Chapter 9

Sophie Brooks is now basically running errands for Emily Bennett, going to places most people have never been, to see if he can find traces of god-blooded creatures or mutated creatures, passing the information to Emily Bennett, who then brings people to hunt them down. After the job is done, he gets a share of the profits, which is the flesh and blood of mutated-level creatures.

Sophie Brooks has been out for over a month recently, and not to mention god-blooded creatures, he hasn't even seen a trace of mutated-level creatures. His supplies are almost used up, so he can only return to the Steel Armor Shelter. Passing by Fallen Wind Valley, he thought he might as well go in and take a look. Maybe a place like Fallen Wind Valley, where hardly anyone wants to come, has already bred mutated-level creatures.

However, after Sophie Brooks carefully entered Fallen Wind Valley, he felt that something was off.

He didn't see any Gale Mantises—not even one. After walking a few hundred meters into the valley, he only saw some scattered traces, but not a single Gale Mantis.

"Could it be that someone brought people to clear out the Gale Mantises in Fallen Wind Valley? Was it Brother Grant or Divine Son? No, although the grass is a bit messy and there are signs of fighting, if a large group had come, it couldn't have left so few traces..." Sophie Brooks thought in surprise and suspicion, quickening his pace as he walked deeper into Fallen Wind Valley, wanting to see what was really going on.

Sure enough, along the way Sophie Brooks saw a lot of green blood from Gale Mantises. Following the blood trail forward, he turned around a cliff face, and the scene before him left Sophie Brooks frozen in place.

Next to a pile of Gale Mantis corpses stacked like a small hill, a figure shining with golden light stood by. In the sunlight, he looked like a machine-armored man cast entirely in gold.

Chapter 7: Gold Coins

"Big brother, did you kill all these Gale Mantises by yourself?" Sophie Brooks looked left and right. Other than this person wrapped head to toe in golden armor, he couldn't see anyone else.

Judging by the blood on these Gale Mantises, which hadn't fully coagulated yet, they had clearly just died not long ago. Sophie Brooks found it hard to believe that so many Gale Mantises could have been killed by a single person in such a short time.

Gale Mantises, though only primitive-level creatures, have mantis arms that are extremely sharp and move very fast. Even many people with maxed-out primitive genes don't want to mess with them.

After all, the human body has too many vital points. If you get slashed by a Gale Mantis hiding in the grass, even if you don't die, you'll be seriously injured. No one wants to take that risk.

There were at least thirty or forty Gale Mantises slaughtered here. To kill so many Gale Mantises, even Emily Bennett would have to bring several skilled people along. The idea that one person could slaughter so many Gale Mantises in such a short time was something Sophie Brooks simply couldn't believe.

"Want them? One thousand Zuo Xuan coins each." Henry Carter was actually troubled by all these Gale Mantis corpses. He got carried away killing them just now and forgot that there was no way he could eat so much Gale Mantis meat by himself.

And even if he could, only the first few would have any effect; eating more after that would be useless.

"One thousand Zuo Xuan coins each? Are you sure?" Sophie Brooks looked at Henry Carter in shock. Primitive-level creatures, while many people can hunt them, are still in short supply—especially ones like the Gale Mantis, a primitive-level creature most people have never tasted.

After all, people's energy is limited. The flesh and blood of the same primitive creature can only provide part of the primitive gene value; eating more won't help. You have to eat other types of primitive-level creatures to keep increasing your primitive gene value.

Anyone with some financial means will spend money to buy creatures they haven't eaten before, hoping to quickly reach the full 100 points of gene value.

Generally, rare primitive gene creatures that are easier to hunt can only sell for a few hundred coins each, but rarer and harder-to-kill types—like the Gale Mantis—can sell for two or three thousand coins each and are still in short supply.

Sophie Brooks did the math. At a price of one thousand coins each, if he just transported these Gale Mantis corpses back, he could easily make two or three times the profit.

"That's right, one thousand Zuo Xuan coins each." Henry Carter nodded affirmatively.

Henry Carter knew that Gale Mantises could sell for two or three thousand coins each, but with so many corpses and no vehicle or tools, if he had to carry them all by himself, he didn't know how many trips it would take to get them all back.

If he left here, by the time he came back, the remaining Gale Mantis corpses might have already been stolen by others.

Besides, Henry Carter didn't want to waste time and energy on this. He had more important things to do. One thousand coins was an acceptable price for him—he'd just act as a wholesaler and leave some profit margin for the retailer.

"Alright, I'll take all these Gale Mantises. How many are there in total?" Sophie Brooks agreed immediately. These Gale Mantises weren't just something he could sell for money.

For a primitive creature like the Gale Mantis, which most people never get a chance to eat, he could use them as gifts. As long as someone's primitive gene value wasn't maxed out, no one would refuse such a good thing.
