Chapter 10

“It’s a total of forty-three. I’ll give you a discount and make it forty thousand for all of them.” Henry Carter had just asked casually, not expecting that this seemingly unremarkable guy would turn out to be a real big spender, buying everything without hesitation.

Sophie Brooks took out his wallet and directly pulled out ten bills of ten thousand each, handing them to Henry Carter. “Big bro, let’s just call these Gale Mantises fifty thousand. The remaining fifty thousand is a deposit for you. If you have any good stuff in the future, come straight to me. We can always negotiate the price. If you have any mutant creature flesh, I’m willing to pay a high price.”

A hundred thousand was nothing to Sophie Brooks; he often spent more than that just treating people to a fancy meal. This person was strong enough to kill so many Gale Mantises on his own—his strength was unfathomable, and he might very well be able to slay mutant creatures. If he could buy mutant creature flesh from him, what’s a hundred or two hundred thousand? Even ten times that, he would be eager to pay.

“Didn’t expect it—you’re actually a real big shot.” Henry Carter didn’t stand on ceremony, taking all the money and giving Sophie Brooks a slightly surprised look.

“To be honest, all I have left is money. Big bro, if you have any mutant creature flesh to sell, you have to think of me. Price is absolutely not an issue.” Sophie Brooks was afraid Henry Carter wouldn’t give him a chance, so he spoke very assertively.

“Alright, give me your name and room number. If I have something good, I’ll come find you.” Seeing how generous Sophie Brooks was, Henry Carter happened to be planning to evolve a mutant creature to sell, and Sophie Brooks was a good candidate.

After all, the fewer people who see an evolved mutant creature, the better. Selling to one person was much better than selling in front of everyone in the plaza.

And selling to someone who isn’t short on money means there’s no need to worry about the price.

“Big bro, my name is Sophie Brooks, that’s my real name. My room number in Steel Armor Shelter is 1046. Big bro, what should I call you? Which room do you live in?” Sophie Brooks asked.

“Gold Coin. Gold as in gold, coin as in coin. That’s all I go by. Get your money ready. When I have something good, I’ll come to 1046 to find you.” Henry Carter stuffed the money into his pocket, waved at Sophie Brooks, and turned to leave Falling Wind Valley.

After what happened with his father, Henry Carter didn’t want to get too involved with others. He just wanted to take care of his mother and sister and do what he wanted. Other people and matters didn’t concern him much.

“Brother Grant, I’ll be waiting for you. You have to come, okay? Don’t worry, price is absolutely not an issue…” Sophie Brooks waved and shouted at Henry Carter’s back.

After Henry Carter left, Sophie Brooks calmed down and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Damn, with so many Gale Mantises, how am I supposed to get them all back by myself?”

After thinking it over, Sophie Brooks decided to carry some back himself in his bag, and for the rest, he’d have a few friends he got along with come help him carry them.

Luckily, Falling Wind Valley was usually deserted, so when Sophie Brooks brought people back, not a single Gale Mantis corpse was missing.

“Little Sophie, are you serious? Did that Gold Coin guy really hunt all these Gale Mantises by himself?” The people who came with Sophie Brooks stared wide-eyed at the piles of Gale Mantis corpses.

“Why would I lie to you? I didn’t see him do it myself, but he was the only one in Falling Wind Valley at the time, and these Gale Mantises had just died. If it wasn’t him, who else could it be?” Sophie Brooks said.

“I bet it was a group of them who killed these Gale Mantises, and the others just left first, leaving him to deal with the bodies. How could one person possibly kill so many Gale Mantises? He’s just bragging.”

“Definitely bragging.”

None of the others believed that Henry Carter had hunted all those Gale Mantises by himself.

Chapter 8: Primitive Beast Soul

After leaving Falling Wind Valley, Henry Carter didn’t go straight back to Steel Armor Shelter.

He had just had such a great time killing, wiping out all the Gale Mantises without leaving a single one alive.

“Forget it, I’ll go hunt a Copper-Toothed Beast. There are plenty of Copper-Toothed Beasts near Steel Armor Shelter, and the chance of a mutant Copper-Toothed Beast appearing is pretty high. If I manage to raise a mutant Copper-Toothed Beast, it won’t arouse too much suspicion.” Henry Carter went to look for a Copper-Toothed Beast gathering spot, hoping to catch a lone one to bring back.

But he didn’t find a lone Copper-Toothed Beast for a while. Instead, he ran into a small group of four or five. Relying on his tough armor, he charged in and slaughtered the others, leaving just one alive to capture.

“Killed primitive creature Copper-Toothed Beast. No beast soul obtained. Eating its flesh may randomly grant 0 to 10 points of primitive genes.”

“Killed primitive creature Copper-Toothed Beast. Obtained primitive Copper-Toothed Beast beast soul. Eating its flesh may randomly grant 0 to 10 points of primitive genes.”

Henry Carter’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had killed forty-three Gale Mantises and over a thousand ordinary creatures before, but never got a single beast soul. Now, after killing just two Copper-Toothed Beasts, he had obtained a beast soul.

“Luck. Beast souls are all about luck.” Henry Carter was both surprised and delighted. Although the Copper-Toothed Beast beast soul was fairly common, common didn’t mean it was bad.
