small groups to join in. It was said to be the largest operation in Steel Armor Sanctuary in recent years. Emily Bennett, Divine Son, and Brother Grant were determined to succeed this time.

A sharp light flashed in Henry Carter’s eyes. He turned and left the city. Once he reached a secluded spot, he summoned the Black Beetle Beast Soul, transforming it into armor that covered his whole body. Then he jogged for over two hours, finally arriving at a small rocky hill on the west side of Sunset Slope.

After much effort, he climbed to the top of the hill and looked toward Sunset Slope. He saw thousands of people fighting and shouting on the slope. Amidst the crowd, a monster with the lower body of a horse, the upper body of a human, but a bull’s head, wielded a massive golden double-bladed battle axe. It charged back and forth through the crowd, and no one could withstand even a single blow from its axe.

As Henry Carter watched, he saw the monster swing its golden double-bladed axe in a wide arc, bringing it down on Divine Son. Although Divine Son held a blood-colored longsword, he didn’t dare take the blow head-on. He pushed off the back of his triceratops-like beast soul mount and leapt back several yards.

Roar!

The monster’s golden double-bladed axe struck the triceratops-like beast soul mount, splitting it cleanly in two.

Divine Son was so furious he almost coughed up blood. His prized mutant beast soul mount had been killed by the god-blooded creature just like that. A mutant beast soul mount was a rare treasure—enough to trade for a small Alliance starship.

“How is this god-blooded creature so strong?” Henry Carter was shocked and uncertain.

The god-blooded creature rampaged through the crowd of thousands, moving like the wind. No one could withstand a single blow from its axe—not even powerhouses like Emily Bennett, Divine Son, or Brother Grant dared to face it head-on. All kinds of alloy arrows and beast soul arrows struck its body but couldn’t even scratch its fur. With a sweep of its axe, no one could get within ten feet of it. Such was its overwhelming might and dominance.
