Prologue
“You’re really lucky. Other than astronauts, you’re probably the first person to visit the moon for free!”
An old man with a sinister face, dressed in a ghostly, opera-like blue robe, his face twisted in a wicked grin, looked at a young man wrapped in a thin, purple energy shield and said.
The young man looked to be in his twenties, wearing a pair of brightly colored shorts, of average build, his skinny upper body bare, with a scowl as if the whole world owed him money. Inside the purple shield, he anxiously looked around.
“Lucky? Lucky my ass! You crazy old man, what do you want from me, dragging me here?”
Ryan Carter was already fuming. It was a hot summer day, and he was just about to take a shower at home when a flash of white light appeared. Before Ryan Carter could even take off his shorts, this bizarre old man appeared out of nowhere, stared at Ryan Carter and said, “Your birth date matches,” then, without another word, dragged Ryan Carter out the tenth-floor window. Ryan Carter fainted from fright on the spot.
When Ryan Carter woke up again, he found himself surrounded by darkness, desolation, and deathly silence. The ground was pitted and scarred, like the skin of someone badly burned. He was then told this was the moon.
Perhaps it was the effect of the strange purple shield, but on the moon, separated by this purple barrier, Ryan Carter and the weirdo in front of him could communicate without any obstacles. Strangely, there was enough oxygen inside the purple shield that Ryan Carter didn’t have to worry about suffocating.
“It’s nothing much. In a moment, I’ll be fighting three people at once, seeking to break through the shackles of the world’s laws and reach the pinnacle of the demonic path—the Heavenly Demon Realm. However, while none of the three can beat me one-on-one, if they join forces, I can’t be completely sure of victory.
Just in case, I found you, someone whose birth date matches mine. If I’m unlucky enough to die, I can use the most mysterious demon seed technique to plant my own consciousness in your body. Then I’ll grow again, using your body to recover!” Logan Bennett stared at Ryan Carter, explaining slowly, but his slightly bloodshot eyes glinted with malice.
“Uh... If you plant your... whatever consciousness in my body, then... what happens to me?” Ryan Carter was dizzy from all this, not really understanding what Logan Bennett meant, but instinctively caught the key point and asked.
Logan Bennett paused, then grinned wickedly as if it were obvious: “Your body will be mine. Of course, you’ll be dead!”
“¥%%...”
Ryan Carter was furious. Regardless of whether he was a lamb to the slaughter, a torrent of curses burst from his mouth like cannon fire, starting with Logan Bennett’s ancestors and creatively insulting every one of his relatives.
“Kid, take this last chance and curse all you want! Originally, if I won, I was going to spare your life, but now I’ve decided that even if I win, I’ll send you to the underworld!”
Logan Bennett was at first unfazed by Ryan Carter’s barrage of abuse, acting as if he had great composure. But after half an hour, seeing that Ryan Carter still hadn’t stopped and was getting even more vicious, his face finally turned green, and he snapped impatiently with a sinister shout.
At that shout, Ryan Carter immediately fell silent, paused, then desperately pounded on the thin, purple shield, crying and yelling, “Hero—, great master—, I know I was wrong, please let me go! What you’re doing is illegal, the police will catch you, technology is advanced now, even if you escape to the moon it’s useless!”
“The demonic path acts on impulse, never caring about mortal laws. I, Logan Bennett, have roamed the world for years, killed more people than you’ve ever met, and I’m still alive and well, aren’t I?”
Logan Bennett said darkly, his face gloomy. After saying this, his expression changed slightly, and he looked to the left, muttering to himself, “They’re finally here!”
Then Logan Bennett pointed his right hand at Ryan Carter, and both Ryan Carter and the purple shield flew up, flung far away like a spring, bouncing until they landed in a low-lying ravine, finally coming to a stop.
After that, Ryan Carter found he couldn’t move at all, couldn’t make a sound, could only think, hear, and blink his eyes. Inside the purple shield, he couldn’t do anything else.
“You three are late. Today I’ll fight all three of you. I hope you enjoy yourselves. If you die, don’t blame me!”
“Amitabha.” “Boundless Heavenly Venerable.”
